Oh yum... I've never done grilled shrimp, but I've certainly ate it! I'll be looking forward to the recipes too!

I have used the sauce in this recipe many many ways.
Started out, when living in FL grilling rock shrimp and basting them with the sauce.

Then grilled med to large shrimp and basted with the sauce.

Grilled fish filets.

Reserve some of the sauce for dipping.

Now the below recipe is our favorite way: baked in the oven

bbq shrimp

This has been a family favorite forever.

3-4 lb shrimp OR less for your family *I buy deveined and shell on
2 tsp thyme
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp pepper
2 bay leaves or if they are small ones use 3 or 4
2 crushed garlic cloves (I used jarred crushed)
juice of 2-3 lemons **I used bottled for 3 lemons
1/4 lb melted butter
Melt the butter, stir in the ingredients.
Pour over shrimp and with hands, YES HANDS, toss with the mixture so each shrimp is coated, in a 9 x 13 pan, ( I used my large rectangle glass dish)
Cover with foil, bake 400 for 25 minutes. OR until they are all pink
I generally check and stir at least once.
To serve put on the table as is from stove

I have even bought frozen flounder fish filets and baked them in the oven with the sauce.

I never used to use the same recipe twice, I'd vary it although I usually used a guideline. I kind of liked a pizza flavored meatloaf and would use pizza type seasonings, mozzarella cheese cubes in it sometimes, a little bit of pizza sauce for one type, served with garlic bread and fries or potato wedges. Another time I used Marcia Adam's recipe for a guideline. I'd use what's on hand. I really like meatloaf. If you don't overseason it, it's hard to goof it up. The one thing that's not tolerable to me is the inch of ketchup or tomato sauce on top. That's gross. I like gravy and mashed potatoes most of the time with it. I think it's important to mix meats in there. I happen to like pork sausage (Jimmy Dean type), ground beef, some pepperoni and bacon. I used to use turkey but got some very unattractive stuff and was put off by it so I don't use it anymore. I don't keep oatmeal around or I might use that on occasion. Many like it and I thought it was OK. To me, it's more a guideline than a recipe. Getting too exact can be problematic. More or less meat, more or less additives will all vary the result. In the link above I gave the listing of things I used in the last couple meatloaves I made and probably how I'll make it most of the time from now on unless I decide to go pizza/Italian style or something. You certainly can substitute for or eliminate the onion altogether. It's certainly flavorful enough or you could add something else if you want. Don't be afraid of it. Meatloaf and meatballs are basically the same thing. You can make meatloaf patties out of it too and cook quicker. Make several kinds. Enjoy them. Combine them. That's what I did when I came up with what I liked. There is no "best" recipe for me, since I like variety. So no "one" recipe will do all the time. Want something a little different? Put some hard boiled eggs in there or some cooked bratwurst or polish sausage. Makes for an interesting presentation when you slice it. I do have one problem making meatloaf. I can't seem to get the good crust on there my mom's meatloaf had and I like the crust! It helped with the thin layer of BBQ, essentially brushed on and then seasoned. I imagine the gas oven was dryer than my electric oven and definitely dryer than the Nesco so that's probably part of the problem. Good luck and happy testing!

Need a good but simple Salsa receipe.

Annie's Salsa is delicious. I canned up 13 pints last week and we've already eaten 4 pints and I gave 1 pint to my carpenter. I also made some Peach Tomato Salsa to use up the last of my tomatoes and I thought it would be a nice condiment to pork chops. Today Joe grilled 1 chop to for lunch try it out and he deemed it "very good". The Peach Salsa definitely packs a punch. Peach Salsa (William Anatooskin) 6 cups chopped peaches (about 3 pounds) 3 large fresh tomatoes 1 1/2 cups chopped red onions 4 medium jalapeno peppers, seeded and finely chopped 1 large sweet red pepper, seeded and finely chopped 1/2 cup finely chopped cilantro 1/2 cup white vinegar 2 tablespoons liquid honey 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1. Sterilize 8, 1/2 pint jars, then place upside down in a 325 F oven for about 15 minutes. 2. Blanch peaches, cool in cold water, peel, pit and chop to measure 6 cups. 3.Blanch tomatoes and cool with cold water, peel, remove seeds and cut into chunks. 4. In a large stainless or enamel cooking pot, combine peaches, tomatoes, onion, Jalapeno peppers, sweet red pepper, cilantro, vinegar, honey, garlic, cumin and cayenne pepper. 5. Bring to a boil, and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently. 6. Adjust seasonings to taste. 7. Add more cayenne pepper if you desire a spicier taste. 8. Ladle salsa into hot jars to within 1/4 inch of top for headspace. 9. Remove air bubbles by sliding a rubber spatula between the glass and salsa. Re-adjust the headspace to 1/4 inch. Wipe jar rim to remove any stickiness. Center lid on top of jar; apply screw band just until finger tight. Place jars in a hot bath in a canner and process for 10 minutes. Remove jars and place on a towel, then cover with another towel to cool slowly. Jars are sealed when the lids pop and are curved down, (concave). Label jars and store in a cool, dark place. NOTE: You can substitute and use 6 cups of fresh, chopped pineapple for a different flavor.

