Laser vision correction

Have any of you tried this? My body is starting to fall aprt. This morning I got out of bed with a stiff back and my husband suggested that I take an ibuprofen. I grabbed the bottle to read the minisucule dosage instructions on the back, and to my horror, the writing was blurry for a few seconds until my vision focussed properly.
The inevitable is probably approaching: I will have to get the dreaded reading glasses in the next year or two. Now I am already nearsighted but have been wearing contact lenses quite happily for the past couple of decades. I can't stand glasses: they slip down my nose, get lost, get dirty and fall off at wrong moments. Now I know that laser surgery will correct the nearsightedness, but does it also correct shortsightedness so that I wouldn't need dam* reading glasses? Also, if you wear contact lenses for nearsightedness, do you have to take them out and use reading glasses when you pick up a book? Ackkk...what a pain! Thanks for your thoughts and experiences.
