My all time favorite Christmas song is "O Holy Night" and Martina McBride's version makes me cry!!! I could literally put it on repeat and sing the day away!

My favorite silly song is "I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" I don't know who sings it-sounds like a kid, but it just makes me giggle! You don't hear it too often-usually once or twice during the season.

I agree Josh Groban is wonderful!

Oh yeah! "O Holy Night" by a choir, too. I just love it.

Bet I'm going to remember something about everyone's answer. LOL

I really prefer an orchestra or just instrumentals playing the classics. Just the music.

"What Child is This?" Both bring back memories of performing those on my flute every year through high school.

I love Christmas music. My favorite cd is Elvis'...and I listen to it alot from Thanksgiving until Christmas every year....makes DH crazy! He is so sick of it! LOL.....this year I have some country Christmas tunes....he's going crazy! He's never been to fond of Christmas music, but he does love Christmas!

I have so many favourites! I think my favourite CD is Vanessa Williams' "Star Bright" althought I love Kenny G's "Faith" and "Miracles". Then there's the old standbys "Once Upon a Christmas" by Kenny & Dolly and "The 20 Greatest Christmas Songs" by Boney M, those 2 remind me of being a teenager. I have favourite individual songs, too, like "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree", "White Christmas" and "The Christmas Song". There are a ton more I like, too, it would take ages to write them all down.

My favorite of all-time is "Mary did you know?" I have a Christmas cd with Reba McEntire singing that and it makes me get teary every time I hear it.

My favorite fun Christmas song is "There's something stuck up in the chimney", I love that! I used to have a Twisted Christmas tape with funny songs like that but don't have a tape player anymore.

"Oh Holy Night"...last year I made a cd for my mom with about 20 different people's versions on it, because it's her favorite song too.

i just picked up Diana Kralls christmas CD and Michael Buble also, LOVE both of those. christmas music is about the only CDs i buy LOL, everything else we find online. my xm has had christmas music for a couple weeks now :-) nat king cole, tony bennett, bing crosby are amoung my classic favs from childhood ~ liz

I have Clay Aiken's Christmas album that he put out a couple of yrs. ago. I agree with junkyard girl & love the song "Mary Did You Know". He does such an awesome job, but then he could sing the phone book & it would sound wonderful. Just love his voice.

I love my vince gill christmas cd.

I enjoy the beautiful instrumentals than the novelty songs. Our PBS channel had the Celtic Woman program, and their signing is heavenly.

Last year I discovered Transiberian Orchestra. It's a little "edgy" for me, but I enjoy it as a change. Remember, it is the music that went with the home decorated and the lights changed with the music? On You Tube or some site like that.

What's the name of the song that was sung by that guy on He-Haw?? I don't seem to know the name of the song or the artist! He sings about preparing his home for the arrival of Jesus and he has three needy visitors, but they're all sad, pitiful folks and at the end of the evening, he asks Jesus why he never showed up. Jesus replies, he *did* show up - appearing as those three Christmas guests.

Rose, the name of the guy on Hee Haw was Grandpa Jones. The name of the song is "The Christmas Guest". It was mostly in recitation form. Grandpa died several years ago.

I'll Be Home For Christmas--it doesn't matter who sings it--tears me up every time I hear it. I want to be at that place in the song but it can never be again.

I had a tape called Ace Cannon's Christmas or something like that. It had several beautiful Christmas songs done with his saxaphone. I played it every year for a long time. One year I took it to work for our Christmas party and it disappeared. I have searched high and low for another one. I went to his web sight a couple of years ago and there were a couple with some Christmas songs on them, but not the same one I lost. My mother plays music at some local clubs and local gatherings. One night Ace Cannon was there playing too. Mom called me and I went to where they were. I was able to talk to Ace Cannon, but he said he had nothing to do with his marketing and inventory and said to try his web sight. I told him I already did, but with no luck. He seemed genuinely sorry, but could offer no help. I haven't tried this year to find it, but I may try again. It would be so nice to find it.

I always thought Elvis singing "Blue Christmas" was the greatest Christmas song until I heard Josh Groben on tv last week singing "Silent Night." He was absolutely amazing.

"I'll Be Home for Christmas" always makes me sad cause there were times I wasn't able to be home, and times when my children weren't.

Teresava...we hear the "Hippopotamus" song every day or so here! (DC area) We have 3 stations playing all Christmas music plus DH's XM radio & DirecTV...usually Holly, but today I switched to "Holiday Traditions" and I like it better! So far no songs that you scratch your head asking "now why is THIS song a Christmas song?"

I especially like:

I've always liked instrumentals, especially the Winter Solstice series from Windham Hill. Artists include Will Ackerman (guitar), George Winston (piano), Nightnoise (instrumental/vocal), and so many others in the collection of CDs. Soooo relaxing when the season can be so hectic.
