I got up about 5:30, fed the cats and made coffee.

Decided to have baked ziti for dinner, and didn't have enough pasta sauce. So I made some.

Have my dough rising for bread now. So far so good.

Crappy weather again, windy and rainy. What are you guys all up to today?

Crappy weather = good bread baking day. I haven't baked in awhile now. My Beloved is trying to give up carbs for awhile so I had to back off of the bread....Maybe I'll make some today..

Busy unpacking and cleaning the Motor Home after our trip to Ohio.

Well you've been a busy girl! I love pasta :)

Today marks 14 days and counting until my son's wedding, so now it's crunch time trying to tie up loose ends. Going for my final dress fitting, fingers crossed all is well there. It's been exactly one year since my other son's wedding, so my life has been nothing but wedding talk for the past couple of years.

Wow, you've been busy this morning! I worked yesterday, till 8pm and then stupidly stayed up half the night reading on-line, e-mails, here and another website I go to. Woke up the first time at 6:20 to get the kids up for school, went back to sleep after they got on their buses. Didn't get up again till almost 11:30. I feel like a slug. Last week when I was off I had to get up and stay up because of my car problems and I felt so much better, even with less sleep. I'm eating my breakfast now, doing a load of laundry and will do my workout before showering and going to the store for a few things and gassing my car up. It's going to be a busy week. Lauren's having a big birthday party in a couple weeks so I have to start doing a bunch of cleaning, especially the carpets and the sunroom, where they all plan to hang out. I work two more days this week, Friday have a doctor's appointment and then Alex has another ACT test on Saturday. At least I won't be laying around sleeping most of the rest of the week. I think I'm going to do all the carpets today, it's supposed to be fairly warm today.

I got up around 8am today and started the first of two loads of laundry, plus washed DD's competiton gym leotard separately. Then I started on her hair do for the meet today. Whew! That is an accomplishment! It's all about the hair, ya know. Did this tricky little spider-web thing that's become popular, then back in a ponytail, then the ponytail curled into spirals. Took about 15 tiny little clear elastics and a dozen little foam curlers, a handful of hair gel and a couple dozen squirts of hairspray. And over an hour of my time. ;o) That was extra special, usually I give it a really good ponytail, but very rarely go that extreme. I was feeling generous, and she asked so nicely. ;o) Here's the idea. This was taken tonight, after the meet, after 1000 tugs on the ponytail and lots of tumbling loosened the curls (and it doesn't hold curls very well, either). Honest, it was tight curls. Next time I'll remember to take the pic before the meet. While that set, and the laundry was drying, I cleaned out the van and went up for an oil change and the emmissions test. Then back home, made lunch for the family, showered and changed myself. Then we drove an hour to the gymnastics meet. Did that, had dinner, got back around 9pm DD accomplished some good scores! She had a great meet and finishsed first place all around in her age group and session. That is a first for her, so it was very exciting. She has been struggling with bars for a couple months, but today also finished first on bars, another first. And she's going to leave her hair like that for a couple days. ;o) Took me too long to take it back out already. I am not skilled with it, I have to compensate by taking my time and concentrating. I even tell her not to talk to me while I'm working on it, which is *really* hard for her. LOL! BTW, DD is 9. Now I'm going to crawl into bed with a book. Tomorrow is another day, and I have other tasks that have been waiting all week. Like getting caught up on my online class.

Good morning! It's 77 degrees here, and it feels very nice. Today I decided to send a vase to my brother in Victoria, B.C. It was our mother's, and it belongs to him now, but it was expensive to ship so he asked me to hold it for him. My dad gave it to him last summer when he was visiting. Anyway, I decided to send it to him, and had to go to two courier shops to get this done. Expensive, but he will be happy. I also did the dishwasher, and some laundry and will do some ironing soon. DH and I are either going for lunch or for dinner, and we have a short meeting to go to tonight. I will also probably go for a walk, and do some weeding. Nothing special, but I like having a day off to putter like this.

