I hate to be the one to relate it to you. but PJ's is now the in thing to wear on campus

BIG difference between what they wear on campus and parents that just don't give a $h*+!

I'm sorry, pj's are not ment to be worn out and about!
I hate seeing them! Just as bad as the guys with their
jeans pulled down so far it looks like they are going
to loose their jeans and their underware too!!!

OMG.... I'm glad my mother isn't around. I certainly miss her a lot but she got upset if I wore slacks instead of a skirt on the bus! Times may be a changing but I'm not ready to see PJ's outside the home or even someone coming to the door in them.

The PJ bottom wearing has been around for years. It's the new loungewear.

It's like wearing sweatpants outside the gym to my way of thinking.

I think both look cute on younger teens/twenties that are fit.

However it seems the large people are the ones who embraced both fashions to the extreme.

Dressing down is nothing new in some parts of the country. suburban wives used to run out to the store around in house dresses and curlers. Let's not forget the muu-muu that was so fashionable for a while there.

Now middle aged and older women have embraced hobbit pants. Now that will be something to look back on 20 years from now. LOL

To each his own. I say as long as you are decently covered, wear what you want. But I reserve the right to laugh at you and you at me.

Wildchild - what's hobbit pants? I've never heard of that or maybe I have seen them but just don't call it that.

I know that some people wear PJ bottoms but it's mostly the younger college types. I love them for home but not for wearing out. As for the type you wear to the gym, I have been known to wear these out but only when coming from the gym and usually just to the gas station.

I've been known to wear pajamas to the store. Generally it's when I'm coming home from spending the night at a friend's house and didn't have a change of clothes with me. If I need to pick up something quick on the way home, I'm not stopping home first to change. Granted, my pajamas are usually yoga pants and a tshirt so I suppose it's not so bad.

Scissors --- Hobbit pants is what some guys call capri pants. Most men hate them. They make the top ten lists of women's fashion/make-up things men dislike. Very unflattering to anyone who has any shape to their calves at all and many women would be shocked if they had someone take a picture of their rear in them.

I used to call them wide load pants but hobbit pants seems kinder. ;-D

Oh wow, so it's universal?!?!

We first noticed the Jammie Generation a couple of months ago. We were doing a little shopping at Kroger when Jenny suddenly tugged at my shirt sleeve and whispered excitedly in my ear; Joey, Joey, is that couple in their pajamas?!?! After a teeny bit of sleuthing it was obvious, yes! Hey, I'm not talking about warm comfy sweats or something semi sleep wear, I'm talking about obvious thin and sheer PJ's complete with fuzzy lined house shoes.

Since then the pajama thing has lost its surprise factor as there will usually be a few folks choosing that attire on any given morning. Also, this wasn't a tweenie/twenty something couple. Pushing 40 if not over.. real, real tacky!

I freely admit to a double standard concerning the pj patrol. Youth is beautiful in any attire and almost any fad, wear the pajamas! When you're in your 40's and choose to walk around the store in your pajamas? You're trying too hard my friend and you just look stupid. Unfortunately I've seen a few guys my age in the pajamas. Geez.

Honest, if I were to complain about the twenty-somethings walking around the store in their pajamas it would be from envy because I can't get away with it.

In winter, I wear leisure flannel pants for sleeping - very warm and cosy. My pair has two small pockets. these allow me to lounge anywhere in the house and perchance snooze as well. I have been seen in these going out to the curbside to get the morning newspaper.

There is a difference between pajamas and flannel lounge pants, although flannel has been a hated shirt for a long time too.

The "fashion" thing I wish some women would learn is that spandex is a privilege, not a right. If you insist upon looking like the Michelin Man, then expect to hear laughing.

And I still want to know, why is it the people with the ugliest feet insist on showing them off? I have to stop, I just ate and I'm about to spew chunks just at the thought...

Capris? That's a new one on me, I've never heard they were horrible and men hated them or any such nonsense! I find those to be great alternative to wearing shorts on days that it's not quite warm enough. This length pant is nothing new and my Mom had some of these many MANY years ago, like back before I was born she said they wore those. The trend comes and goes...

PJs in public, now that's a totally different sort of stupid! Right up there with the pant below the rear trend!

What difference does it really make if your pants are made of flannel or denim?
At least they are wearing pants....

Something about it grosses me out. Suppose they stop at McD's or try on clothes, then go home back to bed under the covers when those pj's have been worn all over town touching all kinds of surface?? Now the dirt and germs are under their sheets. Also the woman in pj's usuallly aren't wearing a bra.

My daughter wears pj bottoms and a sweatshirt to class sometimes, particularly during final exams or to early morning classes. The pj bottoms are plaid in her university colors with the university logo on them. I think she looks cute as a button.

I don't ever see people over the age of early twenties wearing pjs out. Mostly high school and college students. It doesn't bother me. Their pj bottoms have cute logos on them and the students are all covered up.

The cutest ones I saw were on a young man in high school, a swimmer, during final exams. Dr. Suess One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. I burst out laughing when he got in my car to go to swim practice.

I couldn't care less what other people wear. As long as I don't have to look at them naked, lol! PJ pants are far more attractive than sweat pants, IMO.

We all have our own ideas of what looks good and what is acceptable. I think all the women clomp-clomping like horses around downtown Seattle wearing high heels they can't walk in properly look the most ridiculous of them all. They probably think they look fabulous and spent a lot money on those shoes though. And they are socially acceptable no matter how dumb I think they are/look.

It's all in the eye of the beholder.

That's interesting about capris. I've always found them to be more flattering to my figure (including behind!) than regular pants. I'm pretty sure if I asked any of the men in my life about how they feel about capris, I'd get a blank stare!

You won't see my husband wearing pajama pants any where...he sleeps naked. :)) I wasn't aware of the trend until a friend of mine from Ohio came here, and went to the store in her pajamas. I had never seen that before. But, since then, I have seen it more often. I am sort of like Wildchild...I don't care what you wear. The ones I can't keep from staring at are the ones who are almost naked. I saw a woman, who had to be my age. Granted, she was thinner and had a good tan, but she had on short shorts, and a short top...I don't know what you call them...just comes over her breasts...bare belly and the shorts were low cut and she had an enormous rhinestone in her navel. There were so many lines (wrinkles/stretch marks?)radiating out around it, she looked like the noon day sun. I had such a hard time, prying my eyes away.
