Is putting a washer dryer set in a bathroom a good or bad idea?
Comments (14)Thanks you guys. I have gained confidence that this will work. But I might have to move the wall a foot to make enough room. My plumber was here today to look at things for my other bathroom remodel that I am doing. I had him look at this new laundry space idea in the other bathroom. He suggested that I just put the washer/dryer in the bedroom next to the bathroom instead of moving the wall into the bedroom. I was concerned about making the bedroom too small. His response was "but you're not using it as a bedroom any longer, and as a guest room you don't need too much room anyway...you don't want to make it too comfortable for guest" then he grinned. I might just consider this as an option. I could create a small closet in the bedroom on the other side of the bathroom wall that could accommodate the stacked set. This would leave the bathroom layout as is. I just might do that :)...Next year....See MoreWould you buy a house with washer/dryer in bedroom?
Comments (18)Thought I'd offer a perspective since we have this . . . We didn't buy our house with the w/d in a bedroom - we renovated and did it then. The house had a w/d closet in the breakfast area of the kitchen. When we did a major kitchen renovation (including moving some walls) we turned the old w/d closet into a kitchen pantry and added a w/d closet in the guest bedroom. A couple of points: The guest bedroom still has a real closet. The w/d closet is wide enough for a regular washer and dryer, and has double solid wood panel doors so it can be effectively closed for guests. The bedroom's queen bed makes a good folding/sorting station. We thought it was a good solution for this house. Obviously we don't do laundry when we have guests. And we don't have guests so often that it's a problem. And it beats the heck out of having them in the basement!...See MoreWould you stack your washer/dryer in order to put in a sink?
Comments (11)Yes, I'm already thinking of getting rid of the bifolds. We got rid of them in our current house, too. I'm not sure about the ceiling height; that would definitely be a limiting factor. I'm not sure what you mean by "needing" the laundry closet. The laundry needs to stay in that space, and my only potential reconfiguration option is to stack. Or do you mean knocking down the enclosure part that makes it closet-shaped? We did that in our current home to make a built-in mudroom space, and I love it. We'd consider doing that again (though no room for built-in mudroom... it's just the washer/dryer recessed next to the hallway, with some hooks on the wall). There is a door to that hallway (which only has the w/d and a door to outside), so we don't need the closet doors for noise mitigation. This space is not a priority, so we won't be making big changes. We need to update our bathroom and kitchen. My husband can DIY anything we do to the laundry area....See MoreMakeup Lovers; Where do you put your Makeup?! / Bathroom / Bedroom
Comments (16)I keep all my makeup in a caddy in the master bathroom but carry it, with a magnification mirror, to a bedroom window that gets natural light. That way I don't wind up with a clown face when I go outdoors! (The master bath doesn't have a window, and I didn't want to get one of those makeup mirrors that change to natural light since I have a wall of bedroom windows with all the natural light I want.) It's an excellent system....See MoreDon