stockergal, I am so sorry. I'll be thinking of you and praying for peace for you and your family. When my father was in hospice care, it was probably the hardest thing our family ever had been through, but there was a certain peace of mind that came from the fact that all of us were able to be with him those last few days. Being able to gather together and be with him near and at the end of his days on this earth was a privilege and a pleasure even though it also was painful and heartbreaking. As he quietly slipped away from us, there was a peace within himself that we all could feel. He had battled Alzheimer's for well over a decade and he was tired. He was ready to go. That doesn't mean it was easy for us to let him go, but we all had a chance in those last days to speak with him, to comfort him, to assure him that we'd be okay without him and that we'd take care of mom and each other. Those were words he needed to hear, and he seemed to relax after hearing them all. Considering the circumstances, it was a peaceful way to go. The hospice folks were truly wonderful and in those last couple of days, at the brief times when he was conscious, he seemed more like himself than he had in years. I cannot explain that except to say that he knew his soul was preparing to travel on to a better place, and he was at peace with that knowledge. It seemed like he recognized us, miraculously, after years of not knowing who we were, and that was the greatest gift of all. sandplum, Please accept my most profound sympathy. I can only imagine how difficult this summer has been for you and your family. May God comfort you and your family. I'll be praying for peace and comfort for you and your family as well. Alzheimer's Disease is so cruel. When we lost our dad, it wasn't that one day we had him and the next day he was gone---it was that Alzheimer's had gradually taken him from us, day after day, month after month, for many years. It was a long, slow good-bye. I know it is so hot to be outside, even in the early morning hours, but I always have found the garden is my favorite place to be during times of grief, and being in it soothes my soul. Gardening is good therapy for broken hearts and grieving souls. I hope being out in the yard and garden are soothing for you in the same way that it is for me. You're ahead of me on watering. I need to head outside and do that as soon as the sun comes up. I cannot go out while it is too dark on account of the snakes. Last week I was out very early and so was a skunk, so I'm not in too big of a hurry to head out---if I am going to encounter a varmint, it's got to be light enough that I can see it. Our soil moisture is down to nothing except in the areas where I'm watering. I keep an idea of my own soil moisture by sticking my finger down in the soil to see if I can feel any moisture. I also look at one of the Mesonet maps that shows soil moisture levels as the percentage of plant available water measured numerically. Well, plants endure moisture stress if the number on this map drops below 0.50, so I try to make sure I'm irrigating the garden when we drop below that level. Right now, for our county, the number is at a pathetic 0.03. I water deeply every few days, but there's not enough water in southern OK (or enough $$$ in our bank account) for me to be able to water enough. I feel like the water I'm pouring on the garden is just barely keeping the plants going right now. Every day I hope for rain, and then hibernate inside the air conditioned house and just try to stay cool. I even keep a box fan running in the largest chicken coop all day long. While the chickens prefer to be outdoors, when they get hot, they go into the coop and stand right in front of the fan. On the other hand, since no rain has fallen in a month, the grass isn't growing so we haven't had to mow the lawn in a couple of weeks now. At least there's that. Dawn

It is a very pretty day today but temps are already rising supposed to be in the 90's again. We have some errands and shopping to do at some point. Plus I have to plant some plants in some pretty new pots I got last weekend for the atrium.

I had a huge beautiful Monarch butterfly in my atrium yesterday all over my lemon tree. I have seen several or it is the same one that is very busy LOL

Heavy rain yesterday, water lying in puddles in various places.

Some veggies coming up in garden, replanted some a couple of days ago that hadn't.

Fed cat, (female canine) ... self.

Listened to weekly evaluation of political situation on national radio, visited library.

Was trying to double-side print a magazine some of whose issues I'd missed, but goofed yesterday in forgetting to request double-sided print ... so used a page that I didn't want to check whether printer prints on top side or underside, and which direction ...

... then printed some of the one-side only pages from yesterday with the other side.

Then got a trojan horse, spyware etc. just after I came on here (was looking at the mayonnaise jar "would you use it?" problem, and think that I'd left it).

Have some dishes needing doing at home ... and kitchen floor needs attention ... plus some straightening.

Also, as gardening activity has begun ... there are some jeans and work pants that still have holes ... that were to have been patched over-winter ... but didn't seem to get done.

Could there be something of a lazy streak showing, do you figure?

P.S. To help with communion at church tomorrow ... and should pick some weeds to take for greens.

Then in the afternoon, there's to be a garden gathering with the Red Cross, to hear one of their people who has visited various countries where they help and I've been invited.

One city library open on Sunday aft. Oct.-May ... but now on summer vacation.

Today I dropped off some dessert at my daughter's house, worked on a lap quilt and worked in the garden. I'm going to be spending more time in the sewing room tonight.

After a hectic day yesterday..getting flowers in the ground, lawn cut, because rain was predicted for today and the weather people were spot on. Went into work for a few hours as well.
Today I am tired.Absolutley had to go grocery shopping, kids coming for dinner tomorrow.Could not resist the Berry Sundae at Costco on the way out. No will power, but it is so delicious.
My oldest Bichon is on heart meds now so she needs to be taken out every couple of hours, so I work around that schedule. Got it all done and now I can relax.

My plans changed. I thought I would plant some plants in the garden and I did measure off my rows. Then Cheryl called and they invited us to go look at golf carts in their new truck. Off we went. Drove 20 miles one way and they didn't see anything they liked, drove about the same distance in another direction and they were closed. Then we stopped by Amber and Mike's and decided to bring Alyssa back home with us so they could get more yard work done. By that time they were hungry so I fixed mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, mac and cheese and yeast rolls. Kevin went into town and picked up a 16 piece bucket of chicken and that was our late lunch. Amber and Mike stopped in and then went back home. They had brought some brush over for the brush pile. Finally Cheryl and I got to take Alyssa on a big rig ride until she fell asleep. She is still sleeping and I have the dishwasher going. I want to bake something yet for tomorrow's church dinner. The weather has been mostly sunny and breezy. Right now it is 67. I hope everyone has had a great day.

Worked on closet and garage cleaning. Recycle bin is full, as is trash bin, so I declared it to be wine:30!
