Yep, I'm with ya. Nothing better than a good snow storm and a warm, cozy house. I love the snow. What I don't like is the dirty, wet, slush that comes days after a good snow. I actually don't mind driving in snow, but freezing rain is another story. That terrifies me! As long as I don't have to go anywhere I'm fine. Winter is great as long as we get cold and snow.

LOL i feel the same way about people who live in orlando and whine about the heat and humidity lol...hello it's not a secret it's summer 7 months out of the yr here! i LOVE heat and humidity, i have even worked outside for many yrs here and still loved it. i do HATE temps under 70 and snow hehehe but that is why i left chicago... just thinking about driving in snow or on ice makes me want to throw up, never ever again. i was in a really bad accident hit head-on on a chicago expressway because of black ice. took me yrs to be able to drive in again but now that it has been 13 yrs since i've seen snow, i could not do it.

i just came back from a frantic shopping spree buying clothes for a week in atlanta...sweaters, coats and sox. just hope it turns out warmer than the 60's daytime/30's nighttime predicted this wk :-( we have a huge jacuzzi garden tub in our hotel room so i will be warming up in the evenings for hours lol. ~ liz

I would like to have a mixture of it all. But seldom get the experience of snowfall.

I love, love, love winter. Nothing better than being snowed in and crocheting and making soup. There's something very peaceful in the morning of a new snowfall, soon ruined by the plows, blowers, etc. But love it anyway :-)

I prefer winter, don't mind the ND winters, cannot stand humidity(get deathly sick) and don't mind dry heat, I feel better in the cooler temps and am learning to drive on ice and compacted snow/ice. And this from a person who use to live in the dessert in CA. I also like No Calif when the winter storms come in.

I love snow and winter. I wish we got more of it.

I know you didn't ask who doesn't like winter, but it's just not for me. I hate not having the windows opened and everything being brown or gray. Don't like that slush Glenda mentioned either. Nothing like stepping off a curb into icy cold water. Why is February the longest, most depressing month of the year? No green, no flowers. And, I don't like having on all those clothes--so many layers I had to scoot the seat back to get all of me behind the wheel. Nothing fun about an ice storm that kills the trees and blows branches over power lines and shuts off the electricity when it's 20 degrees outside. I honestly hate that kind of weather even though I lived in Indiana 37 years. Now if I could have their summer weather most of the year, I'd move back in a heartbeat!

We had a bad winter last year--there was even some snow on the rooftops one day. First (and hopefully last) time for that!!!

I just hate allergy seasons! :)

I don't mind the snow. I hate the really cold stuff and I don't mean freezing temps. I mean the stuff under zero. Twenty below is the pits. It's a good thing we don't normally have many days of that. Ten above and up is a great temp to me. I can say that in the past couple of years, I have preferred the summer temps much more.

I hate winter because last winter lasted 5 or 6 months. I don't like slipping on the ice. I don't mind driving in snow. If I don't have to go out, I enjoy sitting in my nice warm house and watching it snow. Actually the 4 seasons are better than the vanilla weather of CA.

I love snow and winter is my favorite season.

I prefer the vanilla weather of California.....especially the beautiful central coast.
if I want to go to the snow, I can......did that once when the kids were small.

i harte driving in winter weather. But I do like sitting inside indoors on a snowy day, just looking out my window. Of course I have heat, electricity and plenty of good foods to eat. And a wonderful neighbor who plows out my driveway and sidewalks.

The ice storms are where I draw the line. I like winter. It's comforting to curl up with someone, with a blanket, maybe in front of a fire, simmer a pot roast, stew or chili or whatever and look out at the snow. Of course presupposing that heat and electricity are working. I'll take snow and cold any day over heat and humidity. Favorite season is fall. You get days in the 80s, snow, sun, rain, you can easily get it all for variety and watch the trees change.

I love to see snow & be in it. I was raised in NJ, so I know all about snow. I know it can be a pain but its so beautiful!

I love fresh snow. I don't mind the cold, but when it gets to -40C, it's brutal. Then the wind picks up and it gets crazy cold. I've seen it -60C here. It was like that for over a week about 15 years ago. When it warmed up to -20C, my husband and I were outside with jean jackets on, open and started laughing because it felt so warm outside.

I hate driving in the snow. Our roads turn into shiney skating rinks and the side streets don't get cleaned off, or salted quickly enough. I was stuck twice this week just trying to cross the street. If people would learn not to spin their tires in intersections it wouldn't make it so hard for those of us who know how to use gears to get going. I drive an automatic, and going into 1st, then 2nd, before drive usually works. Unless the intersection looks like a mirror. ugh.......

After posting about our weather I could not resist reading this thread(I don't read everything that is posted) Snow comes in many forms. When it is cold soft and powdery it is not only beautiful but easy to walk, drive in and shovel. When the temps are around zero the snow generally turns to slush which is not so easy to walk in or drive on. We generally get the colder temps around here so although it usually takes some people a week of so to get used to winter driving once the snow comes it is not usually too bad for either walking or driving when the temps go into the minus teens. It's when its melting that it is the worst and we sometimes have two or three weeks of melting in spring.

