You Know Youre Addicted to Gardening When(Supplemented version)
Comments (15)Way too funny! I found many, many things that apply to me lol! I especially like the one where you are driving down the road and almost crash into a tree because you are trying to see other peoples gardens! lolololol! That definitely describes me! I almost back ended someone while trying to turn my head 360 degrees to see someones garden! lol You know you are addicted to gardening when you sit outside at work during a break and think about what else needs to be done in the garden that day and week. And, yes my bathroom has lots of reading material of the gardening type! My hubby thinks I'm nuts!...See MoreDoes your interior style reflect your garden style?
Comments (13)My interior used to be 'casual farmhouse' style, but since the 2 yo grandson came to stay, it might best be described as 'baby clutter'. It's slowly evolving to 'toddler clutter' which I'm sure will eventually descend into 'little boy camp style' followed by 'teenager'. Just as when my own children were still at home, my life revolves around the child in the house and that childs needs, this little guy is the cream in my coffee. The garden style used to be 'tidy farmhouse cottage' but in the past 9 months it has become 'benign neglect.' It still has many beautiful flowers and good structure as a result of 10 years of hard work and careful tending to beds and walkways. But the walkways are still full of last years leaves, the spring bulbs are pushing up through last years dead foliage and ground covers are leaping over edgings and scampering across pathways with joyful abandon. DH and I do very well sharing responsibilities in caring for the little darling-and he is definitely a high-maintenance little dude. I think he could disassemble the lawn mower or climb up onto the roof if we didn't watch him every minute. But that extra duty has cut all of our outdoor time in half. The one sanctuary that I have is my little greenhouse. It's 10'x12' of quiet solitude for me and I actually get to go out there about 4-5 times a week. I can only go out there after DH gets home cause if I take the little darling he wants to swim in the galvanized tub that's currently full of slime and goldfish. The fish will be going back out to their pond this weekend and I will be able to use the slimey water to nourish my plants. then I'll just have to find a tall and strong enough barrier to keep the LD out of the pond. When my three daughters were small I could tell them one time to not do something and they wouldn't do it. Not this guy, telling him not to do something is all the inspiration he needs to set his mind to do it. But hey, he's two, he's a handful, he's delightful and wonderful. I wouldn't want him any other way. Cheryl...See Morewhat is most prized possession??
Comments (47)Gee I wish Hostanista were here to tell you about this. She makes the birds and bees interesting again. I'd say that a sport is a rogue eye growing on the same crown as the rest of the plant. but with a different leaf color/design/size/character/whatever. It is surgically (cut out with a knife) removed and becomes a different and new plant, with only ONE parent. It is an interesting thing when hosta mutate like that. They gave the name of "sport" to the process and to the new plant. And Michelle, you have some new prized possessions there. They are small for sure, but you got them in time for the root systems to grow sturdy before first frost. They look great to me. If the eyes are healthy, then you have a GOOD bargain with the mystery box. As persistent as you've been with hosta even after losing some and such an extreme zone .....you are a hooked hosta fan! Thing is, they are worth it, don't you agree? You have the extreme cold zone, mine is the extreme hot/humid zone. So we are the far ends of the hosta universe. Pioneering takes determined people, and I think you are not giving up. What you learn will be helpful to others who might not be as observant or as persistent. So don't hesitate to ask questions and to share your experience with what works and what doesn't work. Comments (19)Awwww! Thank you all so much, I'm glad you all like it too. Karen, I'd be honored if you put in in an inspiration album. It would make my day. He did just sort of design it in his head as he went along. The sleigh itself screws on to the part with the runners, when it's taken apart, it will fit through the opening to the attic crawl space, which is where it spends the rest of the year. - Gail...See More- last month
