Help me pick dining room chairs!
Comments (37)firsthouse...I don't know. They come up pretty regularly...but not so regularly that I'd guarantee that they'd match. Have you hit the thrift shops/resale shops/goodwill in your area? That's where I found mine...and NC was NOT a bastion for MCM design. Lots of stuff made here...not much SOLD here. If you are in the SF area there should be lots of thrift stores with DM style chairs. Here are mine...recovered: From kitchen table to refinish Mine aren't anything special...not a known designer or brand...but they WERE cheap. $225 for all six. Of course...they had so many staples in them I ended up paying to have them re-upholstered instead of doing it myself...at $90/chair...but it was worth it. If you want to search on ebay...try running two searches. One as "mid-century modern dining chair" and one as "Danish Modern dining chair." And don't forget Craigslist....See MoreChairs for antiqu oak table
Comments (12)I suppose if I find 6 oak chairs, then two Upholstered chairs at the ends. I presently have an all wood set with only a bar cart in my L shaped living-dining room and must say it is safe but dull. Please ignore the real estate pics, and the table surroundings. I do manage to put together decent decor and am asked to help others. With myself though, I definitely do agonize until a designer simplifies my dilemmas. If necessary, can lose the table altogether, just love the solid wood, size, and the way the leaves work and store. Will post again once it is in the new space....See MoreNeed help picking out modern dining room chairs to go with this table
Comments (13)The table has a really muscular right-angled solidity to it. It’s wonderful... but I think that means you need some color and curves with the chairs! Judy’s suggestion seems to me like it matches too much with the table and doesn’t jnfuse life. I think the red west elm suggestion is a great one. But I think your paint is slightly on the cool side, so I’d recommend this blue-ish colored chair— https://www.target.com/p/2pc-copley-upholstered-dining-chair-project-62-153/-/A-52962328?preselect=54210220#lnk=sametab...See MoreUpdated again: Yes or no to these chairs?
Comments (25)I realized my table is slightly taller than typical, so finding chairs that have a high enough seat has been a limiting factor and has ruled put many that I liked. I found these and am on the fence. They are black, which I thought I’d like, but I think I would have preferred more of a black stain than the more solid black on these chairs. The curves in the chair seem to go well with the curves in the table legs, but do they give a formal vibe? (I am not a formal person!!!). I could reupholster to a different fabric pretty easily if that would tip them over the edge into greatness category😉....See Morethinkdesignlive
