I just did that about 2 weeks ago. Make sure you get all of the triv,take out a little extra around perimeter. Also you need to get the rhizomes because it will come right back. My lawn is tttf,I went to a local sod farm and for about $10 I replaced a few spots. It blended in fine. My lawn is dark green also. It's smart to tackle the triv now because it spreads fast. I been battling it for a few years now. It's not a race,it's a marathon. I also picked up some sod staples from HD so when you mow it will stay in place til it takes root. Good luck.

As madroneb said, they were little bulbs not seed. The little bulbs are up and growing now! I tilled up a small spot, smoothed, and spread them over it. Then I covered them with some used potting soil so that it would be easy for them to break through. They are about 2" high now. I think they all came up! I thinned them Sunday and replanted the ones I pulled, They had good roots and they look like they are recovering nicely. I hope they make it through the winter! I think they will because we rarely have frozen ground here. I didn't count but I would say that I have about 50 or more.

I completely understand your feelings. You move into a community because of the environment, but then neighbors decide to change it. Your statement,"It is their property and I suppose they should be allowed to do what they want with it." isn't really true. There are zoning laws that control what people do to their property. Also, there isn't a country in the world that lets people do whatever they want with their property, including ours. If a person thinks they own their property, they should stop paying their property taxes and see how long it would take the government to take it away from them and sell it to someone else, three years in this state. Point being, is that there are communities that regulate cutting down trees. Issaquah is one, you have to have a permit to cut trees down. Of course it doesn't take much to get that permit, but then I have seen land owners who didn't have the permit that were starting to cut trees down, being stopped by their neighbors who reported them. My own feelings is that any tree that isn't a danger to home or person shouldn't be cut down. But that leaves lots of open ground for people to cut trees down. With this State's population growing as fast as it is, with a projection of twenty million in twenty years, there will be a lot more trees cut down.

If your front to back measurement for your sink run cabinets is less than standard, you might be able to make a non-IKEA farmhouse sink work. Is that what you mean about the size of the sink? My sink run cabinets are right around 22 inches, but my house was built in 1926. Most are 24 with an inch or so countertop overhang in the front. Farmhouse sinks are often meant to stick out a bit from the cabinets so the IKEA sinks measure more than 24 inches front to back.
