Anyone watching ''The Chew'' ?

There are so many good cooks here. Anybody here watch "The Chew" on ABC? It's on Monday thru Friday on ABCD in the afternoons. The host is Mario Batali, who I missed a lot when he left Food Network. I've even eaten in one of his New York City Restaurants, Babo. Hubby and I went to celebrate his birthday. Even without a reservation, we showed up for dinner. Seeing hubby in a wheelchair, they were super nice and got us a table right away. DH had Beef Cheeks Ravioli,and I had a salad with ground olive dressing. Anyway, MB is on with four or five other cooks,plus a minor celebrity, including one of Dr. Oz's daughters. They prepare foods (not really exceptional fare- everything starts with farlic in olive oil) and then they ooh and ahh over each others' creations. It's wearing a little thin for me. Glenda or anyone seen it?

I have seen it, but not really a fan. I don't think it will last long.

Yeah, I saw it got generally bad reviews, so I'm pretty sure it will be gone by January.

From what Reality Steve said on his blog (and he's never been wrong yet), the producers did more than just force Jason to end his relationship with Melissa during the After the Final Rose (AFR) show. The producers forced Jason to choose Melissa when he really wanted Molly (if he'd wanted Melissa, he would have had to choose Molly -- the point was that he had to propose to the one he DIDN'T want); then he had to break up with her on the show. The reasoning behind it was that the show had been kinda dull for quite some time -- none of the relationships after Trista and Ryan had worked out, and the show needed some real drama to keep viewers interested. It wasn't a shock to Melissa when Jason broke up with her on the AFR show -- he'd already broken up with her in real life, and he'd already been seeing Molly, even though he and Molly pretended they hadn't seen each other at all. The reason their wedding was televised (and the same reason applied to Trista and Ryan's wedding) was because that was one of the terms of the contract to be on the show. The contract states that if a marriage results within a specified period of time, then ABC holds all the rights to the wedding. Jason and Molly really didn't have much say in their wedding planning. Yes, Molly got to ultimately choose which particular gown she wore, but it was ABC that chose the designer. ABC chose the wedding planner, the cake baker, etc., etc. Jason and Molly's wedding was a one-show, two-hour event, unlike Trista and Ryan's. Primarily because viewers weren't as vested in their relationship as they were with Trista and Ryan's.

I'm an anglophile, so I am interested. I'll be happy seeing the TV news AFTER the event. (Much nicer than having to arrive at the Abbey at 8 a.m. for an 11 a.m. service; seriously, that's in the schedule.) I'm interested to see that the Middleton family has taken over The Goring Hotel. The bride will be sleeping there tonight. DH, DS and I stayed there before a Baltic cruise a LONG time ago. DS was intrigued with the very elaborate bathrooms, and his little room under the eaves overlooked the hotel's large private garden. The palace is just 'round the corner. One of the best trips we ever took was driving around the counties outside of London, staying in self-catering places. I've loved England since touring when I was 14.

I dunno. I must not notice because while they do talk about it, they talk about face lifts, tummy tucks, diet, exercise, head lice.... oh boy........... there's been a lot lately. LOL The other day they talked about drugs your kids may be doing and even had some guy do some on stage so we could see and hear how he felt about doing it. I think they do discuss it daily, but it's not the major thing they talk about. is that making sense? LOL

Thank you for your kind comments! She is a sweetheart. She's lived in Paris her whole life but because my brother is American, she is completely and seamlessly bilingual. She has been studying acting for a while, but this is her big break. I've got my fingers crossed for her!

I was looking forward to this show since I especially enjoy Carla, but I "tried" to watch it twice and found myself bored. I don't think it will last either.

I watch it. So far I haven't gotten tired of it. I sometimes check out their recipes to see what they're oohing and ahhing about.

I can take it or leave it but Harry really likes it. Then again, Harry really likes his food so it's no suprise :-) I'd hate for it to be cancelled because who knows what they'll replace it with. I hate to think!

It's on opposite Hoda and Kathy Lee here so I always forget to watch it. I love Mario Batali and Michael Symon, so will try to tune it in today.

Anyone know why Mario left the Food Network? He was one of my favorites.

I have not been wowed by any of the recipes, plus they all talk too fast. I had high hopes for the show because I really like Carla, but I don't see it lasting too much longer.

Same goes for The Talk which I really enjoyed last season, but find boring this season.

I've really been enjoying it.....enough to record it everyday. It's just a few cooks having fun and sharing tips and recipes. I like it!

I cannot stand to watch Mario Batali but think he has some great recipes.
He just looks nasty, sweaty and creepy to me.

The Oz daughter is not my favorite, but I think the show in general is not very good.

So I turned it on but didn't have the opportunity to really watch it. But Mario wasn't on!

I enjoy watching it . Like some of the receipes but just get a good feel how they interact.

I switch to that channel to catch The View instead of Hoda and Kathy and it follows The View.
