Sounds like the Ph of the soil is wrong, camelias are acid loving plants and like the soil around 5.0 to 5.5. I think you may be fertilizing too much. The Main time to do it is in the Spring and you can repeat in January, sometimes it is a good idea to use a soluble fertlizer from Winter to early Spring maybe once a month, try using a Camellia and Azalea fertlizer as the main one.

The brown could be burn from the excessive amount of fertlizers you are using. Also try picking off the Caterpillers by hand, and the plants may need a bit more water have you got under the mulch and checked that the soil is damp as sometimes it may only seen that way, dig down and have a feel, it could be the roots, those two plants could have been potbound when you bought them, Hope this helps...MM.

sounds like you have given to much TLC,lightening of leaves is sunburn, and trying to fix is to late, you may need to cover from hot sun/ heat next season. You need to have them in correct position, not to much midday sun, not to much shade, to make good conditions. Try this site, my be of use, good luck. Peter r

I think I have found my problem, thought I'd go out there and dig down deep to see what is happening, and to my suprise, parts of the ground were dry! Time to get out the re-wetting agent again! and deep soak. Can't really undo the damage done, but hopefully in time things will recover. I guess it's a lesson to learn. Watering can still catch you out.

DB may not have been everyone's favourite, but he found dry shrubs in a row to be a very common problem and made up a long probe to deep water. On one programme it was Sasanqua Camellias that had the water problems you sre having, but they were beside a fence with a hot pavement on the other side to boot.
