Broccoli soup is simmering right now.. and smelling mighty good!

Tuna noodle casserole. Wanted to run the oven to help warm me up.

Oven baked salmon with butter sauce, baked acorn squash stuffed with brown/wild rice pilaf, mixed greens salad with walnuts, goat cheese, lots of veggies.

I seldom post here (dinners are pretty boring) but thought I would tonight because it's a recipe that I got from here. It was posted by glenda_al back in 2013. She called it Caribbean Jerk Chicken and it's become a family favourite.

Caribbean Jerk Chicken

Here's the recipe. I use a rotisserie chicken from my Safeway and the only changes I make are to quickly stir-fry up some red onion and green pepper and to add some corn. Sometimes I add some extra seasonings. We really enjoy it.

broiled marinated chicken breast, baked yams, steamed broccoli and store bought coconut custard pie.

Beef chuck roast (browned and in my slow cooker with garlic and onions), mashed potatoes and gravy, steamed kale, mixed green salad with walnuts and cranberries (dried).

BBQ steak, baked potatoes with trimmings, green peas and garlic toast.

Prairie Rose, do you barbecue all winter long, or was it because the weather was nicer today?

Morz I love a well-done roast, and the slow cooker makes it easy. I also love cranberries in my salad. Have you tried them with roasted brussels sprouts? That's a favourite with us.

Monica I made sweet potato fries last week and we loved them. The last time I tried baking them, they oozed out over my oven. I didn't realize they cooked so much faster than white potatoes.

Shirley, I wasn't sure if today classified as a "holiday" today (Family Day) so I made sure I roasted my vegetables before 5 pm to at least get the mid-rate hydro rate. I hate the smart meters.

Moni, I add cheddar cheese to my broccoli soup. Probably negates any positive benefits of the broccoli, but it sure tastes good.

I just made and ate a bowl of cauliflower soup (with cheddar). It's okay. I added some extra spices from the cupboard, but it's still very mild.

Jasdip, You bet we bbq all year round. Doesn't everyone? Or is just a redneck Alberta thing? LOL

I'm confused. By BBQ, do you mean 'grilled'? As over coals or gas on the outdoor grill?

Yes ma'm, that is exactly what I mean. As long as it isn't snowing heavy or a gale force wind, we will fire up the BBQ. Mine is propane, and on my back deck, which is somewhat sheltered from the north winds, but in a direct path of a westerly. We have even BBQ in a torrential downpour. That was way trickier than bbqing in the cold.

I was just confused about the BBQ term, not the activity itself. BBQ means something else entirely in much of the rest of the country, though it does involve a grill.

We grill outside most of the year, too, over coals.

We call it BBQ as well and we do it all year. Fortunately our deck is covered 'cause it's tough to barbecue when it's raining sideways as it does in the winter here..

Rhizo, "BBQ" or Barbecue is what we call grilling. No one that I know of says to fire up the grill, or I'm going to grill some steaks. We don't have all of the BBQ restaurants like you do in the states. Unless you call Swiss Chalet BBQ lol.

We "grill" too. I had the same reaction as Rhizo. LOL
