Would you bother???
Comments (0)I used SW Duration satin in my master bath (ceiling was already semi-gloss) and used SW Duration matte in the bedroom. I love the look, feel, and subtle shine of the matte in the bedroom (it is definitely more like an eggshell as others have described). I put the satin in the bathroom using the old rule of more sheen=better clean. But now knowing that high quality matte can in fact go in the bathroom, I feel like I should have just used the matte instead of the satin. As a side note, I used the same color in both bedroom and bath. Bath is large and open with good ventilation and a jacuzzi in the center and the shower is in it's own separate fully tiled room. So the question is: should i bother repainting the wall and ceiling with matte? Will it make much of a difference? I used painters so it would definitely cost to do this. Your advice?...See MoreWould this bother you enough to make a stink about it?
Comments (15)Thank you all for your suggestions/advice! I talked to our contractor today who was not happy we called him out on it (to put it mildly...). This is not a small project compared to his other projects he has done in the past - it is the norm. He doesn't do commercial work. He said he can hand sand the edges to make them more rounded since ours aren't super rounded and the machine might round them too much. He said if we wanted to "cap" them that it would be out of our pocket. Said that materials would cost too much. I told him that the easiest solution to make them all match is okay by us. We just want them to "match existing" as it states in our contract. We left the convo with him saying he wants to "try hand sanding" - not sure where he will go if that doesn't work out! Another question - should we be able to see the break in the baseboards between the new and old or should he be able to sand/caulk them enough so that it isn't noticeable (at least from across the room)? They also had a visible line where the new crown molding (all new) was installed and they had a break in the pieces of wood. Is this acceptable? I'm starting to think that since it is the end of the project that he is cutting corners... :(...See MoreWould you bother? Vote time ;)
Comments (26)What a darling, dysfunctional kitchen! Thank you funkycamper, that's exactly what I thought the first time I saw it, minus the dysfunctional though. The previous homeowners built the cabinetry, (not to mention the front door and many windows of the house) that just blows me away, so you can imagine I'm a bit of a fan of all you DIYers. I like the thought of the glass on the sides if we keep the uppers. Of course then I'd probable have to change out the ones by the sink... And the storage in the peninsula WOULD have to be counter height oldbat2be...Funny, I've never had a set up like the bar as it is now, and it really is the place to be, esp for DD and DS. I'm almost afraid to mess with that energy. I wonder if that is why I'm getting push back from everyone? zmith, sage advice! I just checked and the drawer in the corner would be impacted about 3", thank you!...See MoreGE Cafe French door double wall oven. Would this bother you?
Comments (57)To those who asked: Yes….You can easily remove the copper cuff from the handle. We bought stainless Wolf/Sub-Zero/Cove appliances with “Pro“ handles for our kitchen, but wanted the amazing Cafe Advantium microwave (with Pro handles) for the coffee bar area in the kitchen. We do love the Advantium. However, we were disappointed the emblem/cuff was copper instead of stainless, and there isnt even a stainless cuff option available for special order. The company claims this copper cuff was intentionally designed & ”jewelry inspired”. The copper cuff clashed with our other Pro handles, so we removed the cuff in five minutes with two allen wrenches. Looks much better now and matches our other appliance handles. Monogram/Cafe should offer the option of a discrete stainless cuff. Not everyone wants ”jewelry” on their appliance handles....See Morekris_zone6
