If you have the books for it, I'd do it. But I wouldn't if the bookshelves are primarily intended as decorative space. Also, I think it would look less busy if you have some book groups, like in the inspiration picture on the shelves above the ladder rail, that have matching spines. Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting the (in)famous books-by-the-yard decorative fraud. And I'm not among the anti-"clutter", get-rid-of-so-many-books crowd, either. I live with more 10,000 of them and they are everywhere in my house on shelves that span from skirting board to cornice molding. But your inspiration photo appears to have one densely booked-up wall while adjacent ones are normal. That mitigates the overall effect in an attractive, not overwhelming way, at least for ordinary, less book-obssessed households than mine. Two other things (besides the dusting issue): a) the thought of books in a conservatory makes me a little nervous because of the potentially damaging moisture issues, and b) windows that large will expose the books to a lot of very damaging UV light. Not a good thing for books with any intrinsic value. You could cover each book with a library-quality mylar jacket, but that would only delay, not eliminate, long-term UV damage to the covers and DJs. My most valuable books are kept in a room with relatively low external light and I make a point of not leaving the lights on in that room except when I am in there using it. But if you are, like me, intent on living with your books on a daily basis then have them where ever they can fit. And more shelves offer the possibility of more book purchases, so there's nothing discouraging about that! L

So the top 12-18" of the kitchen and pantry cabinets will be for long term storage. I have that now in my current home and it is very useful, the items that we use a few times a year are stored up high. Out of the way but accessible when I need it. I currently have a flip out step stool I grab and use about once or twice a month. I think a library ladder would be more useful and it will not be stored as I post in the pic, that shows it in use. I would store it flat against the end wall of bookshelves or in the pantry. The second sink and mini fridge are for my wine bar. That is my baby and my deal breaker on moving to to the mountains at all. I don't cook, but I do make craft cocktails and have an extensive collection of wines, vintage glassware and cocktail paraphernalia. I will also have a small wine cellar in the basement near the elevator. The development where we are building does no allow for one story. For budgetary reasons, two masters up works better. The guest room on the main can be a master if the need arises but we are good with the 2 up. The elevator is on the exterior because it works there, I need to be able to access it from the garage but not interfere with the garage itself. This place is all about the view out the back wall along the dining, living and secondary view out the left side and the grilling deck off the kitchen. This is the best placement to get groceries up from garage and not interfere with the view or vaulted living area.

I think mixing warm and cool colors (i.e. beige and gray) is very tricky and very hard to advise based o n how colors on computer monitors display. On my phone your colors look quite differently from my laptop. For example, your sofa looks different on every picture, sometimes more gold, sometimes more orange, beige, or even slightly greenish. I'd probably go with an off beige or cream. Bunch of more pictures although the first three sofas don't seem to be mor epinkish brown. How about something like this? Accessible Beige or Agreeable Gray might work here and lots of cream, off white, beige, greige, warmer grays. Alternatively, would something like BM Quiet Moments or Healing Aloe? Or SW Sea Salt or a very, very light blue/gray? Probably wouldn't work with red, though. It would have to be around the same size as the printer box that is there right now and the door will open no problem. So no larger than a a couple feet wide. Our home is more on the traditional side but we have some modern furniture. I would say transitional is the best description of style! We also need an office chair that will match the chaise.
