I must be the odd person........... I have never felt the effects of the time change and just can't understand why people do. LOL I hear a lot of whinning and complaining from friends and family about losing an hour and it dumbfounds me. To me, it's the same as waking up too early one day, or going to bed late one night and waking up too early the next day. If you change your clocks the afternoon before and put it in your head that's the time now, it's easy. Well, for *me* it is. LOL the only time that any time change bothered me was when I got back from The Netherlands. Even going there didn't bother me. I was awake for 27 hours by the time I first went to bed my first day there, and woke up at 8 in the morning and felt great. But coming home was awful! It took me five days to turn my clock back. But there is an 8 hour time difference. One hour for me, is a breeze.

I'm an insomnia queen at this time of year and any change to my sleep pattern knocks me for a loop, especially getting out of bed in the morning! Just saw this on our local news.

Carolyn: The two years I attended the blueberry field day and tasting there were something like 20 some varieties as I remember. Not only did we have a tasting where the varieties were rated, we also got to taste the fruit in the field. My impression both years was that the differences between varieties in terms of eating quality was rather small. I'd hope the consumer would be able to decide which they liked best. But we know that's not exactly how it works. Yield is very important to the grower because they get paid by the pound. I'm hoping Sweetcrisp will continue to impress despite it's modest yield. Maybe it can have a future as a premium product that commands a premium price. Blueberry breeding seems faster than most fruits. New varieties arrive quickly so any info from a ways back is mostly outdated. Many of the varieties they spoke highly of in 2002-03 are long gone. Fall Creek Nursery, a major supplier to commercial CA growers and co-host of those field days, has a rapid turnover. Most of their current lineup of southern highbush has been added in the last 8 years. Perhaps Southmoon is the variety you are thinking of. I've never heard of Bluemoon.

Thanks for that tip, David! I googled sod webworms, and found a site or two that explained/described them and had some suggestions for how to identify if you have them: http://www.uri.edu/ce/factsheets/sheets/sodwebworm.html. I first went around and looked closely at the grass/soil, but could not find the signs they said to look for. I then did the soapy water test, but didn't see any of the caterpillars (larvae) come to the surface. I did see one adult moth, but they say that doesn't necessarily mean you have the caterpillars as the moths will fly quite some distance. I then took my hand spade/fork and chopped into some various areas to look under the grass about an inch or so, to see if I saw any grubs, caterpillars, etc. that could be the cause. But only found some ants and earwigs. I don't think either of those could cause damage to the lawn. So I am still at a loss, but will continue to look for any signs of the webworms or grubs. Or I may try to find some of the biological bacteria the sites talk about for killing the larvae and treat it anyway. The sites also mention types of grasses that are more resistant to the webworms (types of ryegrass and fescue). So possibly overseeding this fall with these or other hardier grass(like the Reveille blend that Amester mentioned, or others in the thread you linked to David) may be an answer. I am interested in the EZ Wet and Field Magic that Bob_In_Colorado has posted about and may try some of that - for a smaller sized area, though, as this much lawn area has proven to me to be too expensive to maintain (both with $$ on water, and time!).

You have my sympathy. Once we had 4 Abyssinian cats, whose 12 kittens made nights miserable by running around on top of us and biting our toes. It was like having a herd of tiny wild horses in the room. The remedy was to tire them out before bed. We would drag strings for them to chase around the apartment till they could hardly run any more. Irishdancersgram: "when they get older, they'll probably settle down...." Hah! Yes, that is what usually happens, but for the past few months, our 16-year old, who does sleep for much of the day, has taken to wandering around and practically howling for hours and hours during the night. He is healthy, but too old to be interested in playing, so we can't tire him out. While he cries in that loud, demanding Siamesey way (though he is not Siamese), he is leaping from the bed to the window to other furniture and back again, or running heavily right up my body to look at my face and go "purrup" in that endearing inquisitive way cats have. He is worse in warm weather and at the time of the full moon, and I wonder if there are skunks, other cats, or possums in the back yard, so he is dying to go out there. The most I will let him do at night is look out the window. By around 4:00 or 5:00 in the morning, he is ready to settle down. We are wondering if he is getting a bit senile because he never used to give us so much trouble at night. To my relief, the colder weather now seems to impel him to get under the covers and stay there. No trouble last night.

Well, it is new (published Feb '18) and it's interesting since it either supports or refutes older assumptions based on concrete genetic evidence. It also appears to solve some long standing 'disputes' and offers a concrete basis for an upated Citrus classification system. The raw results will be of use for further studies and hybridizing work.

The only time time change bothered me was when I worked midnight shift. It either added an extra hour to my work day which was long enough or took away an hour which messed with my break time. :) Other than that, I've had insomnia for eons.

The part that bothers me, is the eating time. My stomach is pre programmed. LOL

Moni - that is always my problem too! The sleeping part bothered me when I was younger, but after I hit 40 I just never seemed to notice anymore.

I've never been affected by time change. Even when crossing the date line. I've never been a good sleep solid for eight hours person in my life. It's worse now that I'm older. I rarely sleep for more than 4 hours straight. When I wake I have to pretend or "trick" my brain into thinking I'm still asleep to use the bathroom or get a drink. Otherwise I'd never get back to sleep.
