Blossomtime-be prepared to lose your heart

She is a climbing rose of old fashioned beauty-sumptuous and so very romantic.She grows well and has 2 main flushes followed by lesser showings.

A light scent-but who needs knock-you-over perfume when you look like this?Sometimes I think I love her best of all roses-but then I get distracted. :)

Oh wow! Sandie, that's sumptuous, luscious and I want several! Thanks for sharing - for some reason it reminds me of Jane Austen and crinoline gowns. Just gorgeous.

Wow!! That is some very important information ALL women should know! Why are they not telling us?? Or more importantly, why isn't it common knowledge? Ridiculous. One of my friends had a mild heart attack not too long ago. She told me that she woke up from a dead sleep (so to speak), and she couldn't catch her breath. She soon lost consciousness, but luckily, her hubby was home (very luckily, since he's a long-haul truck driver and is gone a LOT). She's fine now, thank God. Another friend of mine also had a mild heart attack (uhhh, maybe I need to find new friends?! LOL Just kidding!). She said her only symptom was dizziness, before finally losing consciousness. Luckily (again), she was on the phone with her sister, who promptly dialed 911. She's also fine now. Stay safe, ladies! Brenda

I used to feel so sad about loosing my grandmother. But the ups and downs of health are part of old age. I heartily recommend what others have said, try to treasure the moments you have without fretting about the inevitable. I wish I had done that more with my grandmother, although I did spend a lot of time with her. I wasn't as present as I could have been though, because I just didn't want to deal with loosing her. I left that to my parents. But I was just a teen when she died. Still, I wish I had been stronger to deal with her infirmities. The last day I visited her in the hospital tears were gushing out of my eyes and I couldn't stop it. My grandmother was comforting me! I still miss her tons after 31 years.

my vet will be here at noon today. simon and i have been getting lots of cuddle time in over the past few days, i have explained to him what will happen today and i like to think he understands me. he will get a whole hershey bar all to himself and then i will give him a calming sedative an hour before dr. B arrives. when i look into simon's eyes, i see nothing but sadness. although i do not think he is in pain, he is sad and has been this way for several weeks. he no longer even tries to participate in the things he so loved to do...walking down to burn the trash, going out to feed the horses. he simply lays up by the deck and watches. the little sparkle in his sweet eyes is gone. this is not a decision i have reached lightly. i have agonized over it for week after endless week. in the end, i know it is the right one for both simon and for me. the emotional toll it has taken on me is indescribable, my feelings are much the same as i sat by my husband's bedside during his last hours. i take comfort in the knowledge that soon, simon will be running, on all four feet, right into gary's arms. they will watch over me and save me a place. my heart is in a million pieces. :(

Thank you so much everyone! It sorry I didn't respond earlier , I was away and didn't realize I had more replys. I love that my little girl loves to help in the garden ! I hope she has fond memories of it when she's older. I also hope I can be full of patience when she wants to be in the hole im digging , or needs my gloves ! :) rosy lady , that is a random pocket of good looking soil ! Haha it's mostly clay . I think my roses like it but it dries hard as a rock if you don't mulch it . I love the Volunteers gardener show! It's a great informative show. Love the garden tours they do . I wish more people grew this too . It's so lovely . Mine needs dead headed now .. gonna be a big bucket of spent blooms !

Michelle, I don't know what Sandie does - she will no doubt tell - but often painting the inside of a box BLACK and then paying the roses carefully on the flat bed scanner will give this beautiful effect.
The Altissimo isn't done this way, there's sky behind it.
Well done Sandie.. most pleasing to the soul :-)

Thanks folks-It pleases me that you like my scans.
Altissimo is also a scan-he has a faux background-that is it is a photo that has been 'painted' into the background.Makes a change from the black background.
I use a flatbed scanner and Paintshop Pro7.
Michelle-she's not an OGR-she just has the look of one.

Sandie-Thanks for the info-paintshop seems to a well thought of product from what I hear.
Fran -the black box is a wonderful idea!! I will give that a go.
I have Digital Image Suite 10 (bought on impulse)but the instruction book was so complicated I didnt even give it a go!! I will when I get a quiet moment.
I think the black background brings out all the colour of the roses. Sandie your pics on black are outstanding.

I think falling in love with pictures of roses is a dangerous thing.
My Henry is loking at me sideways every time I call him in to look at another beautiful picture, guess he sees another truckload of soil coming up the road anytime. !!!

What a wonderful photo of Blossomtime. Thank you. I fell in love with Blossomtime when I first saw it trained on semi-circle hoops on both sides of a set of descending stone stairs. It looked fabulous.
