Paint for a Carrarra Marble Bathroom?

I had a lot of great help in here to repaint a troublesome bathroom and bedroom in our old home that we sold last year after removing tons of wallpaper. Thanks for that!

Now I am looking for paint suggestions to go in our new Master Bathroom in a home we are currently building.

The flooring is to be White Carrara Marble Hexagons (not sure if they will be 2" or 3" yet) framed by White Polished Carrara Marble Tiles. The idea is to make the flooring look like a rug. I got the idea from an online picture.

There will be White Carrara Polished marble tiles on the wall of my shower with a single horizontal strip of glass tile (picture included) in my shower. Smaller marble hexagons will be repeated on the floor.

Our bath cabinets are to be a dark chocolate brown color with towers on either side and with a mirror framed to look like furniture. The handles are to be crystal pulls. Each bath cabinet will have two single chrome and crystal sconces on the mirrors. The counter top will also be done in White Carrara Marble. The white sinks are undermounted with Polished Chrome faucets that have crystal knob on top of the stopper.

There is a barrel ceiling with a chrome and crystal chandelier hanging from the middle of the room. All fixtures are to be Polished Chrome and the tub is white.

The room itself gets plenty of light as there is a rather large window over the tub. (That will definitely need to be covered with some good window treatment before we use the room!) My builder suggested plantation shutters, but I am not sure I would like that idea in there.

Anyway, I was thinking of doing a darker grey paint on the barrel ceiling with a lighter grey paint on the walls. Or should I do the reverse??

I have a hallway between the bedroom to the bathroom with walk in closets on both sides of the hall I need to paint, too. There will be another chandelier in that hall since the bath chandelier will not likely show at all due to the barrel ceiling.

I am probably going with silver and turquoisish colors in our bedroom so I may do grey in there as well. However, I am not done picking all my linens out yet, though.

Suggestions for colors and pictures of some sample rooms would be terrific. And thank you to all those who respond.

Oh I would provide pictures, but the wallboard isn't even up in there yet.

Yes there are many types and colors of travertine. You really need to give us the type. Some have red undertones, others yellow and others have blue/gray undertones. What would work for one, would look awful with another.

I like a soft gray grout with cararra especially on the floor where a white grout gets grubby no matter how clean you are so that should work . I think Mountainscape is a pretty color but IMO an actual color might be nice with all the cararra to brige the whites

Sure, if it looks good with the paint. It would have to be a few shades darker. Since Gray Owl, on the card with the progressively darer shades, looks like it is a greige, the darker colors become brown. So you would have to go to the paint store and find a charcoal that looks good with the greige color. If you go to the Benjamin Moore site (google Benjamin Moore Gray Owl) they will lead you to look at the color in different rooms, and it you go to where you can change the colors for the different elements in the room you will get the chance to see the Gray Owl with other colors. I see it with Silver Spring 2120-50 and it looks great,, a darker gray that will look nice with Carrara. Not Charcoal, but charcoal is awfully dark. This is from that site and it purports to show Gray Owl walls and Silver Spring doors and fireplace. It is worth a look, as the combo looks like it might go nicely with the Carrara. Your veins are quite dark, so might take a darker color. You are there and you can see, we can't, go to the paint store and see what looks good with the marble, take a sample with you to pick out the paint.

It sounds like you want your MB to have the feel more of a living room than a bathroom. I'd paint it a good, rich color. Recommend, once again, BM Vintage Charm to go with the chocolate brown cabs and other grays, silvers, and whites.

I'd pick up on that pinkish mauvish taupe gray in the accent tile, something like BM violet pearl. I'd definitely go with a darker color in the barrel vault like a BM vintage charm.

I used Benamin Moore Wedgewood Gray in my bathroom with Carrara marble and espresso cabinets. It's much more blue than gray and looks best when it gets lots of light.

Sounds like a beautiful bathroom! Personally, I like light airy for a bathroom. All of your elements are pretty neutral at this point so you could pretty much go with any color.

We used BM gray wisp. It looks a bit greener in the picture.

Beautiful colors, everyone!

Annie and Tibrux: I love it! Vintage Charm is the darker color I take it for the barrel. And I just love that Violet Pearl for the walls, Annie. Thanks!

So should I paint the rest of the ceiling white or paint it the Violet Pearl, too? Just wondering.

pps7 that Artic grey is really nice, too.

So in order to move down the hall into the Master I probably should pick out a more greyish blue for that area. So I could consider that BM Silver Chain. I need to do some more work on fabrics in the main bedroom before I go to much farther in wall paint, though.

Everything is in the mess stage right now with foam insulation just being completed and they are geting ready to put all the wallboard in.

I will definitely be posting pictures of the progress.....either here or in the building section .and will be looking for more suggestions for finalizing our decor in there and some of my other rooms.

Oh yes! Do the Vintage Charm in the barrel (I was thinking for the walls originally) and I think Nightingale on the wallsÃÂ I think the violet pearl doesn't have the weight to carry the Vintage Charm.

Nightingale is a sophisticated, very subtle purple.

You know what? I take that back about the Violet Pearl It looks different in Annie's swatch than it does when I pulls fit up. I'd try both the Violet Pearl and the Nightingale and see what they look like up on the wall.

The violet pearl is so soft, you could put it up on the ceiling too...I'd save the dark tone for the barrel only.

Take a look at the HGTV dream home{{gwi:807}} 2015...they used a soft turquoise on the ceiling in their marble bath...

Annie, I think I like the mauve look better than the turquoise look. I will be doing turqouise elsewhere so I think I should do the bathroom differently since it is pretty separate from the rest of the home.

And wow is that Violet Pearl gorgeous in that picture above!

I will definitely look into both of the greys mentioned above, but I am leaning towards the violet pearl just after seeing that picture alone.

Yes, the Violet Pearl is so pretty, and with some champaign colored accents or drapes, like in that pic, with the marbleÃ¢ÂÂ¦gorgeous.

I think the Nightingale is pretty much a deeper version of the Violet Pearl.

I hope you'll update us with pics when it's done! What a gorgeous color combo!
