I like a banana that is barely ripe-has that "green" taste to it and firm. Can't stand them when they get brown spots or are mushy!!

Oh, my gosh, someone else likes "green" bananas. I thought I was the only one. Once they have ONE freckle on them, I can't stand them. Don't like banana creme pie, don't like banana bread, in fact, I really don't like bananas.

I like them a little on the green side too.

I like bright yellow bananas....a bruise or two is okay. Once they are "speckeled", it's time for banana bread!

I like mine under three scoops of ice cream with whipped cream and fruit all over it..... ;0)

I prefer to eat fresh bananas that are a little green.

I also love Cuban-style fried bananas, and those are ripe.

Zipper's idea of topping them with ice cream sounds excellent!

Frozen, on a stick and dipped in chocolate!

I don't like banana bread; in fact, they are not my favorite. If I have to eat a banana, I'll slice it in orange juice.

Dh likes them a little green. If they are ripe, they make great frozen, chocolate covered bananas. If they are real ripe or over ripe, they make good banana bread.

Sliced over cornflakes or in a banana split--yummy!!!!

Put me in the column that likes bananas when they are a nice bright yellow all over.

I also like them smothered under ice cream with hot fudge sauce.

Son & I both like them a bit on the green/barely yellow side! DH liked them ripe & a bit soft! So, when I bought bananas, I'd buy them pretty green! Son & I would eat them the first couple of days..then DH would start eating them. I can NOT stand the smell of a very ripe banana and there's no way I'd put that mush in my mouth.

I too prefer my banana with a little green still showing. I have learned to never let DH pick out the bananas in the store. He will select them a little on the green side, but 10 of them!

Oh, GAG! The thoughr of a banana beyond the very firm, nearly green stage just makes me want to hurl.

I thought this thread was going to be about how people like to fix bananas. I haven't done it in years, but they are very good fried in a sliver of butter and sprinkled with cinammon.

I love bananas, but I can't stand one that has any green. I like them well speckled with brown. When they get really soft and mushy they go into banana muffins with peanut butter icing. Yum!!!

I buy mine semi green, then eat them just as they are beginning to turn. Don't like yellow with spots!

Apples should be crunchy when you bite into them but not a banana! Green? yuck. They should be lightly speckled. Best is sliced on top of a dish of ice cream with peanuts and chocolate syrup.

I like them yellow....there is only a couple days that I will eat a banana...don't like them too green or turning brown...and will NOT eat a mushy one. I like it when our grocery store has brown ones on clearance..there comes the banana bread! Mmmmmmmmm

I like my bananas best when they're still ripening on one of my plants. :)

bright yellow, no green if possible. A few speckles is ok. Mushy,,eww. Mushy makes the best banana bread though.
I love banana splits but eat one maybe once a year.

I'm surprised at how many like their bananas a little green. I think they have no flavor at that point, just starchy tasting. I like my bananas smashed between two pieces of peanut butter toast or just plain.

Yellow, no green, no speckles. There's about one day where I like the bananas so I usually only buy 1-2 at a time.

I wouldn't touch a banana with a 10 ft pole!
Well wait, I guess thats not true, I do peel them for the grandbabies to eat. I can't eat a fresh banana if my life depended on it.

In banana bread,cake or muffins, now thats a whole 'nother story!!!

I like mine slightly over ripe, but not too mushy.

bright yellow to just a smidge green around the edges..once spots set in..they go in the freezer to become: bread, muffins, smoothie bases, cakes...BLECH...
And they MUST be organic..they taste so much more like a banana should!

Wow I never knew so many prefer them somewhat green. I find green banana's tasteless. I'll wait for mine to ripen thank you.

Gotta have freckles. I agree they smell so good in Nanner Puddin when they are a little freckled.

I like mine a little green. Once they start getting brown I don't want them unless they are in Banana Bread, Banana Pudding or something like that. I also like frozen bananas. They taste more like a dessert than just a piece of fruit.

4 y/o DGD Erica had seen the commercials for the Debbie Meyer Green Bags and could tell you all about them. One day DD had some bananas that had turned brown but she planned to make Banana Bread. Erica said "Mommy, if you would use the Green Bags your bananas wouldn't look like that." Apparently she likes them green too.

Just finished one,with a few brown speckles.I like them from slightly green to slightly ripe.I usually end up throwing away at least two of a bunch because they are too ripe and I'm too lazy to make banana bread.LOL I will eat one every day if they are around and are the right "ripeness".They have to be a little speckled for banana pudding and homemade banana nut ice cream.When I buy bananas I always get a few green ones and a few that are almost ripe.

Gotta be ripe with a little brown freckles but not mushy. Green doesn't taste good and gives me a stomach ache.

DH thinks every fruit should be crunchy ~ bananas,peaches,nectarines, plums. Not grapes though. I think because almost everything had to come by ship to Hawai'i when he was a kid, except bananas.

Mine have to have a few freckles...hate them when they're green...to me they don't have that banana flavor until they have a few freckles.

Yellow with a few freckles. The only problem is, any time I buy bananas , my two kids eat them BEFORE they get to "perfection". I once bit into a green banana and it was awful!

I thought I was the only person that really loves green bananas. After they start to ripen my husband loves the yellow mushy ones. My grocer always comes running from the back with the green bananas when he sees me coming into the store. The greener the better. Makes me wonder, do I really like bananas.