We had this for dinner last night. Sure was good. BROWN SUGAR MEATLOAF (Jimmy, my BIL) 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 1/2 cup ketchup 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef 3/4 cup milk 2 eggs 1 1/2 teaspoons salt 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp worchestershire 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper 1 small onion, chopped 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger 3/4 cup finely crushed saltine cracker crumbs Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 5x9 inch loaf pan. Press the brown sugar in the bottom of the prepared loaf pan and spread the ketchup over the sugar. In a mixing bowl, mix thoroughly all remaining ingredients and shape into a loaf. Place on top of the ketchup. Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour or until juices are clear. NOTE: Instead of using a loaf pan, I formed the meat into a loaf. put it in a baking pan and topped with the brown sugar, then ketsup. That way the sauce didn't sit in and get mixed in the grease from the meat and get drained off and thrown away. Worked much better.

I had a bag of cooked, frozen shrimp in my freezer and on Monday night, I fixed the shrimp. I used a NYTimes recipe that is actually a New Orleans recipe. It's called barbecued shrimp, and is rather misnamed as it includes neither a grill or barbecue sauce!! Put about 4-6 Tbs butter in a skillet. Add garlic to taste. Add about 2-4 Tbs Worcestershire sauce. Add shrimp. All of this is done quickly at a high heat. Since my shrimp were already cooked, I put them in still with a few ice crystals in them so they would not over-cook. I cooked them about 2-3 minutes per side. I then added a drizzle of lemon juice and salt and pepper. I poured the entire mess over a crusty roll that had been warmed and buttered and had the best sandwich I've ever eaten in my life. Yes, it's messy as all get out - a bib is required and a lot of napkins! But on my, that flavor. So simple and easy and quick and full of flavor. I think in New Orleans they serve this is a bowl with the shell and heads still on the shrimp. My shrimp were headless and had been shelled except for the tails. I removed them prior to cooking. If served in a bowl, be sure you have plenty of sauce to dunk a crusty roll or bread into. I'm having the rest of the shrimp tonight. Doing the "bowl" version this time as no crusty rolls at my market (I was late!), only french bread which I will heat, split and butter.

Thai Shrimp on Lemongrass Skewers A thin, firm stalk of lemongrass makes an aromatic skewer for shrimp. Serve these shrimp with a cucumber salad seasoned with rice vinegar and fresh cilantro. Oh yeah! Thank you for your input..now to get to the Walmart for a smaller bag of shrimp than those sold at the Food Lion near my house! $12 per pound seems a little much to pay for the main ingredient in a new recipe! Can't wait to try these! Found this one today...will be trying it too!

Married to a shrimper for 45 years...this is easy and delicious.

Take large shrimp, remove heads, and cut down the back with scissors, leaving the shell on. Remove the black vein. Mix Zesty
Italian dressing with some Tony Chachere's creole seasoning, add some finely minced garlic.

You can buy a little screen type thing to lay over the grill, and put the shrimp on there and baste with the dressing. The shell keeps them from drying out. We like them with just lemon but you can dip them in melted butter or serve with tartar sauce or red sauce.

We clean crabs and do them the same way. This is a "recipe" from a well known restaurant, but they closed following a hurricane in '83. They wouldn't give out the recipe...and I bet people had no idea it was so simple.
The owner was a good friend of my husband's and when he closed the restaurant, he gave him the recipe.

Well I don't really have a recipe but when I grill them I use a skewer and season with cumin, cayan, garlic salt (sparingly), lime zest and squeeze lime over them when I serve them. Yum!
