So Far Today.

I have the beans baked, the veggie pizza made, the brownies baked, the stuff for the relish plate ready, and the sugar syrup made for the punch. I also boiled and peeled 10 eggs for deviled eggs. I had no problem peeling them. I made the spinach dip yesterday. So now, all I think I am doing down here in this hot kitchen is empty the dishwasher and fill it and start it up. How is your day going for you?

I met Dorothy and Lisa for breakfast. We sat at the cafÃ© for 2 hours eating, drinking coffee and visiting.
I am going to the store in a little while to get the ingredients for Laura's fudge and the stuffed jalapeÃ±os.

Pansies Johnny Jump up and Showy Primrose are all green. I'm going to _try_ to get the camera this weekend for pics. (Give me the camera mom!) Lo and behold! I have Sea Holly sprouts! My first perennials! Hooray! My unknowns are sprouting like crazy. A container of what was supposed to be purple coneflower is sprouting with I don't know what. I'll try to get that picture for you guys to ID. Also, Scabiosa Atropurpurea Chives, Bunching Onion, Turnips, and Beets are all up. Poppies and Bachelor's buttons will be going out very soon if the ground refuses to freeze for a little bit.

Yesterday I played 18 holes of golf and then had lunch with the ladies I played with. Returned some shorts I bought for DH. Then returned books to the library. Played duplicate bridge in the evening (partner and I came in 2nd) Then came home and watched DWTS which was taped.

Heavy rain yesterday, water lying in puddles in various places. Some veggies coming up in garden, replanted some a couple of days ago that hadn't. Fed cat, (female canine) ... self. Listened to weekly evaluation of political situation on national radio, visited library. Was trying to double-side print a magazine some of whose issues I'd missed, but goofed yesterday in forgetting to request double-sided print ... so used a page that I didn't want to check whether printer prints on top side or underside, and which direction ... ... then printed some of the one-side only pages from yesterday with the other side. Then got a trojan horse, spyware etc. just after I came on here (was looking at the mayonnaise jar "would you use it?" problem, and think that I'd left it). Have some dishes needing doing at home ... and kitchen floor needs attention ... plus some straightening. Also, as gardening activity has begun ... there are some jeans and work pants that still have holes ... that were to have been patched over-winter ... but didn't seem to get done. Could there be something of a lazy streak showing, do you figure? ole joyful P.S. To help with communion at church tomorrow ... and should pick some weeds to take for greens. Then in the afternoon, there's to be a garden gathering with the Red Cross, to hear one of their people who has visited various countries where they help and I've been invited. One city library open on Sunday aft. Oct.-May ... but now on summer vacation. o j

Less than impressive. I was crying the blues last week because little black bugs got into a number of the turnips, that were growing well - I guess they thought so, too. Then quite a few of the tomatoes, which had been growing well, developed black leaves and stems, some of them on most of the plant, and where I hadn't been able to see the ground in part of the plot, and was preparing the staking for it, it got to where I could see the ground in a number of areas, and where they were thick, there were a number of stems and branches that were lying on the ground, some wet and rotting ... and some dry. I got up earlier than usual this morning, but instead of going out in the cool time, did a few things in the house and when I went out and began untangling some baler twine, it was so hot that I went inside of the shed where it was cooler. I need to add some strings to the pea vines and when I went to the south garden to do it there, found that the brace line from one of the end stakes had broken, so two at one end had fallen, letting all of the strings fall on both rows, with pea vines lying everywhere. I knew that I'd need to weed, so had taken the cultivator and did a lot of cultivating and pulling weeds from the peas, kohlrabi, peppers and watermelon. There's a huge amount of weeds yet needing to be pulled. I'll take the axe and chair down there soon to reposition the end stakes on the two rows of pea vines, then reposition the vines. I find that the edible pod vines grow much larger than the regular pea vines. Pea vines, one row and two rows of bean vines in the original garden need some more lines added, as well, and then there's more staking of the tomatoes, and cleaning out the crud from them ... a famous gardener told me on a radio phone-in on Monday to stake them, as they needed to have air circulate to stop the moulding. And, how does one remove the stuff that's contaminated without dropping spores off of them ... and avoiding touching the good parts of the plants with one's contaminated hands?? There are peas that need to be picked, and a bunch of beans, plus some lettuce and zucchini. Need to wash dishes, do a laundry and vacuum, as well. Plus - my right knee is showing out of my overalls, and I have some denim to patch it. Sometime when I can find some time. Also ... I need to sew some hook-and-loop fastener tape to some elastic so that I can make a retaining belt for my underwear briefs, several of which are so old that, the elastic having lost its zip, like to hang down around my knees: not very useful, when it's located like that! Need to get some milk, too. And some investment records that I keep are behind, as well. Oh, yes - I need to write a cheque for the Income Taxc people, as well ... they compound daily on amounts owing that are unpaid. I asked my furnace oil dealer the other day, who charge interest rate of 1.5 - 2.0% per month on unpaid balances after about 60 days, what rate they pay on credit balances, as they've held a credit in my account for several months. As it turns out that they pay zero per cent ... so I had them cut me a cheque and I need to deposit that. That should keep me busy for a while. ole joyful

Man, you must've gotten up at the crack of dawn!! Not quite that ambitious here. We decided to nosh tonight so I have huge sausage-stuffed mushrooms and bacon-wrapped water chestnuts ready to go in the oven later. We're also having shrimp with cocktail sauce and Brie with grapes and pear and apple slices. I'm going to make cinnamon apples a little later for tomorrows dinner and soak my black-eyed peas. The Bailey's is chillin' in the frig.

