I just read about the loss of your mother on the are you alone today thread. I am so sorry.

What a terrible way to spend Thanksgiving Day. I hope you have friends and family around for support.

I am thinking of you at this difficult time.

I just read this. I am so sorry. Thanksgiving was 1 week after my mom passed. I too hope you have friends and family around for support. My family was with me, and I was lucky enough to be rubbing her hair and talking to her when she passed.

Take care of yourself and remember the good times with your mom. (((((Jean))))

Thank you both so very much. My mom is finally whole again! She is in the arms of her Father and her parents and her sisters.

Here is something I wrote on Wednesday after I came home from being with her in the hospital:

My mom is dying.
When is the only question. I hope she goes quickly, if you can call the last 5 years or so quickly.
She is totally unresponsive. They say she may be able to hear us, but there's no way of knowing.
There is no drastic measures to be taken, no resussitation. She is on oxygen and that's about it.
She's had a heart attack, she most certainly has pneumonia, she has highly elevated white blood cells, and fluid around her heart. Her heart rate would fluctuate anywhere between 109 and 153. It's working extremely hard and is extremely large. She has congestive heart failure had has for a while now.
There are no miracles to be prayed for. Only peace.
My sister just called...my mom's kidneys and liver are shutting down. They will give her morphine to help her breath easier.
I suggested that when she takes her last breath, that we should all shout "Halleluia!" and celebrate for her, she will finally be home, in the loving arms of her mother, father and two of her sisters and her heavenly father she had such faith in.
It's horrible the selfish thoughts that splash through your brain at the moment you realize you're mom is dying. I say splash, because they are scattored thoughts, droplets here and there, nothing formed completely and nothing concrete, but splashing and sloshing all over. Half formed and quickly thought, to be wiped away with a backhanded swipe like a windshield wiper on a rainy day. Part of me wants to stop and examine those thoughts to try and figure out where they originate and why I would even think them. Another part wants to deny them completely. Another part forgives me for thinking them.
I'm not crying anymore.
Not for my mom.
I wish her a speedy journey.
I wish her peace.
I wish her painless days and nights.
I wish her freedom from the prison that was her unusable body for so many years.
I wish her joy and happiness that I know await her, because she believed it.
Most of all, I wish her grace.

Shaun, Jewell did not live in Clearwater. She lived in Plant City on Cason St with Mark and his friend Dwain Miller. She only had Mark and his sister. As far as her name, Jewell was not uncommon to me, I have an Aunt named Jewell. She lives in Valdosta Ga. I think a long time ago women who were named Jewel, got that name because the parents may have thought their newborn baby girl was a jewel to the family.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your dear mother and for all the suffering she experienced. Please don't fuss over the things you said to your mother--she loved you dearly and knew you loved her. Focus more on the good things and good times you remember about your mother because they are more important than things said on one day. You are grieving, and it is a long, slow process. Anger is a natural part of the grieving, so don't be surprised that you are angry about something or at someone. I strongly encourage to call your church or local hospital to ask about a grief counseling group. I know this will be difficult to do, but please, please give it a try. If you don't like it you don't have to go back. My mother has been gone 8 years now. I continue to miss her, but the pain is gentler now. Just sadness. Nearly everyone feels this way over time about our mothers. But know you will get through this, but this is the hard time. Let us know how you are doing.

I lost my Mom 4 years ago. I still cry a few times every month. Several years ago I asked her if she still thought about her Mother, My Grandma..she said "oh honey, I think about her everyday". I remember thinking how extraordinary that was. Now I get it. I have to share this poignant moment I had. I had returned home from my Mom's funeral in another state. My hubby and I took care of his mother, who was wheelchair bound. She had her sister and cousin over. I was sharing what it was like to lose my Mother. Aunt Wanda, who was 80 started crying. I felt so bad that I made this old woman cry. Then she said "I was crying, because I was remembering MY MOTHER crying at Christmas time, because she missed HER MOTHER". I said "Let me get this straight, you are crying over your mother who was crying over her mother"? LOL. Ya know how you laugh and cry at the same time? I never had a moment in life like that..We women stared at each other. The bond women share, mothers..love..life..it is so special. I now know how very important I am to MY DAUGHTER and only child. The memories I make with her will comfort her when I am gone. Still, I cry. She is expecting her first and most likely only child a boy. I am so sad my Mom didn't get to see him. But life goes on..and as bad as I miss Mom, a new grandchild is coming and a new chapter in my life. Do you honestly think your brother gets how you feel? NO..most guys don't. So honey, you just grieve for your Mom as long as you need to. It is a testimony to the love you had for her. It will subside..but the deep longing for her will not go away. At least mine hasn't. That is so neat that you got to speak to this lady! How kind of her to speak so kindly of your son and to let you know that Bagel is still alive. I hope that you get to see pictures of him now. Maybe she'll send you some. Also, it would be nice to be able to see her son whom she lost who probably loved Bagel. I'm so sorry that she is another member of our club that no one wants to be in. jeaninwa, what you wrote was just beautiful! I am sitting here with tears streaming down my face. What a great and unselfish way of looking at your mom's passing. My mom passed over three years this coming January and I still break down almost every day. We were so close and so much alike. I don't want to hijack your thread with my story, so I will just close saying thanks for posting that heartfelt letter to your mom.

My heart is breaking for you. It's been just over a month since my sisters, my dad and I stood at MY mom's bedside and watched her die in a situation that is eerily similar to what you describe with YOUR mom.

Knowing that our loved ones are celebrating with those who've gone before doesn't make us miss them any less, does it? I'm so sorry for your loss...

Having just lost my mother, I can totally feel for her. Thanksgiving is hard for me anyway, with no family around. I purposely went on a fast this year right before so I didn't have to participate. T'day without my mom would be unbearable.
