Sand hill cranes jumping (courting?). Not the clearest, I was so excited I forgot to turn up the shutter speed, but I still like them.

I think they said it was a "tophat chicken" (or something like that) and that its "tophat" was less extreme than the ones that are entered in shows. However the more extreme ones often have trouble seeing because their feathers block their eyes, and they sometimes don't see things like a fox sneaking up.

Stopped by Pymatuning Lake and the famed spillway where people toss bread into the water. Carp gather in the bowl of the spillway so thick that it is said that ducks walk on their backs competing for the bread. The walkways and surroundings have been added to make it a very attractive area since I was there 10 years or so ago. The fish were thick in the bowl of the spillway yesterday, but the water was so dark and choppy, I didn't get any decent pics of them. Here the ducks gather and slide down the rim of the bowl to get the bread.

Uptown Gal - Thanks for asking. Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria) belongs to the Family: Lythraceae - is aggressive and invasive. Gooseneck loosestrife (Lysimachia clethroides) Family: Primulaceae - is aggressive and can choke out other perennials. It is useful in less than ideal conditions or naturalized. My patch is contained by a wall and walkway and has not been a problem. The showy flowers are pest free, attract butterflies, and make excellent cut flowers.

Nicole, great capture. I had a bunny in the yard this morning...looked and looked, but couldn't see an owl. Darn!

This is me at age 7 with the doll I got for my birthday. I wanted it soooo bad. Her name was "Amosandra"...a black, (as advertised) Betsy Wetsy type doll that your little girl will love. I did.

Thanks Kat & Gazania. :0) I'm gonna bore everyone to death with these owls....but I just love watching the expressions on their faces and reactions to everything.

Jae.....Glad you mentioned what it was....I didn't recognize it.

Nicole - I forgot to mention your photo.......that owl doesn't even look real! Think he was eyeballing that bunny for dinner?
