Please share your fav grilled shrimp receipes

Had a wonderful grilled chicken, steak & shrimp dish at a great Mexican place last week...still searching for something similiar. If you have a favorite that might "suit my taste" would you share it!

Oh yum... I've never done grilled shrimp, but I've certainly ate it! I'll be looking forward to the recipes too!

I have used the sauce in this recipe many many ways.
Started out, when living in FL grilling rock shrimp and basting them with the sauce.

Then grilled med to large shrimp and basted with the sauce.

Grilled fish filets.

Reserve some of the sauce for dipping.

Now the below recipe is our favorite way: baked in the oven

bbq shrimp

This has been a family favorite forever.

3-4 lb shrimp OR less for your family *I buy deveined and shell on
2 tsp thyme
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp pepper
2 bay leaves or if they are small ones use 3 or 4
2 crushed garlic cloves (I used jarred crushed)
juice of 2-3 lemons **I used bottled for 3 lemons
1/4 lb melted butter
Melt the butter, stir in the ingredients.
Pour over shrimp and with hands, YES HANDS, toss with the mixture so each shrimp is coated, in a 9 x 13 pan, ( I used my large rectangle glass dish)
Cover with foil, bake 400 for 25 minutes. OR until they are all pink
I generally check and stir at least once.
To serve put on the table as is from stove

I have even bought frozen flounder fish filets and baked them in the oven with the sauce.

Annie's Salsa is delicious. I canned up 13 pints last week and we've already eaten 4 pints and I gave 1 pint to my carpenter. I also made some Peach Tomato Salsa to use up the last of my tomatoes and I thought it would be a nice condiment to pork chops. Today Joe grilled 1 chop to for lunch try it out and he deemed it "very good". The Peach Salsa definitely packs a punch. Peach Salsa (William Anatooskin) 6 cups chopped peaches (about 3 pounds) 3 large fresh tomatoes 1 1/2 cups chopped red onions 4 medium jalapeno peppers, seeded and finely chopped 1 large sweet red pepper, seeded and finely chopped 1/2 cup finely chopped cilantro 1/2 cup white vinegar 2 tablespoons liquid honey 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1. Sterilize 8, 1/2 pint jars, then place upside down in a 325 F oven for about 15 minutes. 2. Blanch peaches, cool in cold water, peel, pit and chop to measure 6 cups. 3.Blanch tomatoes and cool with cold water, peel, remove seeds and cut into chunks. 4. In a large stainless or enamel cooking pot, combine peaches, tomatoes, onion, Jalapeno peppers, sweet red pepper, cilantro, vinegar, honey, garlic, cumin and cayenne pepper. 5. Bring to a boil, and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently. 6. Adjust seasonings to taste. 7. Add more cayenne pepper if you desire a spicier taste. 8. Ladle salsa into hot jars to within 1/4 inch of top for headspace. 9. Remove air bubbles by sliding a rubber spatula between the glass and salsa. Re-adjust the headspace to 1/4 inch. Wipe jar rim to remove any stickiness. Center lid on top of jar; apply screw band just until finger tight. Place jars in a hot bath in a canner and process for 10 minutes. Remove jars and place on a towel, then cover with another towel to cool slowly. Jars are sealed when the lids pop and are curved down, (concave). Label jars and store in a cool, dark place. NOTE: You can substitute and use 6 cups of fresh, chopped pineapple for a different flavor.

Oh great, Robo! Cream cheese is definitely the standard so I am sure yours were great! Localeater, I think horseradish is perfect-- and the chives and parsley are a great addition too. We have red peppers, scallions and parsley so I may just garnish with scallions instead of chives. It will save another grocery trip! I am so happy with how it pulled together. We wanted to do a more special meal... none of the catered meals felt right. We thought about a tenderloin or surf and turf but as we pulled the book together, we realized how so many of the memories and lessons around dad center on food. He is the cook.. the griller.. and he's at the center of all our family food traditions. I had planned to use cards to identify the foods with memories or stories but everyone who has seen the menu has commented on how every single thing reminds them of dad. No need for cards to tell the association! He'll see himself in every morsel... plus many of them tie to "lessons" in the book. Little things.. like "grandpa taught me that coke tastes so much better from a glass bottle" "dad taught me to keep a salt shaker in the garden for the spring onions" and some with bigger meaning like the spicy shrimp he taught my learning disabled nephew to make. I can't wait! Thank you all!

Mamapinky, I think my DH’s taste buds have suffered the same issue as yours – too much fried food in his past! BTW, didn't you mention a laundry channel on youtube you'll be hosting (on another thread?) I can't find the thread, but let us know for sure - I'll sub, and my first question pre-youtube is how to get those 'screaming hot whites' - please do a vid on that! Cathy, I laughed out loud thinking of you spitting that tomato skin out and making the comment! Too funny! I have a good rapport with mine green grocer.. maybe coz I’m the only one asking for and buying some of the more unusual things here : ) Uh, chocolate chips in the yogurt bars… now you’re talkin’!!! I had a bag of cooked, frozen shrimp in my freezer and on Monday night, I fixed the shrimp. I used a NYTimes recipe that is actually a New Orleans recipe. It's called barbecued shrimp, and is rather misnamed as it includes neither a grill or barbecue sauce!! Put about 4-6 Tbs butter in a skillet. Add garlic to taste. Add about 2-4 Tbs Worcestershire sauce. Add shrimp. All of this is done quickly at a high heat. Since my shrimp were already cooked, I put them in still with a few ice crystals in them so they would not over-cook. I cooked them about 2-3 minutes per side. I then added a drizzle of lemon juice and salt and pepper. I poured the entire mess over a crusty roll that had been warmed and buttered and had the best sandwich I've ever eaten in my life. Yes, it's messy as all get out - a bib is required and a lot of napkins! But on my, that flavor. So simple and easy and quick and full of flavor. I think in New Orleans they serve this is a bowl with the shell and heads still on the shrimp. My shrimp were headless and had been shelled except for the tails. I removed them prior to cooking. If served in a bowl, be sure you have plenty of sauce to dunk a crusty roll or bread into. I'm having the rest of the shrimp tonight. Doing the "bowl" version this time as no crusty rolls at my market (I was late!), only french bread which I will heat, split and butter.

