Have had a weird Christmas.

Wednesday, one of the horses at the farm needed put down and it was an awful time. He was a big ole boy with a heart of gold.

Yesterday, I was reading the newspaper and realized a friend might lose her house. It has been "sheriffed" by Wells Fargo who declared it abandoned even they have never left it. So in 3 weeks she, hubby, 3 teenagers, 2 dogs, 2 horses and several cats might be on the street. She went to work and is renting part of the house out and they can make payments again (they had bigtime financial/legal probs and her assets were frozen by a family member). Wells Fargo doesn't want to let her make the payments on a house she has lived in and made payments on for 20 years.

Crazy...

I'm hoping they can get it all worked out.

Didn't get much sleep for Christmas eve so hoping to crash tonight. Yawnnnn

Kathy, I'm so sorry for all of the bad news coming your way, lately. Sorry for having to lose your Big guy with the heart of gold, that has to so very hard. It should be criminal, the way the companies are so ready to get your name on the dotted line to sell a person a property, then when bad times hit, are not willing to work with a person to help them get over a hump. I do hope 2011 is a better year for you. Dottie

Just not right about what's happening to your friend and her family. Grrrr!

You ARE lucky to have found this site. I feel the exact same way. I have been fortunate to be ahead of the game here as we are still in the designing stage. We plan on breaking ground a year from this fall. I plan on having everything picked out before we submit our bid to the GC this coming fall. I currently have our exterior almost done (windows and doors are already picked out). I am now researching major appliances and bathroom fixtures. I have my custom cabinet company lined up, too, for any wood that we will have in the house. Still have a lot to decide on though! But so far it has been fun looking.

fallingwaters; first of all, know that your you and your dh, and his hea lth care prov iders are in my prayers. Your priorities are in the right place, although I know there is some disappointment after getting so much in place for the renovation. I, too, put off my kitchen for a year. My MIL fractured her hip and was having repeated complications, my husbands workload increased at work and by being the primary healthcare surrogate for his mom. I sensed that just having the stress of ripping out the kitchen -- but also of not HAVING a functional kitchen, was a bit more than our family could deal with. My kitchen is a place of respite, even if in it's current state it isn't perfect. My experience has been like needssometips and jreuter. I saved up some more $$. I'm not putting that extra into the kitchen, but it is giving us a bit more of a cushion. 2. I've gotten just about every wee decision made, down to the gar bage di sposal, and what I'm lining the drawers with. Except for the darn faucet. Still trying to figure it out. In the next few months as you go thru this with your husband, there will likely be times when you feel out of control. Looking at pulls and such and making a few decisions unrelated to the health aspects may help you get a feeling of control back. And in the middle of the night, when you can't sleep, no doubt someone has posted a tittilating post (I know that isn't spelled right) that may take your mind off the stressors for a few minutes.

Sunflowers! Those flowers are, to me, an emblem of all that is good about Garden Party. When my son died in 2012, I got not only tons of virtual sunflowers from GPers but also actual sunflowers from Janet from MD. But they are as good for happy news as for sad, and I give them to folks whenever I can. Have a birthday? a wedding? a new baby? Sunflowers are the thing.

I want to reach out to my friend, but will wait a few days. I am sure she is dealing with lawyers trying to stop the sale.

Awww, so sorry for all your bad news. I feel for your friend; was close to losing our house years ago and the uncertainty of it all really sucks. Luckily, we pulled through it; I hope she does too!!!

i'm so very sorry about your horse..

lets just hope the housing choke-up on people lessens next year...instead of bailing out the fat cats they should have bailed out mortgages..

my cyber pal's dd was in the same fix only she had to let the house go...now it's sitting vacant cause noone had the 68 grand they were asking for...so now they're having to pay to keep it heated. ect...(nw snow country) oh...the dumbest thing??? they gave her $5000 grand for cleaning the place and leaving it sparkling...it that insane??? why not give her that as credit on the property?

That is so sad about your horse and I'm very sorry for your friends. I just can't imagine the uncertainty of going through such an ordeal.

I, too, am ready for the new year and hoping for less stressful times. DH got laid off 11/4 and we are still unsure whether or not the company will have to pay unemployment. They may be exempt, as they are exempt to paying overtime. Still waiting to hear after 8 weeks. Then, our GS had to go back to living with his mom. That ripped our hearts out. On the up side, he was with us for about 2 hours on Christmas day. We wanted him to spend the night but she wouldn't let him. Right now she would still have a hard time getting him to leave if he stayed very long.

Doesn't it seem that sometimes the bad news is so overwhelming the good that you are afraid to answer a phone? It just hurts so much to care..... I hope that things turn around for you soon, Kathy, your friend as well, I can just imagine how much she hurts and needs a friend right now.

Thanks all. My friend hasn't found how to stop the sale yet. I am doing better about losing my horse buddy.
Moonie, I was shocked about your grandson. Keep trying. That boy will remember you tried your best.

Well my friend called her congressman and got in on some kind of new program that made Wells Fargo let her reapply to finance her house. The sale has been stopped!! I am so happy for her..

Kathy, I hope the pain lessens soon from the loss of your big guy=friend, and you can soon smile at your memories of him.
That is good news about your friend. I sure hope things work out for them.
