What's for dinner Friday?

Hope you're answer is better than mine because I have no idea. We are going to run out and pick something up, but heaven only knows what! Let you know later.

What are you having tonight?

Just slightly better because I'm not running out to pick something up. LOL Whatever you feel like eating. There's some leftover carrots, peas, twice baked potatoes and beef. Onion soup, too. When I cook I always cook too much but I've been sleeping on and off all day so I'm glad there's leftovers. DH is on his own tonight. He knows how to use the microwave. I'm looking forward to tomorrow. I hope to get out for a walk and back into my daily routine.

Been hitting the bourbon sauce and pound cake, so I'm sugar loaded, arghhhhh!

Hartleys for hamburger steak, grilled onions and green beans.

Finally having Christmas tomorrow. The gang is coming at 12:30.

Sue, glad you were able to get out and about. I see Indpls. weather in our newspaper. Like to look since DB lives in Greensburg. We only got up to 49 today--or so the paper said. Just heard we should have 70 on Monday, though. Glenda--haha! Hope you enjoyed that tamale. I had a pork tamale a couple of years ago at a little bakery that sells other things on the side. It was homemade and pretty good. Raven, happy birthday to your DH and have a wonderful dinner. I think yours sounds delicious! Shirley, isn't it fun to read restaurant menus? Sure is hard to make up one's mind sometimes! Especially if I'm hungry!! You must be having meatless Friday tonight. We used to do Monday's. (But not every Monday.) Rhizo, I will be right there! Oh, I do love sausage gravy. Now I'll be dreaming about it!! Jasdip, a turkey breast really goes a long way, doesn't it? Okay by me, I love it. Nice dinner--does your cabbage soup have a lot of different veggies in it? Mine does. I use the recipe from the cabbage soup diet. Very yummy!

Oh, Patti, and here I was complaining about my overly busy day and how tired I was............and mine was nothing like yours. Rest well. Glenda, they opened a deli in my small town. I guess it's been there for a while, but I'd not heard of it. My 4 sisters and I went there today. They got chicken salad on a croissant, but I got a roast beef. You got a choice of potato salad or soup, and your choice of coffee, tea or pop. The sandwiches were all huge and none of us could eat more than half. I lucked out. I not only brought home my half sandwich but one of my sisters as well. So my evening meal was free. Shirley

Glenda, nice way for a restaurant to lose customers, huh? You aren't doing so good this week--that's two days in a row for bad dinners. At least yesterday, you got dinner! Seagrass, your meals are likely more tasty than restaurant meals anyway. But it is nice not to have to cook all the time. Sue, sure hope you feel better. I bought some Alka-Seltzer Plus cold med. in case I feel a cold coming on. It works well for me. Chicken soup always helps, too. Jasdip, I was able to eat three saltines with ham salad on top! Woohoo!! Also ate a mug of noodle soup. Of course, I'd rather have your taco salad :-( Isn't it nice to see the sun shining? Mary, I bet 38 did feel like a heat wave after that 19 you had the other morning. I'm waiting until next week to clean. The house stays pretty clean since I'm not cooking. Shirley, I need to make some beef barley soup. It sounds delicious. Glad you had sunshine--it feels so good in the winter. (Guess it isn't winter yet, though.) Jean, you're doing really well with your low-carb meals. You're a saint to fix your DH mashed potatoes when you can't eat them!! Aw Hellion, I'm waitin' for the day I can eat bacon. I think I'll just fry up a whole pound and have at it :-) Georgysmom, I forgot you were in Florida with your GF's. Sure wish you had better weather, but I just know you're having a great time anyway. I'll say a prayer to the weather gods for nice, sunny, warm days the rest of the week.

I'm so glad you were able to eat a bit of food Patti! That's a great sight to see. We ate really late. I decided I wanted to have a pork picnic shoulder that was on sale for dinner. Boiled with potatoes. So we went to the store to get it and I boiled it for about 3 hours. Some potatoes went in the pot and some carrots later on. We just love ham that way. This is the second time I've done it, the first was with green beans. Hubby and I couldn't get enough tonite! :) I've got all this wonderful ham stock and we don't like a ham and pea type soup. But I'm planning to make cabbage soup tomorrow and I'm definitely going to be using some of the stock in that. I think it will taste great. Also I can see it as a base for potato soup for some yummy flavour. So I'd better be freezing the stock.

I haven't felt much like cooking all week, and tonite is no exception!

Just polished off a frozen pizza! Delissio 2-pack for $5.97
We only ate 1 of them!! LOL

We got a couple inches if wet heavy snow today. I put on the slo-cooker full of veg-beef-barley soup. I baked up a tube of flaky biscuits and made some honey butter. It was so yummy and satisfying.

Dotmom, you get the cooking prize of the day! Hope your snow all melts away before the holiday travelers take to the road.

I'm so glad I'm not the only burned out cook. I hope we all feel better after we get some rest. As for me, I'm about ready to go to bed even though it is only about 8:30. Harry has basketball on the TV and those announcers are about to knock me out with their monotone voices.

Hmm, it's nice to know others don't feel like cooking right now either. I did cook beef-veg soup for dd tonight since she's going back to Denver tomorrow morning, but it was an effort. Don't feel like doing much of anything!

Hubby went to his cousin's for guys poker night so I was going to make an egg...but a friend stopped in with Chinese take out! Yum! What's better than a friend, a fire in the fireplace and 3 kittens for entertainment?

I had two large chicken breasts thawed out in the fridge that I had to use up, so I cut them into 1/4" thick strips and whipped up a Tempura batter & deep fried them like chicken fingers...

I then put out small bowls of "Chinese Duck Sauce", "Sweet & Sour Sauce", and I mixed up a batch of "Honey Mustard Sauce" to dip the chicken fingers...

Jan made a batch of chicken Rice-a-roni for a side dish.

Wasn't fancy, but it was good and I had plenty of leftovers for the midnight fairies that raid our kitchen.

I had leftover Korean soup from our late lunch yesterday. Tonight, we're having pork curry.
