Comments (13)Don't write off fabric just yet. You could use microsuede, Crypton, or any of the newer indoor/outdoor fabrics available now. My DD chucked a whole bowl of tomato soup on one of my pale blue microsuede chairs and I swear it cleaned up perfectly. I think softer lines, and fabric, would bring some balance to the angularity of your room. I love the artwork and might think about pulling some color from the painting next to the stairs into said fabric. I know and love your kitchen from the KB. Nice to see you over here. looking forward to seeing more! :-)...See Moreneed help navy dining room
Comments (4)I find the board and batten forcing the art to be hung too high but I love navy walls and especailly since the ceiling is already done . I find the china cabinet a bit odd for the space and IMO a nice buffet would be a better choice Yes you need a rug and then choose the covers for the chairs . I also do not ever like angled seating at a table it is so limiting I would suggest a nice round glass top if you want a glass table in quite thick glass and since I am not sure of the room size I can only guess at least as large as what you have, IMO if plants are not healthy do not use them and I always like drapes in DRs...See MoreNeed help with dining room chairs
Comments (13)Hi Ed I assume the leaves will come out to make the table an appropriate size for the space? I have used this table a few times and I think the color could work as is. Changing the stain color is going to be tricky as this table is a combination of solid wood and veneers. Instead of taking the table darker I would ground it with a nice neutral rug with some depth in color to it. I would consider taking your walls darker and doing lighter drapery panels against them for contrast. I would choose chairs with a different finish. Black chairs would tie into your metals. You can balance that by doing upholstered arm chairs in the ends in a neutral fabric. Once the table is in the room I think youre going to find that it makes your existing light look a bit wimpy. If you can, two chandeliers would be nice but if its not an option I would think about one large linear light....See MoreNeed help with dining room area
Comments (20)From the look of the table and chairs and floor you like more of a monochromatic look. I would look for a buffet with tall legs or a wall hung cabinet wider than the one you tried. In the color of the chair upholstery, or chair legs. Wall hung will give you more floor space visually and I would hang it a bit higher than a normal buffet. If you wanted to bring some color in, rug and artwork. I like the idea of sconces also. Your table is blocky, chairs are solid, maybe some iron sconces and a cabinet with some texture or carving to it for some interest. Depending on what it reflects, an interesting shaped mirror would add some uniqueness. Just depends on your decorating style. I actually love the serenity of your space. What does your kitchen and living room look like? Not that everything has to match, design wise, but it's nice to have a good flow. Then a fabulous chandelier to top it off!...See Moremarym0113
