Thank goodness I was leaving as a tour bus fron Knoxville pulled it!

I've seen as many as 3 in their back parking lot at one time.

I took a day of doing one odd job after another. They pile up if you don't keep at them.

Evening meal: mashed potatoes w/pulled chicken, green beans, and cottage cheese.

I have been lazy today but I did do a few household chores on this cool day. We will have chili and saltines for a quick supper.

We are having Stouffer's Lasagna, garlic bread, and a big salad. My cousin & her DH are coming over to hopefully watch LSU beat the tar out of Alabama tonight on ESPN(I think)

I'm making a Hubby Happy Meal tonight: steaks, baked potatoes and sautéed mushrooms. Some broccolini for redemption.

Jody came home early and has been working on the new barn. Finally got the roof all on, but one little piece. I'm so happy with my new barn, I am fixing all of his favorites. Tonight, chicken and dumplings.

It was very pretty out today but breezy. Cheryl and I delivered her cookies and my pumpkin pies to the church today for the chili soup supper. Then we went to see Alyssa for awhile and then I came home. It didn't seem like long till we left for the chili supper. I had chili soup, they had potato soup too, peanut butter sandwiches, crackers, carrot and celery sticks and all kinds of pie, cake and cookies. I chose coconut meringue pie. You can go back as much as you like. I only made the one trip. I had iced tea to drink. All this for $5.00 The service was good, they came around and filled your drink or got you more soup if you wanted. Very nice evening.

It was cool here today but pretty. I stayed in & worked on various things around the house. Tonight I have a pot of black bean soup simmering. We'll have it with cilantro lime brown rice. We should have enough left over for several more meals or to freeze. I'm multi-tasking tonight. We're catching up on tv shows we recorded while DH was out of town while I do the meal planning & grocery list for next week.

A little warmer this morning it was 30 & got to 60 today. Today was cleaning day.

For dinner I made a pan of manicotti, hubby loves that too. Made garlic bread & salad. Dessert was brownies.

Just a plain salami sandwich. Grandson #2 team lost both hockey games. I survived 2 hours in the arena comfortably as it is not that cold yet.

One will be more than I can handle....so I cooked just three of them for Denny and I.
They will be smothered in BBQ sauce.

We are having baked beans and corn on the cob with it.

Tonight is the annual firemans supper here in our small town. It is there 60th anniversary. There I a gun raffle and gambling after the pork feed. That's where we will be going. I had to do some baking for the bake sale that they have too. I made a chocolate chip pecan crumb cake using Krusteaz pancake better. I found the recipe on their website. It sure looked good. I also made some muffins.

We are at Buffalo wild wings watching the games and eating. Right now garlic fried mushrooms, later wings.

We were up and out of the house before light, to get to the location we were shooting at, and get set up. Then, spent three very intense hours shooting the 30 second Doritos commercial we're doing for a contest. I was DP and had to run three cameras at once. Lots of work!
We came home, unloaded the car and took a nap! Editing has begun, and will be every day, as it needs to be entered by the 28th.
We ordered delivery pizza.

Glenda, I've been in restaurants before when the tour bus pulls in. It's a madhouse trying to get everyone's order and food to them in a timely manner. I sure feel sorry for those waitresses/waiters, and hope the get nice tips.

Shirley, I need to do that, too. I haven't found a new cleaning service yet, so I'm trying to do just the basics. Enough to keep the health dept. away :-) You had a great-sounding dinner, BTW!

Sweet Betsy, do you put beans in your chili? I used to but one day I didn't have any and I never went back to adding them.

Orchidllauraga, I just love Stouffer's lasagna. I bought one because I'd heard they were good and swore I'd never make my own again. The LSU/Bama game is probably the game of the year. Sorry, but don't count on LSU winning. Alabama is on like a 5 or 6 year roll!

Seagrass, LOL! But that really is a hubby loving meal. I wouldn't mind it myself.

Marilyn, beware! We built a huge garage/workshop/man cave when we lived in OT. It took Harry about one week to fill it up until there was no longer room for the car. He even built a loft to hold the spill over. All that stuff had been lurking in the attic. You're nice to fix him his favorites. That happens to be MY favorite, too :-) In fact, that's what I requested every year for my birthday meal (only we call them noodles).

Sue, you sure can't beat the price of that meal. I'd sure love a piece of that pie!

Kittiemom, I haven't made black bean soup over rice for many years. Don't know why other than the fact my recipe is loaded with bacon. But it's sooo good! Bet it was good!

