Introducing Hard Working Kitchen Nooks
I can tell you how I fell in love with kitchen nooks. When my brother renovated a house for himself and his new bride, he installed an entire booth in the kitchen. He and my sister-in-law loved it so much that they would sit there and enjoy a few pints, pretending that they were in a pub, without spending a lot on ale. Also, they could wear their PJs to this pub.
Well, they started a family and outgrew the house and I moved in. In addition to drinking beer, the booth is perfect for family dinners, mac and cheese, Skyline Chili (if you don't know what this is, you haven't lived) and even for pulling up a high chair. Often when I have just a small handful of friends over for dinner, we hang out in the booth instead of the more formal dining room.
Anyway, that's my experience with my beloved kitchen nook, and the history of how became enamored with them. A kitchen nook is a great way to create a cozy eating area in a kitchen is with a nook. It can also save space and sometimes allow for an eat-in area where you might not have thought one would fit. Kitchen nooks can take quite a few forms - sometimes you can take advantage of a corner, a windowseat, or a booth. A great look is a cushioned bench with some fun throw pillows. I do recommend pillows with removable covers, so that you can wash out the cooking smells they pick up when necessary!
Anyway, I'm rambling about pints and cushions and cooking smells, let's just get to the scrumptious nook images!

This nook makes the most of the space, and even has some sneaky storage underneath the bench!
