How would you dress this window combo?
Comments (1)Mojotay, since you are looking to add color to the room I would do stationary drapes on either side of the windows leaving the main window exposed. I would mount the drapes as close to the ceiling as possible and probably would do tab tops. Which you then could use finials instead of rods to hang the drapes. What are your ideas?...See MoreHow would you dress these big windows?
Comments (18)Ideally the rod should end at the same point to either side of the window. Since one end of the window ends at the wall, it would look odd to have the outer sides extend beyond the end so that the drapes would stack behind the windows and not obstruct the view. I'd consider using a corner bracket at the corner instead of two rods with finials for that reason or as jboling suggests just two shorter rods at the outer corners. My first choice, though, would be some simple woven wood shades which would go beautifully with the lake view/trees....See MoreWindow dressing.. How would you dress these 3 bay-like period windows?
Comments (9)Wow...are you sure a question like that doesn't require a site visit? Seriously, if you don't need coverings for practical reasons, don't bother as the room is beautiful. if those are single glazing, you might wish to have roller blinds fitted against the window and hidden by trim work painted to match the window trim. You would lose a few inches at the top but a talented trim carpenter could make them look almost like a part of the window trim. I could see custom made radiator covers that would mimic the wainscoting would turn those obstructions into a desirable feature. For the top use the same profile and dimensions, at the same height, as the window sills. Columns on the ends and probably three panels of approximately same proportions as the existing ones across the front of the radiators would work well. Do some research on radiator cover design as you need to have good air flow coming in from the bottom and exiting at the top and a properly designed cover will actually help, not hinder heat distribution from the radiators. Despite the term, more heat comes from convection than radiation and channeled air flow will increase the heat transferred to the room. Let me know if you need a link to info about radiator cover designs...See MoreHow would you recommend doing window treatments for this room?
Comments (8)I agree with the light filtering blinds, I 'd go with down/up for an interesting look. Although, you will still need fabric panels of some sort, I would go with grommet oanels for acoustical value, I see the TV will be in that area. Also a very large area rug....See MoreErrant_gw
