I love Netflix also. We have the unlimited two at a time plan. They have a plan that's $5, but there's a limit of two DVD's for the month. Ours is like Jodi's. We can get as many as we want during the month. The only restriction is that we can't have more than two at home at a time. The shipping is fast. Usually I send a movie off & they receive it & ship a new one in 1-2 days. If we watch both movies on a weekend & send them back on Mon. we have two new ones in plenty of time for the next weekend. Our plan is $14/month. We sometimes watch two movies on a Sat. night. If we were renting or using pay per view on the cable that would be close to $10, so I think the Netflix is a pretty good deal. We been subscribing for a year & it's been a really good experience. I also like that you can add movies to your que before they're released. It will just add it with a note of when it's expected to be released on DVD. There is no extra postage; all fees are included in your monthly charge. It's a really great service. We also rent movies sometimes from Redbox. At $1/night, it's pretty good if you're just not in the mood for one of the Netflix movies you have. Redbox seems pretty popular & movies vary per location. You can go online to reserve them, but it's a little hit-or-miss. Still a good deal if they have something you want. We got one that was scratched & I went online & reported it on their website. Within a couple of days they had removed the charge from our debit card. There are a lot of websites where you can get coupons. I just found some for $1 off two cans of Progresso soup. Wal-Mart price is $1.25/can. That leaves me with a final price of $0.75/can. These are manufacturers' coupons so they should be good anywhere. Couponmom.com is a good site. You can also buy coupons on ebay. The seller charges a small fee to clip them. Like with most things, you have to check the details. If it's a lot of coupons for something you only use occasionally & the expiration date is close, it may not be worth even the small clipping fee. Be sure to check the expiration date & make sure to see that it's a manufacturer coupon or one that's good in a store you have nearby. If you're looking to save money, I've found that buying bread at the bakery thrift store is a good way to do that. I like Nature's Own, which is nearly $3/loaf even in Wal-Mart. My thrift store usually has it for $1.80 buy one get one free, so I get it for around $0.90/loaf.

I could never turn into the "Coupon Queen" because we eat simple whole foods for which you find precious few coupons. So I don't pay for expensive packaging and advertisement for my food choices, and find less-expensive alternatives for as many other things as possible. In order to keep the food budget to $50/week for 2 adults (which is the FIRST and most successful way to save money on groceries- set a spending budget, and THEN make wise choices) -- maintain a large amount of food in storage, as well as following a well-balanced diet using a large variety of food -- I purchase INGREDIENTS, with which I make foods from scratch, and avoid highly-processed convenience foods. I also take advantage of a home garden and all the free food I can gather (end-of-the season gardens friends share with me, free-for-the-picking fruit and nut trees, free berries, free grain....). FREE beats a coupon any day! I looked at a container of Bisquick Shake & Pour Pancakes ($2 for 12-15 pancakes) at the store recently (it seems to often have a coupon for it in the newspaper). There must be all of 12-cents worth of ingredients in the throw-away plastic container.... (tsk, tsk) I was thinking of all the things I can make BESIDES pancakes from those same few ingredients: flour, eggs, milk, vegetable oil, salt, sugar and baking powder. So the pancake mix isn't very versatile compared to ingredients. There appear to be more food-related coupons that contribute to the "over-fed and under-nourished" in this country. Even the so-called "healthy" selections are simply over-priced, feel-good items which are ALSO highly-processed. It's important to remember for every 50-cents saved using a coupon, it's estimated that you also need to spend $2.00. And as my husband likes to point out, the only way to SAVE money is NOT to spend it (but I digress - LOL). I've seen them called IMPULSE COUPONS. These are the coupons people use to try some new items they may not normally try; things children see advertised on TV and come under the heading of KID IMPULSE COUPONS; and MOMMY IMPULSE COUPONS for makeup, hair-care products, unnecessary laundry add-ins, etc... That being said, I use coupons, but I normally stack the savings - get double value, purchasing an item that is also a loss leader or otherwise reduced or discounted, and see if I can also take advantage of a rebate. I purchase groceries from Dillons, Aldi, and Wal-Mart, and bulk items from a number of sources. To date: $2,200 total in food budget for the year. Spent at Dillons: $934.20 Saved: (according to the bottom of the last receipt) $505.78 this year. This is the only store I use coupons. -Grainlady

I think a lot of these people resell the products for a profit, of course the aren't going to say that on TV then the tax man will hunt them down. They will buy 90 bottles of mustard (or whatever) with coupons and work it so they make money on the mustard. i.e. Mustard is on sale for $1. They have coupons enough for 90 bottles that add up to a savings of $1.50 on each. So, they make 50 cents on a bottle which in turns, pays for their meat. Then they either resell the mustard or give it away, or some just hoard it, why, I don't know. I love couponing, and on Friday I had a nice haul of a savings at $80. Far from the extreme couponers but for me a huge and exciting deal! If I get coupons for stuff like free baby formula (and there are no babies in this house anymore) I will either get the formula and drop it off at the food bank or leave the coupon on the shelf where the formula is, so that whoever sees it and buys that product can benefit from it. I also do that with coupons that are getting close to expiry, just leave them on the shelves for someone else. I do "hoard" some stuff, because I just can't refuse the great deal, but it's great to have for all the food drives that come around a few times a year, I always have lot's of stuff for them. I would love to coupon on a bigger scale, but it is so time consuming. But it's nice to be able to save every a little something every week on stuff that you would generally buy anyway. No one leaves this house to get something without asking Mom if she has a coupon for it. Usually I do! Then there is groupon, omg, in love....!

I shopped Joss & Main for a Kraus Apron sink. They had an additional 25% off. Ebay was not the cheapest, so I didn't miss out...but THANK YOU for telling us.....