Last winter we did not have our first major snow fall till January 23 or 24 and I really missed the snow. And in spring and summer it was noticed that many of the plants did not survive because of the lack of snow cover. So for the sake of plants if one is having cold temps a good snow cover is very beneficial.

We have usually 6 months of snow in ND. Cloudy,cold and overcast days. That is too long, seems like winter will never end! All you can do is go from car to building to buildings back to your car. I'd rather be outside in nice weather than cooped up inside.

Yup - I love winter!! I like it the most when there's a lot of snow vs. a dreary snowless winter. The cold doesn't really bother me since I don't have to spend much time outside when it's really cold if I don't want to. As long as it's not way below zero though I like to be outside - love a nice walk on squeaky fresh snow. I'm in MN and it's not like it's bitter cold for months straight. Sometimes it's really cold for weeks but it usually warms up a bit now and then. What I really love is the change of seasons - by the time you're tired of the heat and humidity or the cold, dreary winter it's time for a new season. The shorter days and longer nights bother me much more than anything else about winter.

If I worked at home or could walk to work, if I was retired or a SAHM, then I wouldn't mind any type of weather. But I have quite a commute to work, with a small child in my car and I don't like driving on slippery roads so for that reason, I don't like snow (or ice or even slush). There are other reasons too, like the crowded grocery stores and excited weather people, whenever there is a possibility that we might get some frozen precipitation.

Sorry, we can't all like everything and I know very few people who don't complain about anything (ah hem, some people like to complain about people who complain). I live where it snows sometimes because I grew up here, because my family is relatively close by and because I make my living here - I'm not just going to pick up and move.

Winter is my least favourite season. I'd be a happy camper if we only had snow in December and it was gone the rest of the year.

I'm with heather! I guess I don't mind an occasional snowy day. Some days here, you look out the window and it is so beautiful, it looks just like being on the inside of a snow globe with huge fluffy white snow coming down.... only for hours and hours and hours and hours.... We have lake effect snow and often get 10-12 inches a day for several days a week. Last year we had only a 'little bit' of snow at 169 inches for the season. The year before it was about 200 inches. What I hate is dealing with it. The snow moving, slush, piling up in the yard (we end up with about a 12-14 foot pile in front of our house), having to wear snow 'gear', walking puppies in it 3 times a day then having to restrict them to the kitchen until they are dry so they don't mess up the furniture, slippery roads, I could go on and on...

No, I don't much like snow.. or actually winter! If Gary's job were as portable as mine, we'd go south for the winter :-) But it's not... so we wait for retirement....

paula has a great point, if i did not have to leave the house then i could deal w/ most other weather lol for a few yrs. right now we are trying to decide if we could live somewhere north of orlando. i could do it temporarily maybe 2 yrs and be a SAHW i wouldn't be as happy but i could deal w/ it for 2 yrs lol.

i love it when tourists come down here(orlando), trying to be cheap visiting in off season and complain about heat & humidity LOL. uhhh that is why it's off season May-Oct it's hotter than hell, we hibernate here LOL ~ liz

Once I get cold I can't get warm. Most people can just put on an extra layer. I just don't seem to produce heat. I have to get warm from an outside source.

When others are wearing sweaters I'm already in a jacket. Jacket weather I am layering. Anything under 68 is cold to me. Perfect weather is 85 to low 90s.

Snow is nice to visit. Not something I would want to deal with for a whole season.

So yes. I pretty much hate winter. It hurts.

I like the four seasons which is why I'm happy I live in Williamsburg. I get winter but it only lasts about 2 1/2 months....hate six months of winter which I've had most my life in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. I like the first day of snow when everything looks pretty. don't much like it after that. That's what's so great about living here. We occasionally get snow but usually it's gone in a day or two. Last year we had one snowfall of 8" and it hung around a couple of weeks but thats rare.

The older i get, the more I hate winter. That's why we have become snowbirds. We are very fortunate to be able to do it, too.

Add me to the love winter/snow list. Born and raised in PA we get our fair share of snow and cold, but not like a lot of other states and our northern neighbor. I truly hate summer. The heat & humidity actually nauseate me. And the allergies, ugh. Pills, sprays, inhalers, shots and I still get sinus and ear infections but better than before starting all the meds. I do understand not wanting to drive on dangerous roads though.

I love the snow....while it is falling...then after it stops reality set in along with a shovel.

Much prefer autumn and spring, but I'll take winter over summer. I feel awful in the heat and humidity.

I like winter because it is good for certain kinds of employment. I like fires in the fireplace. I also have less allergies during winter.

Our weather is pretty mild except for a couple of months of the year. We have extreme heat in July and August and the rest of the year, it's decent enough. I've heard people from up north talk about how they hated Texas....they once took a vacation in August and couldn't wait to get home........yes it makes sense to me.......I don't like being here in Aug and why some person who has cold weather 10 months of the year would come to TX in Aug is beyond me...........