Geez, Mary. You cleaned your house AND made a yummy dinner! You surely will sleep well tonight.

I am home now and I want to testify! Omg the garlic infused fried mushrooms were awesome. They were small and they don't give you a lot of them, but I definitely will be getting those again.
I told my waiter I loved them, he said he is addicted and must have them at least 3 times a week lol.

Dinner is in the oven...brats on one side hot italian on the other nestled with leeks, potatoes and cabbage..drizzled with balsamic, evoo, s&p.

Guys are at the high school football game..We had Kamren's championship at 1.. They lost for the first time this season 14-22. There were nearly 36 13/14 boys bawling their eyes out.

Weather was chilly but not wet, like last week..so not to bad.

A dear friend brought me food from her sister....wonderful butterbeans and fried ham with cornbread and a slice of marble cake. So GOOD!

13 and 14 year old kids of either gender shouldn't be crying because their team lost a game. Kids in sports are supposed to be taught that being a good loser is as important as being a gracious winner.

We had left over "boiled" chicken with noodles. I brown the chicken first with onions, carrots and celery and then "boil" it with homemade chicken stock.
I got a butternut squash in the CSA box last week and roasted it today. I took the top part and cubed it, put in in a baggie with a little olive oil, some fresh herbs from the garden (sage, bay leaf and fennel seeds) and let it set for awhile.
Then I roasted them until slightly brown.....I forgot to say I added some coarse sea salt and freshly ground pepper.....and it was delicious.
Mr. Wonderful preferred the baked with some agave syrup and cinnamon.
I love the community supported agriculture food....grown locally and some of the stuff is organic. (And the farm is owned by a local family whose kids went to school with my kids.) Well, Brian is third generation.

Some wonderful sounding meals for Saturday. Carol, I think that I could live on butternut squash for weeks on end, never tiring of it.

We had a wonderful night! Some friends of ours, who also used to live in the Lowcountry of S. Carolina, returned from a visit there with two full bushels of fresh oysters from the marshes beautiful Beaufort.

We were able to have an outdoor oyster roast that equaled any I've been to in the lowcountry. I brought a rice dish with lots of chopped veggies and smoked sausage, and some marinated chicken to grill. Someone else brought a wonderful mixed green salad. We also had new potatoes, grilled and crispy, herb biscuits and more.

I tested out a couple of Thanksgivakkuh hor d'oeuvres and a couple of puff pastry tarts on everybody. Somebody brought a wonderful coconut cake....I'm still thinking about that!

A couple of people brought their guitars, we played music to dance to. At the end of a long night, those of us remaining sat around the fire and talked.

I brought enough raw oysters back home for an oyster stew.

Patti, I am the junk collector in the family...not him. But, my problem is filling it up with horses and mules. We built 3 stalls and have plans for 3 more. He seems to think that is enough, but I asked him..."where are we going to put my mule colts?" :D

Of course, they aren't born yet....or even on the way yet....but I'm making plans. Anyway, we didn't have the chicken and dumplings because he called me out to work on the barn with him and I put it in the crock pot and it took a long time for the chicken to cook, so I am going to fix that tonight. Instead we had huge salads with everything you can think of (and then some) in them. I just discovered Marie's Raspberry Vinaigrette and I love it. I will be eating a lot more salads, I think.

Those oysters Rhizo mentioned sound so good. Oysters are probably one of my all time favorite foods, except I just like them fried. We eat oysters a lot in the winter. My husband has an oyster license on his boat, but I think he is going to sell it because he doesn't oyster any more, and licenses are closed here now and worth about $10,000. But we buy oysters from the local oyster houses or sometimes he brings some home off of a friend's boat and opens them. He likes them any way...roasted, raw, fried, in stew, etc. My mother loved oyster stew and I used to make it for her a lot.

When I first moved to the coast, I didn't much care for oysters. Fried was fine....but it took me awhile to love them....even crave them.....luke warm, just off the fire and barely opened if at all.

The typical condiment in that part of the country is a dipping sauce made of mostly horseradish with a little (very little) catsup. Some would like to dip the raw (or warm) oyster into the sauce, then put it
on a Captain's Wafer cracker.

So so deeelicious! :-)

OMG rhizo I am sooo jealous of your oyster fest! That is my kind of shindig! And fresh oysters are one thing I really love.
My doctor has forbid me to eat them raw anymore but I can sure eat them cooked just about any way and those roasted on the fire would be a real treat.
