Whats made you smile lately?

Stacy used to always post this question and I loved it!

I've been out of sorts lately, I dunno why typical pre Christmas blues?? I needed to snap out of the funk and

Yesterday opening my mail and looking at a very special Christmas card from a KT'er made me smile from ear to ear!!

Then I came here and saw Pixistix's lil Ruby pic and I smiled some more!

Whats made YOU smile lately??

...watching my kitten watching the birds outside. Her tail was just flicking back and forth, and she was so excited.

Laura..Everyone certainly has their gifts in plants and you are certainly no exception in the Desert Rose plants and with people!:-) You never cease to amaze me with not just your kindness, but you ability to grow many things that mant people can not, even with winter against you. Just wonderful and lovely! The one you gave me, the sis, she's still alive but bald at the moment!lol Beautiful looking plants and the roots, wow. Jojo, thanks so much! You know me. If it is not an unusual plant, I won't buy it. I have seen many Philodendrons. I think that Karen has a remarkable one too, Now, one like hers I would buy also! Look at you go with nw rootings. I hope they root well for you. The key is to keep changing out the water and to keep them warm. Hum, in Arizona, I see no problems..lol Good to see you again! Tropicbreeze, I hope to own one of them someday. I hear they are so nice in bloom:-) Tommy, I just found out the other day that there is such a thing as fragrant violets. Hummmm. Greybird, I hope they make it. I love that origonal C.C! Eahamel..That's wonderful! LauraR..How are the Gollum cuttings coming along? Do you use lots of light? Rina and Marg..You are just too nice, So nice to share. Rina, you know how I feel about the Black Princes plant? I always wanted one of those! Nice. Teengardner..I hope yours lal root just fine. Hope you have lots of room for them too:-) Gail..Nice. Mine are in the dark basement too. Doing good:-) Mike

Winter time - This time of year I don't know about making life better, but I do try to appreciate the little things that can make a day better, and say Thank You (maybe not out loud) The silly chickadee bringing a smile with it's antics in a shrub by my carport I would have missed if I hadn't chosen just that moment to take out the garbage- that baby in the back of a grocery cart who makes eye contact and gives a big grin for no reason other than wanting a smile back...all thank yous. Today, a bigger one. I've been arguing (negotiating) with the IRS since last May over what they said was a deficit in our 2003 taxes. Audit by mail, which meant countless phone calls, faxes, copies mailed, letters of explanation, and about every 6 weeks I'd get another bill where they were still unconvinced, penalties and interest accruing to about $4000 total. This morning, finally, a letter - "We are pleased to tell you we did not make any changes to the tax reported on your return." I almost feel like my honor has been restored, I'm not a deadbeat or a cheat. And for all my effort, I may just buy myself some extravagant little thing :)

Even if if Knit Picks Yarns aren't on sale they are still reasonably priced. I buy most of the yarn I knit with from Knit Picks. The only places around Lakeland to buy yarn are Walmart or JOAnn Fabric. I buy the Swish Superwash to knit things for my grandson because he gets dirty and Mama wants him to be clean so she will throw it in the laundry. I knit for her using the lace weights because I know she appreciates hand knitted items. The silk wool blend is soft and smooth and has shine thanks to the silk. Every on who saw it at the auction loved it .

It has been a later start than usual. It is about a 2 weeks difference than the other years. Unfortunately, the growing season doesn't extend. I catch up with you guys and it seems to end around the same time. But I will make a note and see for sure in the fall. Ken, I would do a happy dance ,but my neighbors already have asked me if they should call an ambulance when they see me laying down on the lawn taking pictures. Everyone around me is in their 80's or plus. I entertain them enough as it is. Saija, I love your crinkles! :)

I have a couple of the Hurricane Ike squirrels left that I havn't released. One was sick when he came in and very small and he has been slow to catch up, so I have held him back until he grows a little more. Another one had an injured tail, so I kept him back to be a companion to the little guy.

I put a bowl of food in their cage and the little guy was sitting in the middle of it, eating a walnut. The other squirrel was trying to push his tail out of the way. He looked like he was trying to fold it up. I guess you would have to have seen it. It was cute.

I spend Wed. mornings w/ my DGD#3's 3rd grade class helping w/ math. One little girl was really having trouble counting money and telling time. Today it was like a miracle--she did so well!! I was grinning from ear to ear and telling her how smart she was. I don't know who was happier--her or me!!! Big smiles there!! I told her teacher how well she'd done and she was smiling, too!

Yesterday I was having a giant size PityParty! Didn't feel good at all; the bad cold rainy weather makes the old body hurt really bad. Had appoint with the eye doctor. I don't like to drive in the rain, but I went on anyhow. Yes, of course, they dilated my eyes! Had to wait another 20 minutes. Still drove home with headlights glaring!

As I was eating my so-called dinner I was thinking about being old (and crotchety) and how old friends are dwindling away through death and inabilities, etc. Real bummer!

Couple hours later I got a call from and old friend who asked if I would be home today. She and two other old friends are coming for an afternoon visit.

That sure made me smile!!

Little Ruby made me smile, too.

The first and last smiles of each day are always provided by my sweet 15 yr. old cat, my Stash girl. I love her sooooo much. :)

My best friend Margaret's xmas letter made all of us smile. Every year she writes a story about an animal in her life and this year it was a little pink pig that ended up in her yard. She used to have a little farm and in years past we heard about different goats, mule, chickens (she had a roaster named Henry for 12 years)different dogs, etc. She's a wonderful writer and someday she'll be published If I have to figure out how to go about it!

With a 5-month old and a 5-year old there is no shortage of things to smile about in my house. The latest thing making me smile is watching Dan who is just starting to clap.

awwww, thanks Connie and Granlan; Ruby makes me smile every day ~ even if I don't see her in person, her cute little face greets me every morning on my desktop. Here's another smile for you, and she's playing peek-a-boo with you :)

Along with pictures of Ruby which are precious...I just got back from lunch with the 5 other gals that work in the office at Meals on Wheels...Just being able to be with these gals, talking, solving the problems of the world and just knowing how much we have to be thankful for, really made me smile....

Will Smith is on Oprah today. He *just* said something I've always said to my kids. "It's not your room. It's our room that we let you use while you're living in our home."

that made me smile.