Got up around 6 read KT and others went back to bed got ups at 7:30 same thing
DS called at 11 got up and dressed and reading KT wondering where I want to go today Maybe Hobby Lobby all Christmas is 66% off today

I made a pot of chicken noodle soup for my son to come get and take home. I have a spinach meatloaf ready to go into the oven later. Did some calendar updating, talked some to a couple of sisters by phone. Other than that, I've just been lazy.

Mixture of rain, snow, freezing rain off and on here and is to continue tonight. The rest of the week it's supposed to be very cold. I'm not looking forward to that type of ending of 2009 and beginning of 2010!!

Happy New Year to all. I have not done too much today. Took care of sick baby twins for son while he came over and shoveled our drive way. Hubby got hurt ice fishing...go figure. Twins are sick with bad colds and are cutting molars besides. Poor babies. We are not doing anything tonight except the same old same old...watching tv and then to bed by 10 or so.

We went to both Sam's Club and Costco this morning so got the big shopping out of the way. Met a friend who cleaned her mother's freezer of old freezer-burned meat, she gave us a box-ful knowing we cook that up for the dogs.

Then the regular grocery store for 'just a couple of things' which ended up costing $50.

DS's new phone came in, so he's been playing around with that. He also re-wired three outlets for us so they're up to code (they were originally installed 25 years ago). He's leaving shortly for the weekend.

Made some dip to munch on tonight and NEED to get up and do some laundry and dishes. Oh, and my black-eyed peas are soaking and the ham is chopped, ready to put in the slow cooker this evening.

Maybe a nap is in order?

made 6 week muffin mix and baked a batch

next load of laundry
nother round of puter check
posted the picture with my sisters
stripped a bed and another load of laundry
sure goes faster with the dryer, compared to clothes line, but I will miss the smell
ate lunch
cleaned up some in prep for the bike club new years party tomorrow
cut the front of all the Christmas cards off, in prep of mailing them to St.Judes
put the pictures from the pile of 2007 in a large frame and just now hung it up
back here, at the puter for another round of checks, :)
back to cleaning for the party

Nothing going on here. No cooking, no company, nothing.

Pulled a muscle in my groin area and using a walking cane to relieve the pain when walking. arghhhhh

Got up late,9:30 ish.Had breakfast,sat at the table for over an hour after breakfast,looking at all the weeks ads and junk mail.Washed up my dishes,shook out kitchen rugs,and swept up the kitchen.Came in here to check the emails and here i still am.Not doing anything tonight as usual,dh will be in bed by 7:00,and i'll be up til after one as i always watch tru tv.I sometimes have to make myself go to bed between 1 and 1:30.

No worry though we are older,70's and retired,so we do what ever we want when ever we want.It's wonderful!!

So ashamed. Done nothing but play on the computer. Oh yes, I did put some leftovers out for the 9 crows that I feed, and enjoyed watching them eat as I sat at the computer looking out the window. They come several times a day to see if there is anything. I am probably the only person who asks for a "crow bag" instead of a "doggie bag" when I go out to eat. Maybe they think I am the old crow who is going to eat it.

Got up and fed the dog and the birds.Had some coffee,dressed an brushed my teeth. Went for radiation,came home.Did two tubs of clothes,stuffed turkey,cooked turkey.Sharked my floors.Folded and hung up clean clothes.Cleaned up kitchen.DH went to the grocery store and brought us home some lunch.He went to work at 3.He will be home by 10:30 and we will watch the late news and see if Fox is going to let us watch the Gator game tomorrow night,and try to stay up and watch the Orange fall in downtown Orlando. Happy New Year to all.

I worked this morning, just until noon. Then DH & I went out shopping for a bit. I came home peeled veggies and got the roast out. Now it's in the oven for 2 hours. Plan to just relax after dinner and maybe watch a movie or two.

Got up, went to cafe--breakfast, home, 3 hour later cafe--lunch--then had to go to Minot to pick up fixed new leather coat for DH, quick trip to KMart, got gasoline, then home for a couple of hours the to cafe/bar for neighborhood and any one else NY eve, dinner (supper) choice of steaks/lobster/prime rib/shrimp and all the fixings. No cooking for me.

Got up, had coffee, checked my Cap email, had 4 or 5 things to do for him. Got the research done, printed and faxed, checked his flights for Sunday still couldn't get him in first so called the airline desk. Mailed the magazines that I ordered for our motion picture folks. Got an emergency phone call that an airline had cancelled flights for a family that were to come home tomorrow. Got them on a flight....got another call that a client was stranded in Providence....still working on him.

So Far Today.