Never tried these, but someone was looking for grilled shrimp and these were shared:

Grilled Garlic Cilantro Jumbo Shrimp

1 lb. jumbo shrimp peeled and deveined
ÃÂ½ bunch of cilantro
4 cloves garlic
1/3 cup olive oil
serrano chili
salt and pepper
skewers soaked in water for 30 minutes
lime wedge

1. Grind everything but shrimp in a food processor.
2. Marinate shrimp for 30 minutes and add lemon pepper.
3. Then grill on the skewers, basting with the marinade.
4. Serve over rice.
Mexican Grilled Shrimp 1 lb. large or jumbo shrimp peeled and deveined Lime Juice McCormicks Mexican Seasoning 1\. Shell and de\-vein the shrimp and place onto skewers that have soaked in water for an hour. 2\. Sprinkle the Mexican seasoning onto both sides of the shrimp. 3\. Place the skewered shrimp onto the grill and squeeze the limejuice onto the shrimp to baste while they cook to a pink color. 4\. Enjoy!
Spicy Tequila Marinated Shrimp

Yield: 3 servings

1 pound jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined

Marinade
ÃÂ 1ÃÂ½ cups tequila, preferably 100% blue agave
ÃÂ 1ÃÂ½ cups fresh lime juice
ÃÂ ÃÂ¾ cup extra virgin olive oil
ÃÂ ÃÂ½ cup fresh garlic, finely chopped
ÃÂ ÃÂ½ cup Louisiana hot sauce, or the Tabasco sauce of your choice
ÃÂ ÃÂ½ cup sugar
ÃÂ 4 Tablespoons kosher salt, or to taste
ÃÂ 5 Tablespoons white pepper

Mix all ingredients very well. Marinate shrimp for 2-3 hours in mixture. Cook over charcoal barbecue grill, basting 2-3 times with marinade.
Thai Shrimp on Lemongrass Skewers A thin, firm stalk of lemongrass makes an aromatic skewer for shrimp. Serve these shrimp with a cucumber salad seasoned with rice vinegar and fresh cilantro. For the Thai brushing sauce: 1/4 cup lime juice 1 Tbs. Asian fish sauce 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint 4 garlic cloves, minced 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes 6 thin stalks fresh lemongrass 2 lb. jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined 3 green onions, white portions only, trimmed to 2\-inch lengths Using a small, sharp knife, shape the root end of each lemongrass stalk into a point. Soak the stalks in water to cover for about 30 minutes. Drain. To make the brushing sauce, combine the lime juice, fish sauce, mint, garlic, salt and red pepper flakes. Taste and adjust the seasonings. Meanwhile, prepare a medium\-hot fire for direct\-heat cooking in a covered grill. Position the rack 4 to 6 inches from the fire. Carefully thread the shrimp and green onions onto the lemongrass stalks and brush the shrimp with the sauce. Place on the grill, cover, open the vents and grill, turning once, until the shrimp are cooked through, 6 to 8 minutes. Transfer to individual plates and serve hot. Serves 6.

I have a good bbq shrimp recipe that can be done in the oven might be able to do it on the grill.

BarBQue Shrimp:
5lb shrimp(unpeeled)(or less)
1/8 c.garlic
4 ground bay leaves
1/2 tsp. thyme
1/2 tsp.oregano
1/2 c. onions
1/8 c. bell pepper
1/4 c. black pepper
1/8 c. Tonys cajun seasoning
1/8 c. sherry
1 c. olive oil
(butter)
Mix all ingredients except shrimp in food processor or blender,blend.
Place shrimp in large flat pan(such as a jelly roll pan)and pour sauce over shrimp. Top with slices of butter. Broil in oven until shrimp are pink; turn and cook other side. Serve with loaves of hot French bread, dipped into the sauce and lots of napkins!

Oh yeah! Thank you for your input..now to get to the Walmart for a smaller bag of shrimp than those sold at the Food Lion near my house! $12 per pound seems a little much to pay for the main ingredient in a new recipe! Can't wait to try these! Found this one today...will be trying it too!

Married to a shrimper for 45 years...this is easy and delicious.

Take large shrimp, remove heads, and cut down the back with scissors, leaving the shell on. Remove the black vein. Mix Zesty
Italian dressing with some Tony Chachere's creole seasoning, add some finely minced garlic.

You can buy a little screen type thing to lay over the grill, and put the shrimp on there and baste with the dressing. The shell keeps them from drying out. We like them with just lemon but you can dip them in melted butter or serve with tartar sauce or red sauce.

We clean crabs and do them the same way. This is a "recipe" from a well known restaurant, but they closed following a hurricane in '83. They wouldn't give out the recipe...and I bet people had no idea it was so simple.
The owner was a good friend of my husband's and when he closed the restaurant, he gave him the recipe.

Well I don't really have a recipe but when I grill them I use a skewer and season with cumin, cayan, garlic salt (sparingly), lime zest and squeeze lime over them when I serve them. Yum!
