I got my seeds December 13 but I was in a self-imposed exile from the boards at the time (mandated extra hours of work, and GardenWeb forum browsing is a real time-sponge for me :-]), so although I did email Sue that I received them, now that I am done with work I wanted to post my heartfelt thanks to all who checked my list and their stashes for matches, and particularly shimla, poisondartfrog, remy, etravia, flowergardenlady, linda0210, and kandituft who have reduced my wish list, and especially susiek who not only helped reduce my wish list but hosted this great swap and restored my faith in big swaps :-). Getting that package in the mail was a big mood-lifter! I have ramped up milk jug collecting (planning a trip to the recycling center to swipe some from there) and bought 200 pounds of soil from Wal-Mart. Thanks again to everybody. Stacie, sorry to hear about your DH's newly diagnosed Type 2 diabetes and his other GI issues. I am a nutritionist/registered dietitian and I work in an endocrine research clinic. It is indeed possible that his blood sugar can be in the 400's when undiagnosed, and his level will also be affected by infection and the stress of pain/illness. There are so many excellent oral diabetes meds these days. Lifestyle changes are the key (along with blood glucose monitoring at home and meds) to controlling diabetes. Your DH has a lot to live for and lots of motivation to make some changes. Even a 5-7% modest decrease in his body weight as he is overweight will make a big difference in improving his diabetes control. He does not need to give up sugar. He does need to start eating a much more healthy overall diet including veggies & fruits. One of the best resources for what people with diabetes should eat is the American Diabetes Association book "16 Myths of a Diabetic Diet" by Karen Chalmers. It's on Amazon.com for ~$12 plus shipping. I highly recommend this newly updated book. Your library may have it. Also, it would be good for him to attend somem diabetes management classes at a local hospital -- provided they are taught by a CDE (certified diabetes educator) who is up to date on the latest management/nutrition recommendations for people with diabetes. Now that the holidays are over I am continuing counseling. I am going to do some work on trying to repress memories and experiences. We have also made the decision to have Rhiannon go to counseling, with the family changes and brother stresses it is affecting her behavivor.I am not sure if there has been abuse but that will also be addressed. Since my brother is still drinking *Friday drunken fight* but now is no longer drinking. I don't feel that I can trust his decision making ability and take that chance with my kids or family. The sad thing is my family is blaming me for his drinking and bringing up all the issues, they would prefer to keep them dirty little secrets which isn't okay with me. So keep your thouhts on me and I will keep my knockers up:) Stacie
