Please Send Up Good Thoughts/ Prayers For My Brother
Comments (30)The funeral was this morning. It was beautiful, & it was the most heartbreaking thing I ever saw. Beautiful church, with beautiful flowers in tiers upon tiers, filling the entire end of the sanctuary where the pulpit was.. & 4 caskets, 1 just about half the size of the others. 3 ministers, 4 eulogies, 1 for a 6-year-old & 1 for a 3-year-old. What can you say in a eulogy for a first-grader? for a toddler? They said Michael was smart as a whip & loved the water & asked pointed questions & never met a stranger. They said little Landon was born in perpetual motion & brought a smile to every face. & Landon, a surprise baby, may have saved his mother's life: Had she not had a sonogram, the cancer that was growing inside her might not have been discovered until too late. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts, prayers, & good wishes. It means a lot to me & to my family....See MorePlease send good luck vibes to my daughter and virtual tissues
Comments (24)Jo, here's hoping the funding will come through for your daughter. My nephew, who hoped to be Ivy bound, is still waiting for word on funding to see if he can attend his dream school. He's looking at it pragmatically, hoping for the best news, but not willing to saddle himself/family with a mountain of debt if the money isn't available. I keep telling my sister that just having gone through the process and being accepted has given him experience and confidence that money can't buy. Same goes for your daughter. My DS was fortunate to have attended prep school. It was his choice, based on opportunities there for advanced studies in subjects that he was passionate about. But it was a real tug leaving friends, hometown teams, activities, etc. It was a good choice for him, but what was really sweet was that one of his best friends, who graduated from our town's public school, ended up as one of his Harvard roommates a few years later. My point is, that other boy and DS ended up at the same place. Believe me, I know the advantages that prep schools can offer. But I truly believe, and have witnessed firsthand, that kids who are passionate, capable and motivated (like your DD!) will succeed regardless of whether or not they have a prep school background. Still keeping fingers crossed for her!!...See MorePlease send good thoughts to Toodyay
Comments (12)Hi Lyra, we're just starting summer here, which is generally fairly dry. We don't expect any rain until June if we're lucky, July or August if we're not. I think the worst ting about losing everything in a fire is that your personal landscape disappears. Not just photos, but no more, "These were grandma's dishes, that's the picture I bought when we were vacationing in Mexico, here's the letter DH wrote me when we were dating and he was away at boot camp", that sort of thing. You lose all your history. Furniture can be replaced, but it won't be the coffee table Jimmy teethed on, the lamp that was a wedding gift... I would find that paralysingly depressing as I'm an old sentimentalist....See MorePrayers and good thoughts needed for my new nephew
Comments (35)Update added: We went down and saw my new nephew Aiden. What a little cutie. He is in the nursery full time and has an IV in his poor little head running all the time. This evening though they finally got to put him into his mama's room so that is good news. They left the port in his head just in case they need to use it again. The funny thing is that he looks just like Hayden, the two can be twins. I feel for my sil, her mom is totally mean and driving her nuts and is no help at all. She was going to stay for a month to help out, and with the babies problems she will need the extra help but out of the blue said good bye last night and no one has seen her since. My sil overcompensates by saying that she will just figure it out on her own. She hasn't been around babies and only has 2 weeks maternity leave, 2 days gone already. I hope to go down on Sunday when they get home and snuggle that baby. I will post a pic in a new post when DH gets the pics downloaded. Stacie...See Moreyeonassky
