Thanks everyone for the good thoughts and prayers. And thanks for remembering me! I've missed y'all too and hope to start posting a lot more. I just wanted to thank everyone for your good thoughts concerning Ike. Every message board and news account said to stay away and not come home. And look, I've got internet!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Y'all are the best!

I long for the good old days when the news was reported without political bias. Call me crazy, but, I want just the facts and then back off and let me decide for myself. Is that too much to ask? That's why this forum is so refreshing. Nice people saying nice things to each other. (and if not exactly always nice, always civil) Now, everyone. Let's all give ourselves a collective pat on the back.

Seldom does the world see such a brave and selfless person. I'm honored to have met both Dottie and Harrietta. I really enjoyed those hours and I can imagine how family and close friends have cherished the time they had with her, albeit, way, way too short a time it was. Another example of the good dying way too young. Rest in peace my friend. You fought a brave battle and I hope the pain wasn't too severe. You showed that a down to earth person can have unequalled class. I tip my hat and raise my glass to you.

I'm in the middle of Edgar Sawtelle and am loving it. I love everything written by Douglas Preston/Lincoln Childs. I am reading some Amy Tan also, very nice - and Caroline See's books - not quite as good but still, very nice. I think the person who is reading Memoirs of a Geisha will love it, that one is a "re-read" for me. Just loved it. I read "authors" - if I find one book I love by an author, then I have to get to Barnes and Noble and read everything written by the author *LOL*

In a pinch I keep in my freezer from Trader Joes frozen brown rice that is ready in 4 minutes and it is good, not delicious but OK :)

Gabby, I'm so glad you are okay! I kept thinking of you and saying prayers for you every time I saw news from the Gulf Coast. I read the Jackson paper every day and get most of my Mississippi news from that source. I hope you'll come back soon and give us a detailed account of what has been happening.Right now, I'm just happy that you are able to post! Bettye/AZ

Bettye we moved back to TX the first of April, so still have to dodge hurricanes just further west(I think).

Mombondo we are near Galveston.

It's so good seeing everyone again, I've missed all of y'all.

So glad you have a dry place to stay Gab. I've been hearing the same thing. Stay away until further notice. Seems the traffic is a mess from those trying to get home to see their damage. It's heart breaking to watch the news. I sure hope your and Jimmy's property was spared my friend.

Gabby Gabby Gabby!!! I am so glad to hear from you! I have wondered what happened to you. So you are in Texas now. I drop in here (read: lurk) every now and then and always check to see if there is any news about you. Email me and let me know how you have been. I still have my old email and phone number if you still have it, if not just use the mypage. Gary and I are both doing well, just busy. I just love ya to death girl. I'm grinning from ear to ear to know you are "still around".
