I think i turned into a teenager!

For the past 3 months my neck has been breaking out something awful. It will clear up but then it flares up again. Not my face, just my neck. I dont wear makeup on my neck and i have been wearing alot of turtle neck sweaters to hide it. Whats going on? I am 39 not 13!

When I get embarrassed or stressed I break out in hives on my neck and chest. Strange.

I can't wear wool near my neck. I can only wear 24K Gold necklace. I can't wear fur, at all.

Anything new? It could be dies in fabric.

Perimenopause causes the same weird things to happen to your skin as hormonal changes during puberty. You're not too young for "peri". The earliest signs can appear a decade or more before actual menopause. The turtlenecks can be aggravating the situation. Let the area get air and treat it just like teen acne. Wash with a cleanser containing salicylic acid and stay away from age creams and such.

Remove the gravel immediately. Make sure you're not overwatering. Flush the potting mix when appropriate to water again. Then fertilize lightly. Josh

Moc, I have a section in my vegetable garden that has close to two feet of sandy loam that I just trench out in the Fall and bury my pots about an inch below the surface. After a good hard freeze, I put almost a foot of leaves on top of them and ignore them until about mid-April. Of course, the pots are filthy when I remove them, but I have three weeks or so to get them cleaned up to spread around the in ground hostas. I think the key is to avoid the freeze - thaw cycle as much as possible. (So far, I did loose one in ground hosta - a Lucy Vitol, but it was on a decline and I took a start of it and that's coming up in its pot just fine.)

I don't think there's a better feeling than when you create something with your own hands and it turns out better than you imagined. It feels good to sit back and take it all in. I upgraded my setup yesterday. I added cross beams on the top and an additional shelf. I'm up to 3 lights now, and I doubt that will be enough. I have some peppers(under the towel) germinating on the bottom. Seedlings are under the lights, while cucumbers, tomatoes, and cantaloupes are on the top. Congrats on the successful DIY project. Hopefully your season will turn out just as good. Tim

Maybe the turtlenecks are causing it, or at least not helping it. Try some cortisone creme on it. Mine gets like that now and then too.

New hair care products, laundry soap, fabric softener or even hand cream could be causing it (you probably already thought of that). You also could have developed an allergy to something you didn't react to before.

...and not just your skin. I'm 50 and wish I'd bought stock in a tampon company... *sigh*

I had this happen on my neck and chest just a few months ago. I was quite distressed because I have never had breakouts on chest, ever.

I went to a dermatologist who prescribed a potassium-sparing diuretic (water pill). Can't recall the name right now but when I get home, I can get it if you want.

The doctor said often times breakouts below the jaw line are hormone related, more so than on the face. The water pills will help regulate my hormones. It worked in no time, the breakouts stopped altogether and I've even lost some weight I think due to the water pills.

Okay Ninos, I'll check the name of the water pills when I get home. Can't guarantee I will be able to post it though this weekend, we are having new flooring put in and my computer/office had to be torn down and moved. If I can get a cable line into another room, I'll log on.

Jodi- who will probably be out of her flippin mind by Monday if she doesn't have internet access over the weekend.

Ninos, just as I was getting ready to log off my work computer and head home I remembered I had the name of the water pill in my purse. It's called Spironolactone. Read reviews about it at the link below.
