Update on my nephew

First of all I want to thank you all for the overwhelming prayers and special thoughts...this place is the greatest for good thoughts and caring!

He came through surgery but it's not good. They had to cut out a piece of his skull to get to the tumor. It was a tumor the size of a tennis ball they said. They couldn't replace it yet because of the swelling so they had to leave it exposed until they can go back in and cover it. Last night the doctor said if he made it through the surgery that he would most likely be paralized on his left side and quite possibly be blind. Well today he is awake and aware that everyone is there and where he is and why, so that's a good sign to me. He can see and he is trying to pull his tubes out. They are keeping him heavily sedated to keep him calm. He did tell his dad a few days ago when he was throwing up blood that if they find more cancer he doesn't want to fight it this time. When he had cancer in his leg he was in the hospital for 1 week out of every month for a year for treatments and sick the other three...he was in bad shape then. It was such a radical treatment and a lot for his body to take. My sister said they put him through some tests today and they think they saw a spot of his lung also, so now it's just a wait and see thing. At least he made it this far and is awake....much more than they thought last night. I know he's in bad shape and not out of the woods, but miracles do happen. Thanks for all of your continued prayers, I just know they are helping.

Thank you for the update. I'm glad he is doing better than expected. Miracles do happen and everyone at the KT is praying for one for Alan.

Update added: We went down and saw my new nephew Aiden. What a little cutie. He is in the nursery full time and has an IV in his poor little head running all the time. This evening though they finally got to put him into his mama's room so that is good news. They left the port in his head just in case they need to use it again. The funny thing is that he looks just like Hayden, the two can be twins. I feel for my sil, her mom is totally mean and driving her nuts and is no help at all. She was going to stay for a month to help out, and with the babies problems she will need the extra help but out of the blue said good bye last night and no one has seen her since. My sil overcompensates by saying that she will just figure it out on her own. She hasn't been around babies and only has 2 weeks maternity leave, 2 days gone already. I hope to go down on Sunday when they get home and snuggle that baby. I will post a pic in a new post when DH gets the pics downloaded. Stacie

Judy Jay Rhiannon is the name of a Celtic spirit and we got it from the Fleetwood mac song Rhiannon. It is pronounced Ree-an-non. DH and I were teachers at the time and that was one of the few names we could come up with that didn't bring up memories of other kids. Nicole, Peyton might look older but she is such a munchkin, she only weighs 25 pounds at 2 and a half. She is just a minature little munchkin. Too bad that it took longer than expected, but hope that healing goes well with no complications or unusual discomfort. It is good that you feel certain that he'll be able to cope with it well. Ditto with Dave - this is a first I've heard that "forks" killed a tree. Maybe several dozen that severed ALL the roots? Oh well, bummer. I'd give it a chance to recover if the branches are still green. Recovery takes time, so be patient (6 months - 1 yr). Cori Ann, you can grow ANY Grapefruit in Livermore. you have the warm nights in mid summer that will sweeten the fruit up. And that is the key... where south Texas has those warm nights early on that sweeten the fruit by February March, our cooler spring delays the ripeness until late June/July or even August. Having said that, I just had an Oroblanco for breakfast yesterday morning.. and a Redblush this morning. the OroB has sweetened up and NICE (first decent crop - took 3 years). The OroB doesn't get ripe until late February / March in Danville. The Redblush I had to harvest because there were too many on the branch (looking like a grapevine) pulling it to the ground. The Redblush in years past has not colored up until July so I am waiting to see if this years' crop is the same. An alternate to the Oroblanco is Melogold... I can report back on those over the next week. Costco had dozens of Oroblancos last month... I might check their Concord Garden Center later today and report if I see some. BTW: I scored with a Rio Red on C35 earlier this week in Danville !!!! : - )

oh honey im so sorry for you i hate seeing people hurting. but maybe everyone should think about what he wants, poor kid jeeze, i know that sounded bad and i didnt mean it to, really i didnt. i dont know how youl all get through this but im praying for you and vent and talk all you want..heartfelt love and many hugs wen

That does sound encouraging....I'm hoping that taking out the tumor will be the end of it....I sure hope he changes his mind about fighting it...He's so young and has a lot of life left to live. But I've not walked in his shoes....

I will keep praying for him too....

Oh my goodness, Vikki! Bless Alan; even tho I guess I'd fight cancer if it returned, I can clearly see why he feels the way he does.
