We don't have b&b inside our house but it is on the majority of our exterior. I would never think of my house as beachy/cottage. I think it looks very clean. I'm not sure what style our house is. My friend called it prairie modern. However, our rooflines aren't flat. I love our b&b and I say go for it. I think it adds interest. It all depends how you furnish the room. That will determine the style.

Pic is of our Keeping Room. Describe home as elegant Hunt Lodge. FYI: have 3,000 board feet of PNW Douglas Fir trusses and posts interior and exterior. Can't get much more rustic! We also used B and B on the exterior.

There are a lot of iterations. I like it because it gives texture and dimension to drywall. I think it can look good almost anywhere. Go for it!

I am sold! We are totally going for it this weekend. Now I'm thinking to do the double look with a finishing piece of trim on top.

Wow, what a fabulous look. Thanks for bringing this topic up, cand1781, and extra thanks for posting those wonderful examples aktillery! This is timely because I'm in the design process for our family room overhaul, and if Pickwick paneling proves too hard to obtain in our area, board & batten looks like a great alternative.

I really like the look too. However, I wonder how difficult it is to keep it clean looking,esp. when it is painted white? With air conditioning I suppose dust isn't quite as big of a problem. I have white trim in my bedroom and a creamy white in the kitchen, and the baseboards are the worst to keep grime-free; luckily the kitchen is small so I am able to take a cleaning rag to it more frequently. The bedroom is a different story and the dust on baseboard behind furniture is a challenge because the dusting wand doesn't always do a good job without moving all the furniture out from the wall.

I would love the board & batten in my library, stained.

That is so pretty! love it and the paint color, too. I really like the way you have your chairs arranged, too. It looks like such a welcoming place to have a meal.

I did wainscot in my DR as we'll. It's more tedious and time consuming than being hard to do. Yours looks excellent (like the 2x boards). I I could ever get around to finishing the electrical in the DR I'll post pics.

It looks great, I sincerely mean that, but it is not board & batten, it's paneled wainscotting, FWIW. Must keep the nomenclature pure lest we revert to grunts and gestures like cavemen.

Yes, I've always thought of Cand1781's type of paneling as craftsman or shaker style. Board and Batten is always vertical, with the batten trim covering the seam between the boards. But your dining room is just gorgeous. Thanks for posting the after pictures!
