Whew!! It's been an eventful few days here. Our son was married Friday afternoon. Bigbaby and I hosted the rehearsal dinner out here on the farm Thursday evening. Most of Friday was consumed by the wedding and yesterday we were entertaining out of town family members that stayed overnight with us. Add to that the fact that we were having phone issues Thursday afternoon. The repairmen fixed that problem but, knocked out our internet in the process. Internet was restored late yesterday afternoon. In the mean time I've come down with a cold and was kind enough to share it with Bigbaby.

But, enough complaining. The weather was absolutely spectacular this weekend, the wedding events unfolded as smooth as could be, and family gathered from near and far to celebrate this wonderful day.

Kathy I am so sorry your pictures are in limbo somewhere I do hope they show up. But I like the idea of dressing up again and have your picture taken. Our niece had a huge wedding fancy fancy the photographer she hired messed up all the pictures so she has no photos either. When my daughter got married the photographer was late, but I had bought those throw away cameras at each table with a note asking the guests to take pictures of their table and of bride and groom when they came to their table. The good news is that the photographer got there! Hurray and to make up for being late he stayed through the entire wedding so we have lots of memories. But let me tell you I was really stressed out!

Lpink, May 2012 would be a LOT better. Talk to her, will you? OK, the beer can cake. Bake 4 eight inch layers, more if you want taller. Mine was supposed to be a mug, but I couldn't figure out the handle, so it became a glass. Buy a dowel at the hardware, mine was 98 cents, then make a batch of rock candy. It doesn't need to be flavored or colored, it will be that amber color when cooked. When it's cooked, spoon it over the dowel so it runs down, you'll have a long piece of the dowel to hold onto as you only want the candy over about a foot of the end of the dowel. As it cools for a couple of minutes it'll get a LOT thicker and stick to the dowel, you'll have to turn it and tilt it to keep the candy looking like a "stream". Scrape about an inch off the top so you can stick the can on, then cut off the bottom of the dowel with a serrated knife so that you can stick the dowel down into the middle of the cake and it will go all the way to the bottom, with the candy just at the top of the cake. Frost the cake beer colored and the "foam" is just white buttercream squeezed in blobs from a wide plain tip. Stick the dowel into the cake, stick the can on top and voila!! A suspended beer stream, pouring into the cake. (grin) Annie

lakemayor, when you put the cursor on the picture in photobucket a drop down box "should" appear. On My screen the first thing under the picture is an empty box- click on the empty box. A check mark will be in the box now. Scroll down to the bottom of your photo bucket page and on the right will be four blue boxes. Click on the one that says "generate HMTL and IMG code. This will take you to another page of boxes with codes inside them. left click on the second box, the code will be highlighted in blue, then right click- a box will open -select copy. Then go to your forum post and left click, this will open a small box -select paste. Your post will contain the code. scroll down your post and select preview message. Roarah, I haven't read all of the comments that show distaste for the wedding, but yours caught my eye. I have been fascinated by the Travellers and Roma cultures and want to have a better understanding of their lives vs. what is presented on TV. I have had this book on my shelf for a long time and have only read some of it: I need to finish it. When I've watched the TLC shows, I try to see (even though we all know that reality TV is pure fantasy) what they like about their culture through their eyes. In other words, what works? Why do they have certain traditions? When I first saw the enormous dresses and such, they floored me-- but I figured that everyone has different opinions of beauty. I am certain they would find my wedding dress with nary a sequin to be dull and uninspired. As for the girls who are married at the age of 14-- it is hard to think about that, for sure. I think it is wrong and hope there are activists who are helping them see this and end it. I wonder if it is a case of a culture that has remained very isolated and therefore a throwback to a time where people just didn't live as long . . .so things like marriage and family were done at a much younger age. We see rape and they see tradition. I think it is hard, in general, too, when we are introduced to only certain aspects of a culture or religion that greatly conflict with our own values and traditions. It is difficult to find a balance of respecting others while finding some of what they do to be immoral. What I do is to remind myself of how much I don't know . . .to understand that I am only seeing one tiny piece (and it's from an ethnocentric perspective anyway). But it can still be a challenge!

Enjoyed all the pictures and putting a face to the name. Same thing happened to me after DS got married in September..I came down with a miserable cold. I'm glad you felt well for the wedding.

Sweet pictures, thanks for sharing. What a beautiful family and that little granddaughter is just precious. Went to a wedding up in Minnesota in Ottertail a year ago and it was snowing, guess I didn't need to bring my golf clubs, lol. We have had a beautiful stretch of weather, luckily for your bridal party.

What a beautiful family and loved seeing all the pics... I have never heard of wrapping the car in saran wrap..is that a local custom?

I had never heard of the Saran Wrap thing either. Just something the kids came up with. They went to Sams Club and bought the huge industrial size roll. When they came out and saw their car Aarons older sister offered to rent him a scissors for 50 bucks. ;-)
