looking for more info on this tree

I was given a pod off a "Giant Star Potato", it contained over a hundred seeds in which three quarters of them germinated, In less then a year I have one that is 8 feet tall , loaded with egg plant type flowers. I know they are cold sensitive a need a damp soil base and will achieve a maximum height of about 15 feet; other then that it seems they are somewhat enigmatic, if anyone knows any more about them please let me know...Nick

If you google "Solanum Macrantham", you will find all sorts of information. I have the smaller one Solanum Wrightii and don't do much with it, not even water it, unless absolutely necessary and it is beautiful. Mine is eight feet tall, I feed it when I feed my other plants, prune it when the branches get in the way of the walkway and that's it. The only problem that I've had with it is that the Sri Lanka weevil finds it and chews it up but that seems to be more in the summer time.

This is a picture of the Solanum Macranthum in bloom and it does not have "eggplant type flowers. Is this your plant?

Yes! it looks like it, I got the seeds out of a pod and germinated about 50 of them last May, and I now have 4 in the ground,and the rest in 15 gallon containers; one of the ground planted ones is about 8 feet aleady!, so now I am not sure what variety I have??...it says that the Macranthum will grow to 15 feet, so I guess I will find out by seeing how much taller it gets,. Do they look the same? thorny stems, and leaves? because I must say , your picture is spot on to what I have grown. Thank You ! for this info and a follow up would be greatly appreciated!...Nick

I bought 2 bonanza dwarf peach trees back in 2009. They are planted in the ground and have doubled in size since being planted. Currently they are about 4' - 5' tall. They are healthy, bloom like crazy, and every year for the last 3 years they've been covered with "would be peaches" HOWEVER the fruit NEVER develops into an edible peach. The fruit stays green and gets a bit bigger than a peach seed then JUST STOPS. Why? Is this normal? Granted, I probably shouldn't have bought peach trees at Lowes but I'd never seen a small variety and the tag on these said they wouldn't get larger than 6 feet (which was perfect for my yard). Why are they setting fruit but not producing mature fruit? Here's one of the trees (below). The other one is 8 feet to the right (not pictured). Here's how big the "fruit" is (below). It has been this size for a month with no sign of getting any bigger - just like last year, and the year before that (sigh).

Forma tomomi was coined by Alfred Rehder for a habit variant with "Crown more slender than the type, sparsely branched; needles shorter, only 8-15 mm long, by exception to 20 mm" which "Originated in the USA before 1909" (Translated version of Krussmann conifer manual). Arrowhead may have a dwarf cultivariant resulting from propagations of weaker shoots or a different introduction entirely.

well, by removing some lights, you could actually be making the others brighter. i have a few strands that if you remove more than 1-2 lights, the strand gets real bright! light strands are series-parallel circuits that are setup so that each bulb basically gets 1.5 to2.5 volts across it, depending on the exact setup of the strand. by removing bulbs, you change the ciruit resistance, and up the voltage to each bulb. as this happens, the bulb gets brighter and gives off more heat. remove enough and the circuit is broken completely on most stradns and you get no light. also, you say unscrewing the bulbs, so i take it this is not the mini lights but the older 4 or 9 watt screw in bulbs. they will produce much more heat than the smaller bulbs. as configured from the manufacturer, the bulbs should be safe. of course we all know that chinese crap may not be, but if the bulbs run cooler with all bulbs in, then i would leave it alone.

Very nice chairs...I would say "sharaton-esque"...narrow legs at the bottom and openwork backs. Probably mixed wood with mahogany stain...50's? maybe as late as the 80's. I am looking at the staples and thinking ti looks like original upholstery and staples were not usually used but for these past 30 or 40 years. Origin? Factory made....somewhere.

oops! I just re-read your post, I thaught the pectures were of the variety you have, but it is of the variety that I think I have, so it is a Macranthum; the flowers are similar to an eggplant, or a today, tomorrow and yesterday. what type of flowers does your variety produce?

Mine produces the same kind of flower and has thorny stems and leaves. If you google it and see the pictures, you can't tell the difference between them. It could be that yours will get taller.
