I think every woman that enjoys cooking needs to treat herself to a KA mixer ! You will love yours ! I have one and I laugh because I don't use it often, but I love it for mashed potatoes....kind of an expensive appliance for that, huh ! We gave one to my husbands daughter for Christmas a few years ago, and she loves it and she uses hers ALL the time ! I bet your cake will be wonderful !

This is the Lemon Bundt cake. It's soooo nice and yellow and lemony when you cut into it. Icing sugar and lemon juice glaze on top.

When Brigette came in, she took the place of the food processor. It's now in the dining room, on a stool, poor thing.

Sounds good. Try punching holes in the cake and dribbling thawed frozen lemonade into the holes. I used to make that and it is so good.

Oh, lovely!! I just used my KA mixer......1980 model. I'm going to keep an eye on the prices as Christmas approaches because I've been wanting a new one for a couple of years. My present one works great except that I can no longer attach the attachments--and I have many. So I'm thinking if I can score a bargain on the model that will accommodate them I'll pass my present one on to my DIL.

I still use my KA at least a time or two every week... I just took a look in my book that came with it and I bought it on Dec. 21, 1981.... and it is still going strong... The best kitchen investment I ever made.

Did you get attachments for it? I invested in a juicer, meat grinder, sausage stuffer, pasta maker and a couple of other things that came with it... The pasta maker I don't use all that much.. but the meat grinder and sausage stuffer I sure do. We make our own Italian Sausage and venison sausage when we have deer...

You will get a lot of use from that beauty..

I have a K.A., too, but couldn't cook without my food processor - I need them BOTH!

Kayjones, I still have my food processor......just don't have room on the counter for both toys. The FP is easier to move around than the mixer, so I've got it in the dining area on a stool. It's easy to bring into the kitchen when I need it.

I don't have any attachments. Speaking of, the only print material that came in the box was a large booklet advertising all the attachments for it, and a pamphlet offering Cook's country subscription. NOT a manual, user book in site.

Glenda, I posted the lemon recipe a few weeks ago in the daily recipe thread, but here it is again. Easiest cake in the world and absolutely delicious. Hubby just had a hunk and it's so light, he's in heaven. He said Brigitte can stay.

This is a very popular cake in my family!!
Zesty, light and refreshing. Stores, freezes and travels well.

Lemon Cake
1 lemon cake mix
1 instant lemon pudding mix
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup milk
4 eggs

Glaze
Combine 3/4 cup icing sugar with juice of 1 lemon

Mix the cake ingredients well and pour in a greased and floured Bundt pan.

Bake at 325 degrees 1 hour. Let cool in pan for a few minutes and set on a cooling rack set over a cookie sheet.
Poke holes in the cake with a fork, and drizzle glaze over top and down the sides.

Oh but I failed to say the cake looks really good.

I got mine a few weeks before Christmas 2 or 3 years ago. I came home to find a huge wrapped box with no tag under my Christmas tree. There are a few family members and neighbours who have a key to my house so anyone of them could have come in and left the box. I didn't know it was for me. I thought maybe they left it here so whoever it was for wouldn't see it. I came onto the KT with the mystery of the box and gave measurements and pushed it with my toe to see how heavy it was. Smart Kter's guessed and they all agreed it was a Kitchen Aid. I new then the gift wouldn't be for me. LOLOL How wrong I was. A week later I was out Christmas shopping with my brother and he asked me if I peeked yet and when I asked peeked at what he mentioned the box. He then took me home and told me to open it. I bake tons of cookies every Christmas to give away so he bought me something to help me out. My brother! LOL Never in my wildest dreams. I told my niece for years when she became rich and famous she could buy me a KA but never expected her Dad to do it.

I use about the same recipe and add some poppy seeds occasionally. Most of the time I use butterscotch and put it into bread pans for a quick bread and skip the glaze. You can use any flavor cake mix and pudding combo you like and get a great cake, quick bread or light muffins. Freezes great too so I often will make a couple batches, different kinds and freeze them. Sometimes use the small bread pans too. Good gifts at holiday time. Easy too.

Very nice gift Jasdip! I had one like it a few years ago, but it didn't last long. Just before it stopped working I found an older model at a rummage sale and I bought it for $20. I am glad I did as that is what I use now. I have a lot of attachments but don't use them too much. I use my food processor much more. Enjoy your new mixer. The cake looks really good too.

Did you eagle-eye friends notice that my bowl doesn't have a handle???

Couldn't believe it when I pulled it out of the box.
Looks like a brushed stainless vs. polished bowl as well.
The horsepower is still 275, so they didn't cut back on that at all.

Jasdip I think my older one doesn't have a handle but my newer one does. I use both bowls now since the old one quit working. I can just taste that lemon cake you baked!

I got a KA about 5 yrs ago and I love it. I was able to get mine very cheap at the Kitchenaide's online Closeout & Specials store. They shipped it to a place in Maine and a friend drove down and got it :) I was even able to get the bonus slicer/grating attachment for it. Mine is a lovely bright lime green.

I have the same yellow tile in my kitchen and your counter tops look almost identitical to mine. At least now I know how well a KA would look in my kitchen. lol

mine is old enough it doesn't have the head lift up feature...can't scrape the beaters as well, sigh...wish i could use it more.

I'll have you know that I have a GE electric hand-held mixer that is not only 46 years old, but is AQUA! (It was a wedding shower gift. LOL)

Great gift, Jasdip. I know you're going to love it. DH bought me one about 10 years ago. It was a complete surprise. I'd love to leave it out on the countertop but he picked cobalt blue for the color. I've never had a kitchen in blue but he just likes the color :-) They sure are heavy!
