Has anyone seen Cut Flowers of the World (book) yet?
Comments (5)Well I actually requested that my library buy it and now I have a copy in hand that they purchased at my request. :) It's a well done book and covers a wide range of flowers but for me it doesn't go into enough depth. Specialty Cut Flowers by Armitage and Laushman is much more useful for me as a grower. I think that Cut Flowers of the World would be most useful to florists or individuals who are mostly interested in floral arranging rather than floriculture. I've included a link to a photo of two facing pages so that others can see a typical example of the format of this book. There are about 40 pages on care and handling of cut flowers (only 6 pages on cultivation and harvest) and then 329 encyclopedic pages in the format shown in my photo. It is nice to have good quality photo examples of the flowers but as a grower I also need in depth species specific information on production and harvest. Here is a link that might be useful: Cut Flowers of the World Example Pages...See MoreInterior Door Handles...Where To Buy?
Comments (13)I second lockhouse.com. They used to be called Kwiklocks. I purchased my whole houseful of door knobs and cabinet knobs and pulls. They have great service terms and if you don't live in TX you don't pay tax. If your order is over a certain amount (I think it used to be 300.00) you don't pay shipping either. I used Emtek knobs. One of my knobs was defective and I ordered wrong on a couple. Returning wasn't a problem and they promptly sent out my new ones so I didn't keep my GC waiting. My GC was very skeptical about all of my online purchasing. I saved so much time and money doing it that way. I tried to order way ahead of time to be sure I had everything when the time came to install. Most items I ordered were not that big so it was easy to stack them somewhere in the house we were living in. comfortdog...See MoreHas anyone seen Porgy and Bess?
Comments (6)Agree, sit in the back, be prepared to leave during intermission, but also consider reading about it or watching a documentary about the show, the background, etc. I find that the more I know about things going on when a show was first made, or the performers, or the costuming, or odd things that have occurred with other productions of a show, the more interested I am in the performance. Engages more of my brain, ya know? Then during intermission, have a plan to talk about all that and anticipate what's coming in the next act. Now, I'm not particularly energetic but I am so fidgety when in an audience. Having a box of Altoid Smalls helps....See MoreHas anyone seen the whirlpool sunset bronze appliances
Comments (49)In 2002 I really wanted copper appliances Just how much do you want these? Is it worth a lot of money to you? Copper isn't exactly cheap. But the good news is that it is easy to work with. And most appliances are pretty straight-forward to disassemble. If you are sufficiently determined, you can take apart the front panel of your appliance and have a local metal fabricator replicate it out of copper. In some cases, you can also buy panel-ready appliances that would make this whole exercise a little easier. And in rare instances, you might be able to convince the appliance manufacturer to sell you a copper panel. I believe Bluestar has (or had) a "precious metal" series. I am not sure if it was available for all of their models. But I have seen that they can make copper oven doors. They look gorgeous. And of course, copper sinks are thing. Just head over to Dino Rachiele's website. So yes, if this is your highest priority wish-list item, then it absolutely is something that can be customized. As with most non-standard design choices though, it'll cost you. If you do go this route, you owe us pictures! :-)...See Moreceezeecz
