The issue as I perceive it, is that the this skin condition has yet to be successfully treated. I would expect the doc to refer out to the next level of specialist if he has yet to successfully clear up the condition or often a patient out of desperation gets fed up, stops looking for treatment or hopefully seeks out a specialist who has greater experience or education. I'm concerned S. may have gotten caught in this. I want her to be proactive for herself and continue to seek out answers. With a condition that is so challenging, docs doing lots of research (medical schools) or infectious disease docs often see very challenging issues are likely going to be the best to identify what is going on. Dermatologists though good, do not necessarily have the exposure to very challenging issues. I don't want S to get frustrated and stop seeking treatment. I am hoping to get her seeking the very, most successful medical help possible. I believe she can call the offices to explain her issue to see if the offices feel prepared to treat. If so, she can go back to Derm doc and ask for a referral to a particular office. Patient's often don't know where to begin and don't know the next steps to get the help needed. Not all specialists see all the very challenging conditions out there but don't necessarily want to say " I'm stumped". That's why a patient needs to be highly proactive for themselves and it is amazing that when a patient needs help and seeks it out from top docs, the pathways can be made smooth for the patient to get the help needed. I want S to push forward to get the help she needs, even if she needs to be pushy. I want her to fight for herself as we all should. That's not an attack.

I am a definite "no" for this style. I particularly don't like the one with the "screened ceiling" or whatever that was inside the kitchen. I hate to admit this but it reminds me a bit of a hoarder's kitchen.....I would wake up every day and feel visually assaulted. I admit that I am on the other side and fairly OCD...I like things so monochromatic and clutter-less that at times my friends have commented that it looks like no one actually works/plays/lives in my house. I think I am getting better though (wink wink). But that's what makes things like this forum so interesting to me--so MANY different tastes. I love seeing (most) of it. Even if it's not my style. It reminds me that there's always another point of view. I do agree with J. Fong though--why the overt haters? Can't you just dislike it without attacking someone else's taste? I am not sure why someone would feel the need to send him such angry messages. While NMS (not my style), I don't think it's insensitive or blasphemous or violent or offensive.....it's just not my style.

1. Stripping it before it is completely dry would be fairly easy. So time if of the essence in making a decision. 2. He certainly could have taken the first strip off at any point though the strip would have been ruined. It sounds to me like you had an extra roll though so what was the problem? 3. The paper was improperly installed regardless of the brown. It is mismatched. That is unacceptable. Period. 4. The guy knew he was going to be hanging something vintage. If he was not familiar with vintage paper, he should have done a little research before he started hanging. When you know you are working with an unusual and expensive product, you make darned sure you know what you are doing before you start because that material comes out of your pocket if you screw it up. 5. YOU don't strip the improperly hung paper. The paper hangar comes and does it for you at no charge. 6. The procedure described by Annie, overlapping and then double cutting, was the proper solution. So if you have another roll, why not try it? Are there any scraps around that would allow the guy to do some practicing before he has to work on the new installation? 7. I tell my clients to accept nothing less than total satisfaction from their contractors. Paper hangars are well compensated for their SKILLS. On an easy job, I can find myself clearing $70 an hour, tax free. When something like this happens, I take a loss but it's my own fault. Even with the occasional loss, my average hourly income is still ample compensation for what I do. There is no reason for you to feel bad about requiring the guy to make you whole. I can't tell you how many jobs I've done, where the client paid me to strip and rehang a job they had paid another hangar to do! They take a total loss on the original labor and materials, and the cost of having me strip, because they don't want to hurt the hangar's feelings. And as crazy as that is, I have to say that I have done the same thing with contractors! 8. Covering the seams with trim is an option. It will look like you papered over paneling. It's the mobile home look, lol. And if you get your hangar to reimburse you the $400, you may be able to use that money to do something else nice for your kitchen. It's something to consider. Sheesh, CC...think about it, will ya? If I enjoyed telling people every little detail of my day...day in and day out...I'd be emailing people thanking them for their support. I'd say screw the doubters and either keep posting here or send updates to the people who are really interested in following the story.
