I was at Ulta last week, not my favorite place to shop, looking something for my hair. I have color treated, fine hair but lots of it. I never use conditioner, a detangler or even shampoo with a conditioner. I stay away from any extra products, they make my hair flat and feel dirty the next day. I asked one of the hairdresser for a suggestion and she recommended Beach Envy volumizer by Redken. it was pricey but she said I could come in and swap it out if I didn't like it. I will say it is the best thing I have ever tried on my hair! Its almost like a gel that you apply after shampooing, work through and then rinse out. My hair is full, the slight curl, I wear it in a longish bob, stays in for at least 3 days and it does not feel dirty, it actually feels good. I like my hair to look healthy and have movement (says my hairdresser) and it does. BTW the gal from Ulta said if I didn't like that product that Fashion waves 07 that lukki suggested was very good too, she actually didn't know which one to recommend to me. I finally have a product that works for me!!! It will probably be discontinued tomorrow LOL.

If you want the spiky look, then mousse would probably give you the finish you want. My hair has gotten some curl in it which tends to get unruly in the summer, so I've found "It's a 10" leave in conditioner which seems to control and add a lot of shine. I get the walmart equate version though. I figure if it's popular enough for walmart to copy it, it must be well received in general. This is me on vacation in ID, just toodling around...I also don't color my hair...never have and am delighted to not have to start...yet anyway. But short hair is wonderful. It takes me 30 sec to dry my hair and go. Last thing I want to do is complicate my life. Congrats on the new do!

Thank you for thinking of me-- and this is so perfectly timed! I hit the Aveda site earlier today when I saw a promo or email for the sale. I started looking at the products and just got a little overwhelmed with so many new products-- they all sound like miracle workers but I hadn't heard much buzz about them so wasn't sure if I wanted to believe their claims and give them a try. I too use the tonic (maybe on your recommendation, Outside?!) I have used it for a number of years -- and still do --but it doesn't work as well now that my hair is lonnng. I think the foam may work better for me. I also need a better conditioner so I'll likely try both. I am also going to try the pure abundance hair spray-- one of the reviewers talked about using it the way I used to use Spritz Forte (long discontinued). I sprayed it on my brush as I dried rather than as a hairspray. I just haven't been able to achieve the same at volume since it was discontinued. Crossing fingers! How do you find their scents? I first started with Aveda back in the 90s. I loved their rosemary mint shampoo.. but it dried my hair out (and they've since changed the scent. I find it too sharp now). Thanks again for sharing. I ordered the shampoo, conditioner, and primer. I got the travel size of the conditioner because I use a lot less than the shampoo. Still, this stuff is REALLY expensive. I've used the shampoo and conditioner twice and see no difference in my hair. I used the primer once and hated my hair that cycle. It could just be one of those days when I would have hated my hair anyway, because that's how it goes with me. For volume at the crown I like Aquage Uplifting Foam at the roots. I'm getting a much needed haircut tomorrow and once the shock of that has worn off I'll give the Virtue products another shot. At that price, I need to love what they do to my hair, because I can spend half of what I did (probably even less) and get good results.
