Another cancer person--would like prayers

My DD was just diagnosed with breast cancer. One lump about the size of a marble. She will be having surgery very soon. She has 2 DD both married and 3 grand kids (my GGK. Is positive about the surgery etc. I hope it is contained She is 53 and works at the base.

My mom got her test results and it is cancer! She was able to see her surgeon yesterday. I went to the breast cancer.org website (thank you cloud swift)and was able to come up with some questions for her to ask the surgeon. Is this a new cancer or a reocurrance of the previous, it is new and is it invasive or non-invasive, it is invasive. I was able to convince her to see an oncologist. One was recommended to her by a good friend but he is on vacation until next week, as well as her gynocologist. This is all so overwhelming I'm afraid for all of us. I am going to try and get as much info for her as posible and I am trying to get away to be there with her when she sees the oncologists. At this point I feel like I need a crash course in BC. What questions should she be asking? She is 84 years old. She is very independant. She lives alone. My sister is in Pittsburg about 6 hours away and unable to be there for health reasons. I'm in NC 8-1/2 hours away. We both have asked my mom to move to be closer to one of us, but she wants to be close to her church and friends. I feel sooo guilty for being so far away! Thanks. There are literally no other words I can say to express how I deeply your support has helped me. The other day my friend's 12yr dd asked me if I was cured. I had to pause a while because that has actually been on my mind a lot. I asked my dh when I am considered a survivor. He said after 5yrs. But once I stop taking the 5yr meds things could come back. So I very kindly explained to the girl that there is no way to really know. I will be watched closely and hopefully it is gone and never comes back. She simply said, "Oh." So I guess the best way to look at all this is that I am surviving every single day, one day at a time. I truly wonder, sorry to say but I think honesty is important amoung friends, that one day I will wake up with another lump and die the next day. It is not a fear that ruins my daily life, but it is a deep down heartfelt wondering that I think will just linger within me. I know many of you here have been in my same shoes and will assure me that life goes on. I know it does. Returning to work after 9months off is going to feel weird. Like I picked up where I left off. Kinda like I took a really long lunch break and now I am back to finish the days work. Like they say, life goes on. And so shall all of us. Again, thanks.

Thank you for telling me what I know should have happened long ago. My sister and brother-in-law are both lawyers.We haven't wanted to upset Diane right now because of her health.But, we are going to ask Bob to help us get him out of here.Like I said, I don't want them to take them, I just want to know how to get him out.When Ken was in the hospital back in March because of taking to many pain pills, I asked the nurse case worker how I could get him out. She told me that because he was a relative and that I had let him move in, the only way to get him out was to take him to court. That doesn't seem right, and because of mine and Jim's health issues, I didn't go further.You asked me if he had mental or physical issues that would make him encapable to take care of himself. He somehow graduated from HS, has held jobs, only ones that Jim or my Dad got for him, and is not so much in pain from his back that he can't work. Sears let him go because he told them that he could only come back to work if he could work for two hours and be able to sit for 20 minutes when he needed to. The disability that he is getting is from insurance that he is payin #179. a month. It is not Government disability.As far as mental, he is really a filthy person.He doesn't shower, my children came over and tore up the carpet in his room, and painted his room purple, what he wanted. And his room is filthy already.I put his microwave and toaster oven on the porch because it is filthy and I don't want it in my house.Shortly after he moved in,I found bugs in the house so made him pay for an exterminator. He pays that every month.Sorry for venting, but that is about all I have done since he has been making our life even more miserable lately. He told me he is perfectly happy here, isn't leaving, and I can't make him leave. New Years resolution. He will leave here. We have looked into HUD houses, but they do inspections and you have to keep the place clean. So, if he doesn't and once he is out, he is not coming back. My Jim use to be a locksmith and this will be one happy job for him Thanks again, for listening.

My thoughts and prayers are with your DD at this time and she may feel that it is insurmountable at present, but as Kath said, it is doable and trying to keep a positive attitude surely does help. I have not long finished treatment for BC diagnosed in February, so I know how she will be feeling. The love and support from family and friends is just so very important, too. I wish her all the very best.

Sending prayers your way. I was once there myself.. No matter when you hear the "C" word it is scarey.. They have come a long way and that is a blessing.. Keep us posted.

As a two time survivor of breast cancer I can certainly relate and prayers are being said for her and all of her family. I know she will receive a lot of support from her immediate family and her KT family.

My mother was a fifty-year survivor of her breast cancer, and my DD is nearing her tenth year of recovery. Positive and healing thoughts going out to your daughter, Marie.
