I'm on my way in an hour to take Ernie for surgery this morning for artery replacement in his leg..possibly in 2 places if the surgeon can't get a good blood flow.

He's had incredible pain for the past 2 months in his leg-not able to dance, walk any distance nor swim or bike. The Dr said the thing is too closed up to stent or balloon, thus surgery today.

My bigger concern is that every artery in his brain is 70% closed-he has experienced 2 TIA's in the past month-so it does present some problems w/today's surgery. He'll be hospitalized for 5 days (??).

I'm feeling extremely nervous about this-sure could use some of the power of prayer & support of our mighty KT family, if you have a minute-please keep in in your thoughts this morning? Thanks! Sharon

I got a very nice 750gb serial ATA drive for $60 from Amazon in Feb 2010. A place called JDMadera on ebay sells a removable drive carriage for it for $13. Buy the two and you can put in and out that or any drive (serial) or get one each, serial / parallel and pop in / out any drive. This will give you free space and help you manage your data , safely, with a way to store it if you want it safe. Look on gogle for any 'file I can delete safely'. Don't take it's word for it. read and undersand before you do anything. However anything with a tmp at the end of the filename is OK to delete. If you're unsure do this: RAR or ZIP up all of the files that are .tmp files from any one directory so that when you later unzip them they can all go back to that same directory. Makes housekeeping easy.. Then after zipping or rarring them delete them (not the rar or zip file of course). If after a month or two you don't seem to need them of course then delete them. That's a method to help you save space. But I'd spend the $60 or $75 and get the peace of mind of having backup, safety, and anew thinking process to help you manage what will ALWAYS bea a constant problem Good luck. Andre

So just know that you have a lot of prayers coming your way and some good information,so please try and relax.I know it is easier said than done, but tomorrow you will be able to look for a doctor and know that you can be helped.

During a recent discussion on the causes of a someone's enjoying good health, someone suggested that good genes help a lot. Someone else said that a positive attitude, feeling at home in this precious world that God has given us was very important. And someone else said that taking care of one's body, mind and spirit were very important components, as well. It appears that you've done well on most of those counts, so far. My gas and electric bill are combined. The total used combined for July 5 - Aug 3 was $35+/-. BUT: our utility companies in Alberta like to tag on multiple fees and riders. I ended up paying $103.09 which should have been $153.09 but we get a $50 discount for a couple months from the Alberta Government: WHOSE FAULT IT IS IN THE FIRST PLACE WE PAY ALL THESE RIDICULOUS EXTRA CHARGES.... They took the price caps off! While some might say, 'OMG, that's so cheap!" my parents live on the lower mainland in BC. They paid altogether $72 for TWO MONTHS COMBINED. And they don't have all the extra charges we have. My son showed them his utility bill (he uses another company) and his bill was $350! FOR ONE MONTH. And that's without the furnace on. Don't forget it stays light here quite late in the summer so it's not like he has lights on early either. We usually don't have to turn ours on until after 9 or 10 in the summer. Earlier now that it's Fall. We changed all our bulbs to energy saving LED bulbs. So much for that idea because the more energy we try to save, the higher our bill becomes because the utility companies lose money even though they're making record profits. I could go on but I have to go to work so I can set money aside for this winters utility bills which will soon come to $500+ more a month. Do not even get me started on food! I work for a drugstore and sometimes do the price changes that come down every Tuesday. Two weeks ago I changed the price of a store brand humidifier. It WAS $40.00. It went up to $89! I thought it was a head office error and would change back within a few days. Nope. It went on sale last week for $60. The store cost? $19! Food has gone up close to 30% over the past year. Yet my raise was only 2%. The company I work for is owned by a major MAJOR retail company. I feel customers are paying for their advertising and all the stupid promo signs in the stores that NOBODY reads. I'm just glad my house is paid for and I don't have to pay rent. Most places here go for $1500 just for the main floor of a house, no garage. Plus household utility bills. A co worker pays $700 to rent a bedroom in a basement. She shares the bathroom and kitchen with two other people, who each pay $700 as well. That's 2100 for a basement! It's crazy!

My thoughts and good wishes are with you and Ernie today. Hope everything goes well. Just think about after it is all done and he is recovered, what you will have to look forward to again, dancing taking walks, etc..

Many prayers and good thoughts from here. DH has PAD, also. They waited too long and now he's so clogged in both legs there's no place to connect the bypasses. I sure hope Ernie can be his old self again. The recovery is long, but worth every second. DH's pain is terrible at times.
