Thanks again all! nanatricia - they are good in sun or shade. Most are ground covers and I have them growing in a rock garden which gets lots of sun. The pans can sit out all winter - I just advise bringing in the accessories. I had some out under a huge snow drift all winter and they all came back. Jan - I didn't paint the chairs. Those belong to the lady in the next booth. The tent was provided by the show, I just rented a double space of it. There were 4 other vendors in the same tent. One lady had the painted chairs, another had planted chairs and oil paintings, another had jams and flavored honeys, and the other had carved (engraved) rocks and birdbaths hewn out of stone. A few people had glass plate flowers and bird baths - quite expensive too, I might add. One vendor had a unique concept and I wish I had taken a picture for the board, but I hate it when people take pictures in my booth, so I didn't. He did plate flowers with huge ornate glass plates and other various beautiful glass bowls, and he used a resin coupling on the back that he had designed and molded himself. It had two holes in it that slipped over a PVC or copper pipe in the ground - one allowing it to be an ornamental plate flower (garden art) and one which allowed it to be placed upright on the "stem" (pipe), turning it into a bird bath, feeder or, as he was advertising it, to serve hors d'oeuvres or fruit, cheese, etc. for garden parties. THOSE babies were expensive though - over $150 per item. I was too far away from him to see how many of those he sold, but I'm guessing not many.

Sounds like a great place for wildlife! Off-topic, but since you mentioned jaguars, I stand on my theory that someone in eastern Kentucky breeds black jaguars and his customers turn the cubs loose when they get too rowdy. I.e., I was called in to sub teach at Rodburn elementary yesterday and in the lunch room one of the teachers was complaining about a "huge" "black panther" with a five foot tail in her backyard that leaped up onto a bank about 25 feet away before vanishing into woods. She said she called the fish and wildlife number but they told her that black panthers "don't exist in Kentucky" so they wouldn't come. I laughed and said that anytime I tell people in other states about the jaguar they react as though it's just a "hillbilly urban legend." I reassured her that I'd checked online and read they are harmless to humans and usually to livestock-just don't let her dog out of the house when one is around, and told her what happened to my neighbor's dog. That dog had to have $300 worth of stitches this fall, but Jeff said all the panther did was give the attacking dog one casual slap, then walked off without looking back. He also commented that it was black and had a "five-foot tail." Locals call them "black cougars" but also often see regular cougars, unaware that they are separate species. Meanwhile, DuBois told me a customer in West Liberty said he'd seen black panthers many times while hunting and taking care of his cattle. Wish I could see one. All I have are photos of the tracks-which are unique to the animal and a different size and shape from a cougar's track

OH dear. This is a very hot topic here. You may get some "not so nice" comments. First off I love cats, I have 4. They were brought in as strays and they have never set foot outside since (except my Ernie who likes to run out the door in the spring, I grab and bring right back in). Cats are killers of native wildlife as you have seen. There are many reports of the damage cats do to wildlife including birds. I am sure someone will send you links. There are also ways to let your cat enjoy the outdoors without puting your birds and critters at risk and I am sure you will get those links too. Please consider the safety of you cat and the safety of the critters and keep the cat inside unless you are with it. One other thought, and I am fighting with this now, your neighbors may not be any too happy with your cat in their yard. My neighbors let their cat out. First, I am a certified wildlife habitat with 5 nestboxes and 5 feeders, I have the right to not have the neighbors cat killing my critters including the frogs and toads in my pond, the cat does not belong on my property. Second the cat pees and poops in my garden. I should not have to put up with this , it's MY property. As you can tell I'm quite angry about this. Also I worry that any day I am going to see that cat dead in the road, I like the cat and would be extremly upset. Please reconsider letting your cat roam. It's not safe for the cat, your critters or birds and your neighbors will be happier. Hopefully someone can send you the link to the cat outside enclosures (I think Starlinka has one). Bells don't really work as birds do not know bells as being a threat until they have been attacked. Bless you for taking the cat in , now please keep it and the critters safe.
