First iris bud spotted! Feels like spring. . .
Comments (4)Karen I ordered my Iris kochii from Argyle Acres online. AA is a topnotch iris vendor and sells a lot of historics. They sell it under the name Kochii. I don't have enough of it to divide yet. Rosebush your iris sounds like one of the pallidas. They are yummy!...See MoreFirst Daylily Bloom, Dutch Iris, Iris Views
Comments (9)Once I discovered the iris I was very happy as it gave me that bloom season I had been trying to find with those extra early daylilies. Honestly about the only great thing about that daylily is that I am able to post on May 23 that I have a daylily bloom. But otherwise forget it. Those few extra earlies are in a row in front of the extra lates in the front yard. Sooner or later I will get the urge and find more extra lates. Then I will replace the really nerdy extra earlies and take their spots. Meantime they stay. Christine- I have no secret with the Dutch Iris. I planted them all last fall, they came up this spring. I am hoping they come back each year but that remains to be seen. I do know that I plan to get more to plant in other places this fall....See MoreDe-budding iris?

I get a lot of West Coast things and many bloom on stalks at registered heights the first year and continue to prosper throughout the season. The new ones from CA always do the best here. OR stuff may or may not perform well the first year here. Certain OR growers' rhizomes do better for me than others and they are all in the same area, probably no more than ten or fifteen miles apart. Figure that one out! Comments (13)Irisgal, this is the first year that Millenial Falcon did this. Last year, it was Oasis Donut. Thank you all for looking! I have a very good year for iris. I did not think that some of the iris that I moved last year would bloom this year but they did. Here are some of the lone stalks: Sea Swells, my favorite blue iris Prime Power Unchain my Heart Pemcaw...See Moresylviatexas1
