Reboot your computer?

Click on View, then on Toolbars. Then when you get the popout menu of toolbar choices, click on Standard Buttons.

I lost my back button some time ago, when my Windows automatically updated to IE7. I was able to do a system restore and get it back. I then blocked automatic Windows updates.

Jannie, you shouldn't necessarily block automatic Windows updates, because many of them are critical security updates. You can set it so that it will automatically download them, but then you have to choose which ones you want to install.

Bigack, I'm glad it worked for you! Right after I'd hit the "submit" button I got to thinking that what I wrote is correct for Internet Explorer, but I don't know what browser you use, and I'm not familiar with any of the others...
