Well first, tons of envy going your way. In my mind's eye, I live on a lake, but alas... only in my mind...

I have the SW fandeck here, so looked at your colors. The one thing that jumps out at me is that they are all fairly 'deep' on the strip, meaning they are pretty intense colors. Now I've been in some houses where this is the case and just been wowed by the impact. On the other hand, a lake house seems to me to be calling out for a bit more restful, 'easy' colors. But that could be just me! For example, your blues are quite intense, as compared say to strips 35, or 74,75,76 (the top to mid colors). So I guess I would give some thought to the overall mood you are looking for. Also, the nice thing about Sherwin Williams is that for $5 you can buy a nice sized sample. This would be wayyyy cheaper than paying to repaint something you just can't live with. At the very least I'd go buy a few of those colors in the sample size and put them up to see what you think. You may even consider painting them on poster board so you can move them from room to room to see how the light changes them. Also, be sure to check them in morning, afternoon, evening and nightime -as many paints can change dramatically with the light. You may like some colors in the morning light, but hate them at night.

Can't wait to see your house finished. Those colors are intense but since you've had those colors on the lower floors before and loved it, I would keep them. On the upper floor, I'm not sure about the Artichoke. It seems a bit too dark for bedrooms. My new favorite green is Svelte Sage but it's kind of close to your Softened Green. I'll have to look at this again a little later today. I'm off to take the kids to school. Hope you get lots of responses in the meantime.

I really love the colors you have chosen, probably since they are very similar to the ones I have in my home. When we had rooms that were running into others, we did (in two cases) opt to move down the swatch 2 colors for a lighter or darker shade- kept the eye moving without distracting from the space. I totally agree with 'bestyears'- buy the sample cans and put some paint on each wall- then go back and look at the rooms at different times of the day. We went through 35 (quarts) of paint trying out colors and shades until we felt like we nailed it. i know that may seem a bit over the top, but it has paid off in the long run. We also seemed to do the darkest or next to the darkest color on each strip. Many people told us that perhaps they would be too dark- but loved them when they were up. Most of all, remember, it is paint---- it CAN be changed .... We have been in our new house for 1 year and so far my daughter's room has been silver, black, lime green ...and now she is thinking purple. Bedrooms are easy to change--- I would just try to be sure in baths, kitchens and two story areas . Good luck and have fun with your choices! (oh- we were given 9 paint colors at the standard price- then paid extra for more)

I just checked the Green gallery and Artichoke is listed in there about 1/4 of the way down. I like it alot better seeing it in a room vs. just looking at the strip. I say go for it! ;c)

Lynn I have the fandeck here also. You are right. They are all fairly far down the strips. I guess I'm deathly afraid of having a pastel house and so it is really hard for me to look at the strip and go to the lighter colors. I fully intend to go through LOTS of SW little sample cans. I think drywall will start maybe tomorrow, so possibly this weekend? FUN! For the blue in the Master Suite, I do really want it to be restful. The color above Raindrop is Meander Blue which is also pretty. We have HUGE windows in the bedroom, so I was thinking I could get away with the darker color, but I will definitely try both on the wall. Here are the windows in that room. Not a lot of wall.

In the upstairs BR3, I have two little boys. I was thinking I might do some "boat" stickies on the wall in there like the following which is why I went with such a bright color and then "toned it down" in their bath.

Or I might do some framed "space" pictures like

Hi Lindy! Can you believe I made it this far. ;) They are intense colors. I know. I thought they worked really well in our old home, which was older and smaller, but I'm not sure how they will translate to the open spaces in the new. Just for reference, here are a few of the colors in our old home. This is Sundance in our old living room.

And this is Peppery in our dining room.

However, you definitely have me reconsidering the intense colors in the bedrooms upstairs. I did a bit of juggling... I changed the hall to Sole which is the lightest color on the Sundance strip. I changed the Bonus area to Clary Sage (one up from Artichoke) but will try both colors. I moved the Softened Green into the guest area and then introduced another color Sands of Time in the Guest/Kid's bedroom #2. I'm probably getting to the point where I just need to get a bunch of colors and try them out.

colorcrazed Good idea to move up and down the strip. I did that in the upper hall and if it isn't too "lemon pie", I may try that. It also think I may try the Sole in the Great Room and Foyer and keep the Sundance in the kitchen if it is overpowering in all the space. I really hope it doesn't take me 35 quarts to decide,...

Well personally, I like those colors much better but then I don't want to be the poster who talks you out of something you really wanted. Some people are drawn to more intense colors but I like the more muted ones and for the record, you aren't anywhere near pastels! LOL! Are you matching any furniture at all or getting new stuff? What about bedding colors?

Since you haven't been over here much, you might have missed a great thread about those who love bright colors in their homes. Scroll through here and see what you think.

lindybarts I like the second "upstairs" plan better also so you aren't talking me out of anything. I appreciate the feedback, and I realize I have a heightened "pastel" phobia.

For the furniture, we are keeping our "old" stuff. If you look at the pictures of our Living Room and Dining Room above, you'll get the idea. It is all Mission. Bulky wooden furniture with leather. The living room has maroon leather and the dining room has dark green leather. Our master set is Mission also. They boys rooms are kind of mismash. We still have one in a toddler bed, so we will be buying something new for one or both of them, depending on how they end up sleeping. Thankfully, we will be getting all new bedding and towels, etc. I've been holding off updating anything until we are settled, so nothing I need to work around wrt that.

Since you're going to have access to drywall, my suggestion is that instead of using poster board, use scrap drywall for your paint samples. When we finished our basement last year, I used 2' x 4' sections of drywall and they were super to move around and get a feel for the color (larger than poster board and they don't curl). I could paint over and over the same board too (had to, I ended up sampling 30+ colors!). I miss having the drywall to sample paint this year where I am using the poster board.

Or, you can just sample your colors right on the bare drywall--after all, it has to be painted anyway. One thing, though--don't use too many colors in the same spot--it builds up (there was one spot on my stairway where I used too many colors and I can tell where it was).

tracey_b, Great idea. I will wait until there are scraps laying around and then go scavenge. I really wasn't sure about painting directly onto the drywall before it was primed because I didn't want to "mess anything up" so that is a wonderful suggestion. I'd hate to get the painter mad at me before he even starts. ;-) I think I have a list of 15 samples to go and get this weekend. My DH is going to think I'm looney, but that will be SOP.
