3 yards of mulch make everything look better

Except my aching back! It was a perfect weekend for gardening here in IL. Sunny and warm , and now we're supposed to have a little cooler and rainy week. I spread 3 yards of mulch, put a few replacements in that didn'take survive winter, and the rain is just starting. Here's how the front bed looks tonight. From furtheSt back, to front-lilac, Caryopteris, camassia, hydrangea quercifolia 'pee wee', Easy Elegance rose 'Sunrise Sunset, ' Veronica 'Eveline', Ansonia 'Blue Star', Veronica 'Waterperry Blue', various daffodils, narcissus, and allium, and , under the mailbox, mixed creeping sedums and creeping thyme. I pulled out the row of yes 2 years ago and laid out and planted this bed in their place, planning for a succession of color and a variety of textures. The first couple of years of a new bed always look a little sparse, but this year should really start to fill in.
