The weeping gene is dominant, and it's possible someone with in bee distance of the parent of your apple has a weeping crab. You could plant another seed from an apple and hope for a stand up one, with a sturdy trunk. If you don't know how to graft, just plant them in the same hole and twist them together as they grow. You could also plant them in the same hole, skin the bark where they touch, and tape them together. They will grow tother after a few years and you can cut off the bits you don't want. Choice three is to cut a slice out of the side of one, not all the way through, then do the same on the other. Take a knife and cut down into one slice and up into the other, so the two can be locked together without severing them from their roots. Tape them like that. When they grow together, again, cut off the bits you don't want. This gives a fairly strong joint and allows more than one year for it to get strong. You get a sturdy trunk of whatever height you want, with the weeping bits on top....umbrella like.

Hi, I have one of these beauties. They used to be grown by all the major growers like flemings but are now hard to find.
